Chapter Text
Two months before.
Shotaro knew the moment he'd find his soulmate. He hadn't really believed in that sort of thing until he realized he never gave it a shot, to begin with. While he didn't exactly think he was spiritually connected to some random person he'd meet one day, he knew that meeting them would be special.
And believe him, it was.
Sungchan was first introduced to him through Donghyuck during a small gathering. The two were roommates & Shotaro had heard things about Sungchan from Donghyuck before, but never gave it much thought.
That night, Shotaro was the last to arrive at Donghyuck's dorm, being late is something he's famous for among their friend group, and knocked on the door. Sungchan opened it, and just like that, Shotaro knew he had found 'the one.' The way Sungchan smiled at him after opening the door made Shotaro a little weak in the knees.
It took him a minute to process he had been standing outside and staring at Sungchan without saying anything before he regained his composure.
"Do you want to come in?" Sungchan asked quietly, the other boys were all gathered around on the floor holding what looked like Uno cards. "Uh, yeah. Sorry." Sungchan moved to the side as he walked in, and Shotaro felt his heartbeat quicken as he walked past him.
Donghyuck looked up at him and motioned for him to hurry over. The others waved to him with a slightly disconnected "Hey," too caught up in their game to focus on anything else. "I think this is the earliest you've ever showed up. It was an hour last time, now it's only ten minutes."
Shotaro laughed as he set the apology Gimbap down on the table. "I brought you Gimbap as an apology, leave me alone." Shotaro took his coat off and was about to lay it down on the floor next to him as Sungchan offered to put it on the rack.
"We have a coat rack, let me hang this up for you." Shotaro gave a small smile in response and nodded, too nervous to actually form words. Donghyuck peeked over at them, a smirk creeping on his face that Shotaro didn't see. Afterward, Sungchan came over and sat next to him.
"I'm Sungchan, I don't think we've met before." Sungchan. Shotaro let the name bounce around in his mind, replaying the way Sungchan himself pronounced it, and then pronouncing it himself in his head. He knew Sungchan wasn't going to leave his mind any time soon.
"I'm Sho-" Shotaro was interrupted by Renjun screaming "UNO!" As Mark threw all of his cards in the air and threw himself backward on the floor. The others erupted into arguments and accused Renjun of cheating.
"-Taro." Sungchan leaned, more like was pushed, into Shotaro as Donghyuck and Renjun began playfully fighting each other. Instinctively, Shotaro held Sungchan's arm to keep him from falling any further into him.
"Sorry about that," Sungchan whispered, but Shotaro remained quiet.
Sungchan did too as they stared at each other, in their own little world as their friends yelled in the background.
