Chapter 1: A Nice Surprise
Chapter Text
The halls laid empty with an eerie silence. The only other thing that laid in the halls were tall red lockers, dust collecting on top as if not been used in years.
Footsteps could then be heard. The pitter-patter sound of them slowly got closer. A boy with messy ginger hair could be seen running through the halls, his bright green eyes filled with fear. His hoodie- bright green with a purple hood- had looked ragged and scratched. He also had a small book bag slung over his shoulder. Behind the boy, smacking could be heard getting closer and closer, pursuing the boy through the halls. The boy ran, sticking as close as he could to the wall for quicker and swifter turns. The longer the boy ran though, the more tired he got. The boy turned his head around and saw the figure behind him almost catching up. He quickly reached into his bag, took out a blue can, shook it, and then released the contents directly towards the figure. A blue cloud of the blue substance shot out directly towards the figure and began to push it back to the very end of the hallway, giving the boy enough time to escape.
The boy continued running down the hall until he heard whistling up ahead. He quickly turned the corner and hid behind the wall. The whistling got closer and soon passed by fading down the hall. He then could hear the same smacking that was pursuing him earlier. The boy then stopped breathing all together, not daring to make any sort of movement or sound of any kind. As the slapping soon disappeared down the hall; the boy took a sigh of relief. He took off and opened his book bag to reveal 4 brightly colored notebooks, a quarter, and some sort of energy bar with a green wrapper. He took out the energy bar and ate it as he started walking in a random direction, careful not to make as much noise as he walked. He soon found some rooms, all had blue doors with the number 99 on them. He opened them up, but apparently didn't find what he was looking for. After walking around endlessly for a while he soon came upon another door. Just as he was about to open the door, the figure that was pursuing him turned the corner right in front of the boy.
The figure was a tall and lanky man wearing a bright green, long sleeve sweater and regular blue pants; brown shoes complimenting the outfit. The most strangest thing about him wasn't his eerily large eyes, freakish nose or wide smile. It was the fact that the man would be considered bald except for a single strand of light brown hair sticking from the top of his head.
The boy stood there for a minute, frozen in fear, until the (almost) bald man swung a huge ruler in his hand towards him. The boy dropped to the floor, barely missing the ruler. He quickly got up and started running the way he came from. As he was getting farther from the man, he ran into a girl, she wore a red dress and light blue leggings underneath with black dress shoes. Everything was normal about her except for her eyes and hair, which were just scribbles. "Lets' play", the girl said with a distorted voice. "Ready? Go!", she said as the ginger boy was forced to jump with a white jump rope. Each time the boy would jump, the girl would count in her weird distorted voice. The whole time, the boy was sweating, nervous he would mess up his rhythm. As he continued to jump he could hear the slaps coming closer and closer. Finally, he finished the fifth jump. He continued to run while in the distance he heard the girl say in her distorted voice, "Wow, letsz play again, letsz play again, sssometime sszoon."
After running for a while, the boy was cut off by a wall and was forced to turn to the right down another hallway. He soon realized though, he cornered himself into a dead end. He couldn't go anywhere besides the room next to him, which he knew was pointless. As the man got closer and closer, the boy's eyes grew more wide with fear. He knew what this man could do with that ruler and he didn't want to accept his fate so early.
Finally, the man was only a couple feet away from the boy, who had put his back against the wall, his eyes starting to fill with tears. The man lifted his ruler....
and swung down.
***************************
You woke up to the sound of yelling coming from outside. You tried to cover your head with some of your pillows to muffle out the sound; you still hear the shouting from outside even with the pillows. You took off your comforter blanket and was greeted with the coldness of your room. Since it was the first couple weeks of summer, it started to get really hot, so your parents had to always keep the house cold. You stumbled over the floor, almost tripping on some of the many piles of clothes and random shit on your floor.
You fumbled with the blinds of your window to try and see what was going on. When you finally got the blinds opened, you were immediately blinded by the rays of the gleaming sun. After taking a while to adjust your eyes to the harsh light, you looked down from your window to see your neighbor, an elderly man, shouting at some kids. The kids in question had raw eggs in their hands, proceeding to keep throwing them at the old guy's house.
Even though it was entertaining to see the events unfold from your bedroom window, you knew that you had to get up and get ready for the day.
