Work Text:

"You're becoming just like him."

The room's red as crimson, the hue intensity increasing the moment he felt his stomach dropped at the sound of the voice.

"I thought you were gone, turns out you're also continuing his legacy."

The 12 year old boy looked at him dejectedly, his exhausted and betrayed expression made Rizwan flinch and on guard.

"Ali, its not what you think. I'm not on Uno's side, please trust me..--"

"Why would you do this? I looked up to you, I confided in you!"

The room shakes violently, the colour of everything starts to fade in saturation. Surprised by the sudden motion, Rizwan tripped slightly and trying to stay upright from the catastrophe. The grumbling sound fills in his ears, as if the entire building is about to fall apart. The ceiling started to crumble and fall apart, almost as if..

No, he can't let that happen to Ali, he has to save him. The boy is so young yet he is thoughtful, all the while pushing himself to reach to the top. Rizwan can't let this boy get hurt again.

Unfortunately, he's stuck.

No matter how much he tries.

His legs refused to move.

He could only look at the boy standing in his uniform, a miserable look on his face. His eyes devoid of shine or hope, something Rizwan is not used to see in Ali.

"It's okay. I understand. This always happen."

Ali doesn't even move from where he stands, he's going to get hit! Rizwan struggles with his immobilized body, just standing and frozen, wanting to charge towards Ali. The room went silent for a sudden.

As the boy let out a sad chuckle, tears falling out of his eyes.

"Thank you, Rizwan. For everything."

The Ex-Inviso agent's pupil's shrink, feeling a chill down his spine as his heart dropped.

"No, Ali. Get out of there!"

"You were always like a brother to me--"

Before Ali could finish his sentence, he gets crushed by the ceiling's concrete. A loud crash and thud can be heard. As well as the sound of a skull getting cracked open.

"No... No, please.."

------------------

Dos wakes up from her sleep as she feels and hear her husband thrashing around in the bed, causing her to get bumped several times underneath the shared duvet covers.

She rubs her eyes and groggily wakes up before being aware when seeing her husband's state. Opening the bedside lamp swiftly, she nudges Rizwan, who was covered in cold sweat.

"Rizwan...?"

She is getting worried at his expressions getting desperate, furrowing his eyebrows. Dos can see him heavily breathing, immediately strikes into her thoughts that Rizwan is having a nightmare.

Or worse, another PTSD episode.

"Please wake up, Rizwan.."

------------------

The smell of metal hits his nose, the usual smell of blood starts to seep into his senses.

"No.. no.. NO!"---

Rizwan jolted awake, his body spring forward. His breathing quicken, heart jumped and drenched in sweat. He takes couple of blinks to realise it's all just a horrible nightmare.

"Rizwan, are you okay?"

Dos on his side, touching his arm. The man only could soften his gaze from the shock by seeing his lovely wife beside him. She grabs a glass of water on the bedside table and gives it to him. Rizwan complied and takes the glass gently before drinking it slowly. Dos then takes away the glass and put it onto the nightstand.

"Bad dream?"

Rizwan didn's respond right away. His eyes boring into the covers, feeling weak after what he just witnessed.

"It's okay, take your time."

Dos hugs him on the side, patting his shoulder. Rizwan could feel like his whole emotions run around trying to process what he had to go through. His body trembling and shaking as Dos pulls away and looks at him.

"Rizzy?"

"..Sara."

"Yes?"

"..Please hold me."

Rizwan let out a broken whimper, before hugging her and diving his head on her shoulder. Dos' mouth agape at the action, but quickly starts to embrace him while patting and rubbing her husband's head.

"I.. I don't know why this is suddenly happening again.. It felt real and..and I-- I couldn't do anything about it--"

Rizwan then hiccuped on his sobs, letting his tears fall as he sniffles. Dos could only shush him to comfort him and continue to rhythmicly rub the back of his head.

"It's okay, I'm here."

The sobs and cries of the man can be heard echoing in the shared bedroom. There's only so much Rizwan could handle. He is grateful that Dos is here with him.

As time passes, his sobs died down and there's only sniffles on Dos' shoulder. Rizwan continue to lay there and hug his wife, wanting to be in her arms for a little longer.

"You want to talk about it?"

Rizwan only managed to shake his head. Dos hums in understanding and kisses his head.

"It's okay. Take your time."

She can hear a muffled hum as in agreement. They both stay in the position despite her soreness. Dos promised herself that she would do anything for her beloved's comfort. Rizwan then lift his head and muttered slowly but enough for Dos to hear.

"..I wanna lay down."

Dos then smiled softly. She turns off the light on the nightstand to let them both slumber.

"Okay."

Pulling the covers for both to be underneath it again, Rizwan then snuggled up to his wife under her chin.

"Little spoon today?"

"Mhm."

"Alright."

Words of affirmation exchanged between the two. It is always sweet whenever they get to do so, it strengthen their communication and relationship.

As Rizwan slowly doze off to sleep while being embraced in her wife's chest, Dos starts to get sleepy as well. Not before they say last words for the night to each other.

"I love you, Rizwan."

Rizwan held her tighter, comforted by the action and the words. He adores Dos so much, she is his world and he express as much as he can to prove that.

"I love you, Sara."

The night went peacefully, regardless of what just happened. Either way, they would comfort each other in their lowest.

For it is because they are linked together for eternity.
