Chapter 1: Marcy's Naming Skills Leave Much to be Desired
The year was 1989. Sasha Waybright liked to think she was pretty progressive for a cheerleader of her time.
It appeared God wished to test that belief.
"....Come again?" Sasha blinked slowly at Marcy. Anne Boonchuy, the third member of their little trio, was still coughing from choking on her drink.
"I said I can't come over tonight because I am going to a Gamers in the Closet meeting. You know? My new club? ….Did I not mention this? God, I hope I mentioned this, would be awkward if I didn't, sorry guys-" Marcy was rambling to herself. Anne and Sasha listened as best they could in case she said something they actually needed to respond to, but they looked at each other.
'....Told you so.' Anne smugly mouthed.
'I'll get your five bucks later.' Sasha mouthed back with an eye roll.
".... and then me and Tetra laughed and laughed! Awwwww…. Good times!" Marcy chuckled, having continued to ramble.
"Hey Mar Mar, you know you can tell us anything right? …. Anything at all?" Anne asked, stressing the anything part.
"Of course guys. You're my besties." Marcy nodded.
"Could we, uh, come to the meeting? Your friends sound nice." Sasha added.
"Aw, sorry Sashy, no can do. Everyone else would probably be fine with it, but Don Patch gets a little jumpy about broken promises, and I promised it would just be us Closet Gamers. But I'm sure you could meet later!" Marcy explained.
"Of course Mar Mar." Sasha nodded. Marcy raised an eyebrow. She had admittedly been fully prepared for Sasha to ignore her explanation and come along Anyways, the explanation was more of a courtesy to Don Patch so she could explain to him she tried at least than anything. Sasha not ignoring things to do what she wanted was weird! She turned to Anne to whisper about this, but the girl just smiled and gave her back a kind pat.
"We'll always be here Marcy."
"....Ok then?" Marcy blushed a little for reasons she couldn't pinpoint.
…This was a weird day, she decided.

The little basement area her clubmates had managed to snag wasn't anything special, but it was theirs, and that was all that mattered!
"Ha, Marce! You'll never believe what Angel said today!" Gaige cackled from her chair, leaning on it.
"You really shouldn't lean on chairs like that, you could fall!" Puar pointed out fussily.
"Pffffftttt, ok Dad, you want to clean my clothes too?" Gaige snorted good naturedly.
"Ugh, I don't know why I hang out with you." Puar eye rolled back playfully with a lazy swat of his tail at Gaige's leg.
"You know ya love me." Gaige chuckled.
(Everyone ignored the weird feeling that all six got from the idea of anyone here getting with someone of the opposite gender. Probably just friendship concerns, they each rationalized separately.)
"So, are we just gonna sit here blabbing all day or are we gonna GAME AND BLAB?!" Don Patch laughed.
"You're suddenly yelling again." Vee gently informed.
"Augh, sorry. Jelly Jiggler is normally on top of me…. With, uh, explaining that I need to control my volume. Not anything else. Not that I would want anything else." Don Patch nodded.
"Right, right." Tetra agreed with a stretch.
(Everyone pointedly ignored their own and everyone else's blushes as They imagined their own not so innocent scenarios)
"Gaming time!" Marcy clapped her hands.
"Yeah!" The others quickly agreed.
Anne and Sasha had shown up but not actually entered the room, just discreetly watching from the door as they saw all this, only confirming their suspicions as they nod and slip away to plan "Operation Make Sure Marcy Wu Knows She's Accepted and Loved".
…..It really said something that Marcy was the best of the three of them at naming things, they decided.