You then started towards your bathroom out in the hall. You took a 15 minute quick shower, flossed, brushed your teeth, and combed through your hair. Since it had been getting more hot lately, you decided to just throw on a simple white t-shirt with a palm tree on it and black shorts. You then slipped on your sandals you had beside your door and headed downstairs.
As you headed downstairs, the smell of pancakes hit you like a rock. You went past the living room towards the kitchen and found the source of the smell. There on the island counter was a big stack of about 6-8 pancakes. Next to the plate of pancakes was a yellow sticky note that read,
"Sorry, your father and I had to leave earlier than expected, will pancakes make up for it? xoxo - Mom :)
You smiled gently. You knew that both your parents' jobs always expected them early since they worked at a very big insurance company. You didn't mind that they always left early because their jobs needed them, but everyday you wished they could eat breakfast with you for a change. After snapping out from your thoughts you went to one of the cabinets to grab a plate for your pancakes.
You put 2 pancakes on the plate and put a little too much syrup on accident. You went to sit down at the coffee table in the living room to eat your pancakes. Taking a bite from your pancakes, you turned on the TV, wanting to watch an early morning cartoon. The bite of pancake you had in your mouth made you miss your parents. After watching TV for a while you started to get bored and wandered the house looking for something else worthwhile to do.
***************************
For the past few hours you had spent your time trying to find ways to entertain yourself. You had been talking to one of your close friends and had been playing on your game console to pass the hours. After a while you took a nap and soon had woken up to your mom arriving home. It was already 9:00 pm when she got home. Usually your mom would get home before your dad, since she would be released earlier than your dad because of her work's different work schedule. You didn't get up from lying on the couch when you saw your mom, wanting not to scare her. You then see her put down her purse and turn around towards you. Quickly you hide your face in your pillow pretending to still be asleep. You felt her hand run her fingers through your hair, playing with it gently. She then kissed the back of your head as you heard something being placed next to you. She then got up as you heard her walking away, probably to her room to relax, you guessed. Once you figured your mom was fully in her room you got up and looked next to you to see a small square present next to you. It was a small thin square that was wrapped in white wrapping paper that had stars on it and sticky note stuck on the front.
You then started to read the sticky note left on the gift.
Found this at the thrift store after I got off of work. Thought it could help you with your math skills. xoxo - Mom
After reading the little sticky note, you wondered what was in this mysterious gift. You carefully unwrapped the gift, wanting to keep the wrapping paper because it was pretty, and finally found what was hiding under all that paper. It was some sort of CD case with a weird cover on it. All the cover on the box had on it was 'Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning' in big letters in Comic Sans. 'Huh, that's a box cover', you thought with a confused look. Usually any box a disk came in had some sort of picture on it. As you finally opened the plastic casing of the disk, the disk was just a regular disk with the same name on it as the box had. Curious you decided to go upstairs to your room to play it. Once you got upstairs though, you decided to save the game for tomorrow since it was already dark outside and the nap you took earlier didn't help get you any rest. You took off your shirt and shorts, hanging them up to wear tomorrow since you didn't really get them dirty today, and proceeded to put on some comfortable pajama shorts and a regular black shirt. Before you went to bed though, you took one look at the game case leaning against your PC and couldn't help but feel like there was something, off about the game. You cleared your mind of those ridiculous thought and soon drifted to sleep.
Chapter 2: Booting Up
Chapter Text
You woke up once more to the smell of breakfast. When you got up it took you a moment to adjust your eyes to see clearly. After taking a couple of seconds to rub the sleep out of your eyes, you stood up and started towards your bedroom door. You went down the stairs and headed straight to the kitchen hoping to see the familiar faces of your father and mother. Your mother probably finishing up making breakfast while making you a plate of whatever she cooked. You thought about your father sitting there on the kitchen table like he would always do, reading the daily newspaper he still paid subscription for whilst sipping a cup of coffee with a drop of creamer in it. He would always look so serious sitting there but his face would always soften up once he saw that you were up; greeting you with a smile and talking to you about how you felt this morning.
