Chapter 1: Fallen Star

Chapter Text

Cold.

Lumine was barely conscious, but she felt her skin being brushed by the harsh cold winds of a snowy environment. And it didn’t help with the splitting headache she has as she regained some consciousness. But it wasn’t long before she passed out from exhaustion once more, only seeing a glimpse of copper before she closed her eyes again.

“Big brother! Look! A meteor shower!”

Ajax looked up to see stars dancing across the sky and he beamed as he watched her little sister gazing at the sky with wonder.

“Quick Tonia! You gotta make a wish or it won’t come true!” He nudged her. Tonia closes her eyes, trying to think of all the wishes she wants. She then looks back at Ajax and asked, “What did you wish for big brother?”

“M-me?” he laughed awkwardly. His arm scratched the back of his head by habit, not sure how to answer the question.

“W-well, the wish won’t come true if you say it out loud, Printessa.”

“Oh! Okay, then I won’t”

But if there’s one wish I could make , he thought as he looked back at the meteor shower, Is that something amazing will happen, and I want to experience it all .

“Hey! There’s a star that’s getting bigger!”

Ajax broke from his trace of thought and focused on the shooting star that Tonia pointed out. It was indeed getting bigger, and its trajectory was going downward at an alarming rate. Without even thinking, he jumped off from the porch to get a look at the falling star.

The calls from his sister faded slowly as he ran deeper into the dark forest, but only lit up more as the star kept falling down and down to the ground. Is it a Vision? A sign from Celestia? Ajax’s mind and curiosity expanded as he kept following the star’s path until at a certain proximity he could make out a figure surrounded by the glowing starlight.

Or rather, someone.

As the figure fell closer to the forest, Ajax was determined to catch the person. And yet, this young and naive boy didn’t consider how much the person weighed or how fast they were going. Because by the time he caught up, he was hit in the face and crashed into the snow with the figure.

Take note, never catch something that doesn’t look light, even though they’re surrounded by a strange glowing aura

The snow at least was a nice cushion to their crash, but Ajax could feel some of it seeping into his clothes. None of that mattered however when he looked up to see the most beautiful sight ever.

A young blonde haired girl with tresses, and a white dress that didn’t determine any of the seven nations’ style. But the long eyelashes covered with snow droplets, the small plump lips, and the elegant flowers adorning her hair - Ajax thought he caught an angel.

But the snowy environment didn’t give him any more time to admire the girl’s features. Ajax did his best to support the girl with his tall but fragile body and carry her back to his house. It was something only a gentleman could do for a fine lady like her, he thought back to his mother’s teachings.

“Don’t worry, Miss,” he whispered in her ear, “We’ll get you warm soon enough.”
