Work Text:

                                                                                   December 1991

-That's not true- justified the taller of the two by throwing a light elbow at the other, who had been laughing heartily for several minutes already.
- I almost started crying from how much you sucked at playing my drums- continued the younger one bending in two from laughter- if what you were doing could be called playing- mumbled laughing again.
- I'm better than you, you just don't want to admit it - Krist continued in a mock offended tone as he kicked snow like a child - The important thing is that you are sure. - said Dave managing to quiet his laughter, though not for long, because when he turned to look at Krist again, he burst into another infectious laugh.  - But speaking of something else, look how beautiful the moon is - muttered Krist as she looked up at the moon, gazing at it with the most adorable look Dave had ever seen.
- Welcome to Virginia, man- mumbled Dave in response turning his eyes toward the moon as well, remembering the time they had met. Dave had only been playing in the band for a short time, only a month, and as much as he saw the other two almost every day, he actually knew nothing about them.
Not that he had ever been a curious person, but he wanted to know more about the people he was with every day.
It was a beautiful August night, and the practices had lasted much longer than they should have, Krist had just sat outside to smoke a cigarette in peace, but not even a minute later, Dave joined him.
The moon was not very bright that night, but it was bright enough for the two of them to look into each other's eyes.
Under that white light the two began to share stories about their lives, so you could say that was their first real conversation. A conversation that was not about the band, but about their personal lives. His eyes shined exactly as they did that night, and Krist, who had always had a soft spot for Dave's doe eyes, lowered her gaze to the younger man.
- Do you remember the night we had that talk that had lasted all night?" he asked as he looked up at the older man, who didn't think twice about looking down. too much eye contact would have created too many butterflies in his stomach.
- um...yeah, I guess- he mumbled as he looked down at the sidewalk moving under his feet -why? - he asked quite intrigued, of course he couldn't have forgotten that night, the night that started the feelings Krist tried to hide, but couldn't deny.
- No, nothing, never mind. - Dave said firmly, looking up at the sky again.
Actually he himself did not know why he had asked that question, but that vague answer had hurt him more than he had expected.
No one said anything more for the next five minutes, but it was not an awkward silence; on the contrary, they both appreciated it, exchanging glances from time to time.
- You couldn't play those drums anyway - Dave brought up the conversation again, deserving an elbow from his friend.
He was even ready to reply, but he slumped over in the snow after slipping on the ice because of the elbow - Fuck -mumbled Dave embarrassedly, trying to get up but only falling back down again -need help? - asked Krist looking quite amused at the scene and holding out his hand to the younger one who was practically becoming a snowman.
 - Definitely not from Krist fucking Novoselic-.
-Bu-.
-Shut up- Tried to get up a second time, but the only result he got was a soggy ass and frozen hands.
-Maybe a little help- admitted Dave, but so softly that Krist almost didn't hear him.
He didn't mind at all extending his hand toward Dave again, which he didn't hesitate to grab, and then finally hung onto the taller man's shoulders when he was about to fall a fourth time.Needless to say, Krist blushed violently when Dave hung on him and pushed his face more than he should.
He didn’t know what to do, or rather, he could have told him to pull off, but probably the other man's sly smile said to hold it tighter... or maybe not.
It took Krist a few seconds to decide what to do, and ultimately his decision was simply to follow his heart, pulling their lips into a soft kiss.
Even if after, the look of the youngest seemed a mixture of shock and fear - I think we should go look for Kurt- said Dave looking at Krist with the gaze that maybe was softened a little -s...sorry- he whispered with what looked like tears falling down his cheeks.
-Wait.. -