Once you opened to the kitchen those positive thoughts went away. The kitchen was empty like it was yesterday when you came down stairs and instead of pancakes sitting on a plate it was instead bacon, eggs, and a couple of cinnamon rolls on it. You didn't bother reading the note next to your plate, all you wanted was to eat. You went over to the fridge and pulled out an orange juice box and poked the straw through the hole. You then grabbed your plate and started to head up the stairs, forgetting the note left on the counter entirely. Once you got to your room you turned on the light and set your plate on your bed. You then headed to the little desk you had by your window and grabbed your phone off of the charging port to watch something while you ate. The whole time you ate your breakfast you scrolled through your YouTube recommendations to see what could entertain yourself. You then settled on a video discussing some sort of internet drama you thought you could just listen to while eating.
***************************
It was already 10:15am when you finally gotten bored of watching your phone. It was 8:40am when you started eating and your legs had gotten tired of sitting down. You had finished eating a while ago and had only been watching your phone for the rest of the time. You finally decided to get ready for the day. After taking a longer shower than yesterday, you finally got out and dressed yourself with the white tee with the palm tree and the black shorts from yesterday. You finally felt refreshed and decided to find something else to entertain yourself. You decided to do the dishes since they hadn't been done in a couple of days. It took about 45 minutes to finally finished the dishes and clean the counter. After doing so you couldn't find anything else to fill your boredom so you ended up retreating back to your room. Once getting up the stairs and through your bedroom door, that's when you saw it.
It was the same CD box that you laid against your PC from yesterday. The same gift that your parents had picked out from the thrift store to help you with your math skills. You stood there at the doorway of your room just staring at it; thinking if you should even attempt to pick it up. Finally, curiosity (and boredom) got the best of you. You headed over to your desk and took a seat at your spinning office chair. You opened the box once more and took the CD out and got one last good look at it before turning on your PC. As your PC booted up you put in your password and watched the screen go to your home screen. You then put in the CD and soon saw an icon pop up on the home screen. The icon looked like some sort of green tablet with some sort of weird antenna sticking out of the top left side of it. You then proceeded to click the icon a couple of times until a loading screen with the same Comic Sans font on it. The loading screen popped up with a zero and then slowly turned into a one. You soon realized that the loading was going to take a while when it took 10 minutes for the 1 percent to turn to 2 percent.
Whelp, this is going to take a while.
***************************
Finally, after what seemed to take days, the loading screen was finally to 98 percent. You had finally felt excited for what felt like weeks. You wanted to see what this game looked like in gameplay and couldn't wait to see how it worked. Since there was still time for the game to load you reached into your desk to pull out a couple of sheets of paper and a pencil, thinking the game would be some sort of program that any math website would use. As the game reached 99 percent you started to have a weird gut feeling about this game. That you shouldn't continue with the game booting up, that you shouldn't continue siting here waiting for it to start to, and that you shouldn't have put in that weird disk into your PC to play it. But before you thought to do any of these things, your PC monitor instead of taking you to a game title, turned a bright white. Your whole screen was completely white which was blinding you from looking at your monitor. You then started to feel.... dizzy? Nauseous? You didn't know why you felt like this. Did you eat something weird, or was this sickness because of your monitor? You tried thinking of some other rational reason when all of a sudden,
everything went black.
Chapter 3: Not just a Hallucination
Chapter Text
Darkness was all that swirled in your mind.
Until you got up.
Slowly, you started to lift your head up, not daring to open your eyes. Once you did though, they immediately started to throb like crazy. Since it hurt so much you kept your eyes closed whilst your arms supported most of your body weight. When you got into a sitting position, you started to feel the ground. You soon realized that the texture of the floor was not the texture of carpet, but smooth and cold. Finally, you opened your eyes, only to be blinded by bright lights above you. It took you a while to get adjusted to them; once you did you realized with shock that you weren't in your dark room at home, but instead, inside some sort of classroom. It took you a while to get up, your legs for some reason felt all stiff and shaky. Once you were able to regain your balance, you leaned on a nearby empty desk and started to take in your surroundings. The classroom you were in was pretty small and only held a few desks in the room. There was also a huge whiteboard on the wall in front of the room with a math problem scribbled on it. After examining the room you decided to go outside of the room you were in. You started for the door that was behind you, a blue door with the number 99 on it. You slowly opened the door and you were soon greeted by hallway. Once you stepped out you decided to take in the surroundings. Across from the room you had just exited was another blue door with the number 99 on it. On your left there were two yellow doors with windows that led to another hallway. You tried to open them but found them locked. When you looked behind you you saw two more yellow doors and two windows. 'A way out!' you thought with relief. You sprinted towards the door and immediately went for the handle. You tried and tried and TRIED to open the door, but it was sadly locked. You then resorted to breaking open the window with your elbow but you ended up just bruising it.
