Maki Shijo was miserably walking around the hallways of Shuchi’In academy, eventually her aimless wandering ended with her ending up on the courtyard of the school. She eventually dropped herself on a bench and started quietly sobbing, eventually she was found by Karen Kino and Erika Kose.
“Maki san! Is anything wrong?” Asked Karen worriedly checking on her friend. “Uwaaaaah…” Faintly cried Maki as a response. “What happened, Maki?” Asked Erika patting her in the back, only to be responded by more sobbing. “Oh! I know! You are sad cause we weren’t there to take photos of the President leaving this Sunday!” Declared Erika triumphantly only to be responded by the dead stares of Karen and Maki. “Hey Erika, I think I saw Kaguya sama around the classroom through the window.” Said Karen. “Kaguya sama! I’ll go for a picture right now!” Said Erika carrying her camera inside the school.
“Alright Maki, she’s gone. You can tell me what happened now.” Said Karen comforting Maki who was still lazily glaring at the space where Erika was. “Does it have anything to do with Tanuma kun?” Karen asked. “Hah? Why would I be interested in a guy like him in the first…” Maki was beginning to talk when she noticed Karen glaring at her. “How long are you going to keep that act?” Asked Karen bluntly, Maki sighed. “Don’t you sometimes think that love is a leech that sucks up our happiness?” She said. “MAKI!?” Exclaimed Karen at hearing her declaration.
“I spent all day trying to find someone that could help me forget… that. But nobody was available to help me because of love affairs.” Maki explained. “I tried asking Yu kun, but all he said was: ‘Sorry Tsundere senpai, I have plans I’m busy for now, I’m helping Miko to practice in Apex.’ Then I tried reaching out to Ai san but she said: ‘Sorry Maki san. I’ll go to the skating rink with Chika chan and I’m preparing a reservation, we can talk tomorrow.’ And then I tried to contact Miyuki kun through Line but all he said was: ‘Sorry Shijo san, but I have to help Kaguya study for the SATs, we can talk later.’ SO I HAVE NO ONE TO TALK TO!” Maki ranted.
Karen gasped at the last part of Maki’s rant, she was a self proclaimed “Passionate shipper of President x Kaguya sama. “A study date between the President and Kaguya sama!? I can visualize it right now, taking notes as they slowly drift off in the romantic atmosphere and…” Karen was stopped in her delusion when she noticed Maki shooting daggers from her eyes, which made her realize now it’s not the best time to indulge in her delusions. Bu-bu-but enough about that! If you need someone you need to talk to, I’m here for you Maki san! I am wondering what you meant by ‘that’” She said. “I have no option right?” Asked Maki as Karen nodded. “Alright, here’s the rundown. It was last Saturday.”
Maki just arrived at Odaiba beach in a taxi, her plan was just relaxing for a while on the beach to spend her morning. She was about to enter when she was stopped by a construction worker. “Sorry Miss, but we are preparing a small event here, so the beach is off limits for now.” He said. “C’mon, I didn’t come all the way here for nothing!” Said Maki, annoyed. “Well there’s a small free space on the beach right now you can use that.” Said the construction worker pointing at his left. “Alright, thanks sir.” Said Maki going where the worker was pointing.
The portion of the beach Maki walked into was completely empty, to her pleasure. “Very well! That looks good! I'll sunbathe for a while then take a swim.” Said Maki as she entered the changing rooms to put on her swimsuit. She then came out in a frilly lime green bikini. “Well, I was hoping to boast about this bad boy to more people, but it’s alright.” Maki said as she laid down on one of the beach chairs as she soaked in the sun. It was around twenty minutes when she had enough. “Guess it’s time to take a dip in the ocean.” She said as she stretched after she got up. But just before she went into the sea, she caught something in the corner of her eye.