You sat down facing the door, filled with defeat. And then, you did the only thing you thought of doing, you started to cry. You had started to think if you would even be able to get out of this mysterious place. As your minds thoughts were running and your face was stained with tears, you suddenly stopped hearing a voice behind you.
You quickly got up and turned around, wiping your tears in the process. Once you had turned around you found where the voice came from. In front of you was a very tall man who basically towered over you in height. He wore a plain green sweater with some blue pants and brown shoes to compliment the outfit. What was weirdest, you thought, was that he was mostly bald except for a single strand of hair on his head. The man had a huge smile on his face that looked like it was supposed to be welcoming but just gave off a very eerie vibe. The man started to talk now.
"Oh hi! Welcome to my school house!" the man said in a very weird tone. Since this was the only person you've seen all day in this strange world, you decided to approach him and ask him questions. You took a few steps toward the strange man. "Uhm, excuse me, d-do you know how I got here?" you asked, stuttering a bit out of nervousness. "Why you're in Nowhere in my school house silly." the man replied with the same cheery tone. "Can I go please? I don't know how I got here" you said once more. "If you want to leave, you're gonna have to collect all 7 notebooks. When you find a notebook, you'll have to solve a series of questions. Once you get them all right, you can go!" the strange man said. "You can call me Mr. Baldi!" he offered his hand to you to shake. You hesitated a bit but eventually took his hand and told him your name. You were soon directed to the same room that you had come out of. Once you got in you noticed something different this time. On the desk in the front of the room there was a pink notebook hovering above the desk. You looked behind you and saw that Baldi hadn't walked in with you. You then approached the notebook and upon making contact with it, a little green tablet popped in your hands with the name 'You can think Pad' in comic sans. On the right of the tablet were buttons with the numbers 0-9 on them. There was a screen in the middle of the tablet and a smaller screen on the bottom left too. Suddenly the 'You can Think Pad' screens turned on. On the bottom left screen, there was an image of Baldi's face.
Some numbers then popped up on the screen accompanied by the voice of Baldi reading out the math problem. "Two plus three equals?" Baldi read aloud. You simply pressed the number five and hit enter. You where then given two more easy math problems and soon instructed to get a 'shiny quarter' from Baldi. You stepped out of the room and was greeted by the tall bald man, hand held out. Once he opened it you indeed saw a shiny quarter and took it. You examined it for a little and then shoved it in the pocket of your shorts. After taking the quarter you then turned your head towards the other door. When you opened it you found another notebook, this time a blue one. You approached it and answered the first equation which was fairly easy. It took you a while to figure out the second question since you struggled on negative numbers, but you eventually had gotten it right. You believed you had these math problems down until the third and last question popped up on the screen. A bunch of numbers were pressed together in an unreadable equation. You figured that it was just an error and that Baldi would read out the question like the others. When Baldi finally read the question though, all that came out was static from his mouth. It scared you and made you jump. Finally you guessed by putting in the number 7. Suddenly though, the cheery music that the 'You Can Think Pad' usually played came to a stop as you saw Baldi's usual huge smile turn into a frown, his thin eyebrows lowering in an almost uncanny way. After you took the notebook, you were scared for some reason to go out in the hallway. Once you opened the door you saw that Baldi was gone. Suddenly, you heard a distant.... slapping noise? You looked through the windows of the yellow door in the hall and saw Baldi! Something was different though. He still had that uncanny frown on him and he held a ruler, or was it a yardstick? Whatever it was, it was a long wooden measuring tool that he was slapping in a terrifying rhythm. You didn't know what he meant to do with that ruler, but just seeing him with that expression and the way he somehow moved lightning quick with the slaps of his ruler was enough to convince you that he wanted to harm you. You turned around and ran towards the right of the hall. You got to two yellow doors and you flung them open, sprinting through an unknown hallway you hadn't seen before. As you were running though, you heard an echoey voice. "No running in the Halls." It said in an almost ghost like tone. Before you could see where it came from, you were scooped up and soon in another unknown roon with a disturbing looking man.