It was Tsubasa Tanuma, the boy Maki was crushing after arriving on the beach, wearing a plain white T-shirt and black and red swimming shorts. Maki’s first instinct was to hide behind the building where the changing rooms were, she spent some seconds checking if Tsubasa moved away but all he did was stretch until he settled down. Maki realized now it was her golden chance to spend a whole Saturday with him, but just as she started coming from behind the building Tsubasa called. “It looks good, Nagisa! Check it for yourself.”
Maki went back into hiding as she noticed Nagisa Kashiwagi, Tsubasa’s current girlfriend, come into the beach too, dressed in a red and white stripes tank top and denim shorts. At this point all chances of Maki’s pan succeeding went out of the window, it’s probably meant to be a date so there’s no chance of Tsubasa budging. Then Maki noticed something as the couple started to take off their clothes. Tsubasa simply removed his shirt leaving him in only his swim shorts. But Maki didn’t have much time to admire his body, as Nagisa also took off her clothes, revealing a pink bikini with purple polka dots, that if you asked Maki, didn’t leave too much for the imagination.
“Let’sgo take a swim, Tsubasa.” Nagisa said as they both ran into the ocean. Maki didn’t know what to do, so she just entered the changing rooms in a rush. She locked herself in a stall trying to process the situation (not before 15 minutes of sobbing). After a while Maki assessed the situation and came to a conclusion. “Maybe I could try to join them and hang out as friends! That way they won’t do anything too wild.” She said to herself. She was about to triumphantly walk out of the stall when she heard the changing room door slam open.
In a reflex, Maki entered back in the stall and stepped up the toilet so whoever entered couldn’t see her. She then peaked over the stall’s door to see who entered. It was Tsubasa and Nagisa, passionately making out. Maki felt sick at the sight, but then she noticed something. Tsubasa was playing with Nagisa’s bra strap as he let it slide down her arm, then Nagisa pushed him on a corner as Maki could only look. They both stopped for a moment to catch a break and after that they… they… they…
Maki was blubbering in the middle of retelling her experience. Karen didn’t take long to connect two and two together, but she knew that at this point Maki needed to let it out. “They what, Maki!? They what!?” Asked Karen excitedly. Maki tried to control her sobs and finally all at once screamed the rest of her tale. “AFTER THAT SHE YANKED DOWN TSUBASA’S SHORTS AND THEN SHE- (What followed in Maki’s story was deliberately skipped, for the sake of keeping the age rating down, but I assume you, dear reader, are smart enough to connect the dots.) And after she swallowed it all they put their swimsuits on again and walked out like nothing.”
“After that I had to stay half an hour in the stall reflecting on my life choices before dizzily going out of the changing room, then they both noticed me and assumed I just arrived, so they invited me to hang out with them, unaware of what I just witnessed them do. I couldn’t look them straight in the eye all day long.” Maki sighed. Karen simply couldn’t believe her ears, for her virgin and inexperienced eyes someone retelling that tale so vividly was as if someone showed an eight year old kid a video of someone killing Santa. She felt her innocence being rip out of her inch by inch for every word Maki said.
Erika finally came back to the two girls. “Karen! I took some pretty cute photos of Kaguya sama! You should see-” the girl was then faced by two girls that looked like their souls had been drained of their bodies. “Bye Erika, by Maki. I’m going home, I need a break.” Said Karen groggily walking outside the courtyard. “But it’s still noon!” Exclaimed Erika but Karen ignored. “Maki is very descriptive, I can’t still remove the mental image. What would happen if President and Kaguya sama… NO! That would be way over the line. I must use all of my willpower to restrain myself from going through such an offense.” Said Karen trying to persist. But something the young girl isn’t known for is her willpower. And later when she got home, Karen Kino committed an unforgivable sin.
Erika then looked at Maki who still had a dead look in her eyes. She tried to scramble her brain for an idea until a lightbulb lit up over her head. “I know! I’ll ask Tanuma kun and Nagisa for help!” Said Erika triumphantly as she went for the aforementioned couple.
And that’s where we’ll leave this girl, because the future… well the future can’t go anywhere but up at this point can it?
