Work Text:
Bin smiled as his phone rang the second the clock struck midnight. He knew who it was without even checking, for no one else would dare try to be the first one to wish him a happy birthday.
“Min! How are you? How’s filming going?” Bin greets, accepting the FaceTime call.
On the other end, Dongmin pouts back. “This call is not about that! This call is about you! Happy birthday Binnie!” He cheers, pulling a confetti popper out of nowhere and popping it.
Bin can’t help but let out a small laugh. “Thank you Min, but you shouldn’t have bothered with the confetti. Now you have to clean it up before bed.”
“It’s a small price to pay to see you smile. I’ve done a confetti popper for you every year since we first met. This year is no different.”
“It’s a tradition I look forward to.” Bin admits with a small smile.
“I wish I could’ve done it for you in person this year.” Dongmin sighs. “I’m sorry I’m not there… again.”
“Min, it’s not your fault. You cannot control when your drama is filming. I know that if you could be here you would.”
“Still. I feel bad, Binnie. This is the third year in a row I’m missing your birthday.”
“And the last two years you have made up for it as soon as you get back. We can do the same thing this year too.”
“It’s not the same. I really hope I’m there next year. I want to make your birthday special.”
Bin just smiles a bit. “Min, you make every single day of my life special, just by letting me love you. I couldn’t ask for more.”
“Nonsense. You deserve the world. I’m still working on taking it over for you.” Dongmin chuckles a bit.
“I’ll patiently wait for the day you give me my throne.” Bin jokes back with a smile. He loved when Dongmin was playful like this, when Dongmin was Dongmin rather than Cha Eunwoo.
“Dongmin-“ A male voice suddenly cuts in, seconds after the sound of a door opening. Bin watches as his boyfriend jumps and rushes to mute the call. He watches his boyfriend move off screen as he talks to whoever just entered his room, and his heart sinks. He didn’t recognize the voice of whoever it was.
After a few minutes, Dongmin comes back into view and unmutes himself. “Sorry about that, Binnie. Manager hyung just had a change of my schedule for tomorrow and wanted to alert me.”
Bin’s heart sinks even more. He knew their manager's voice, and that was not it. Besides, Dongmin never muted the microphone when it was just their manager. What was being hidden from him?
“Manager hyung? This late at night? Why didn’t he just text you?”
“He said he was passing by my room anyway so he figured to be sure I got it he’d just stop by real quick.” Dongmin shrugs back.
Dongmin was still lying to him. “Oh. Well I think I’m going to go get some sleep. Have a really long day tomorrow.”
“So sudden? Binnie is everything okay?”
“Yeah. Get some sleep, you have a long day tomorrow too.” Bin’s answer is dry, he was always one to wear his heart on his sleeve.
“Binnie?”
“Thanks for the birthday wishes Min. Goodnight.” With that, Bin ends the call.
“… Love you?” Dongmin whispers to the black screen before him. What the hell just happened? No ’sleep well’, no ‘love you’, no ‘fighting for tomorrow’, nothing? He tries calling Bin back, only for him to not answer.
‘I have no idea what just happened, but I love you Binnie. I hope you sleep well! I hope you have a good birthday, and try to find some time to celebrate despite busy schedules. Fighting for tomorrow!’ Dongmin sends a quick text, knowing he won’t get Bin to pick up. The sudden mood swing confused Dongmin, but maybe Bin was just really tired. He decided he might as well get some rest himself.
Bin ignores all other attempts at wishing him a happy birthday as he cries his heart out. Was he being a little over dramatic? Maybe. However, there was some random strange man in his boyfriend’s room after midnight, and his boyfriend lied about it. That couldn’t be a good sign, right? Bin cried himself to sleep.

It’s six thirty in the morning when a tired Bin stumbles into the kitchen.
“Good morning Bin! Happy birthday.” A somehow completely awake Myungjun greets him.
“Mhm? Oh, thanks Hyung.”
“Here! From Dongmin.” Myungjun says, handing him a bag that seemingly appeared from nowhere.
Inside, Bin finds a few of his favorite easy breakfast items and a note. He just looks at the bag now in his hands, and sighs.
“Bin? Something wrong?”
“No.” Bin says quickly, putting on his best fake happy smile. “Thanks for handing these off for him, hyung.” He nods, setting the bag on the kitchen counter.
“Yeah, no problem. Don’t leave them there, you know Sanha will get to them.”
“Oh, that’s fine.” Bin shrugs. “I think I’m going to shower now.” He nods before walking off.
“That’s fine?” Myungjun mumbles to himself. “That’s not the Bin I know. Something is definitely wrong.”
~*~
Bin quickly got ready and was being whisked away to his first schedule by seven. First today was filming for SNL. He was dreading it, as he certainly wasn’t in a good enough mood to film some comedy.
As soon as he stepped foot on set, he was met by some friends and coworkers wishing him a happy birthday. He was truly grateful that they remembered, as they had only met a short time ago, it was just hard for him to hide the mood he was currently in.
“Bin!” The manager he was currently with calls out for him. “A food truck arrived for you!”
“Please be from the fans.” Bin mumbles under his breath as he follows his manager out to see it.
He lets out an audible sigh as they arrive and he quickly finds out the food truck is not from the fans, rather the second present from his boyfriend.
“What’s the sigh for?” His manager was one of many staff members at the company that knew about his relationship with Dongmin. He assumed Bin would be more than thrilled to receive a food truck from his boyfriend on his birthday.
“Just not in the best mood. Just some personal stuff. Come on, let’s get some coffee.” Bin nods back, walking up to order.
Their manager quickly understood it was more than likely relationship issues, something he knew he shouldn’t touch. He took some pictures of Bin while he was ordering, but didn’t force him to take pictures in front of the truck, which Bin seemed grateful for. He then ushered Bin back inside, getting him ready for the day’s shoot.
~*~
Pretending to be in a good mood took more energy than Bin had. He slumped in the back of the car as his manager got behind the wheel.
“We have a bit of a drive back to the company. There should be blankets and pillows and other things like that in the back. Why don’t you get comfortable and get some sleep on our way back?”
“Since when are there pillows in here?” Bin asks, turning behind him to grab them. He lets out another sigh as he sees how they were folded. He only knew one person who folded everything together like that.
“Dongmin… had them put in here for you.” Their manager answers quietly.
“Of course he did. Whatever, too tired to refuse them.” Bin mumbles, setting himself up a nice little bed in the seat. He was asleep before his manager even got out of the parking lot.
Much too soon for Bin’s liking, they arrive at the company. He would spend most of his afternoon here, practicing with Sanha for their upcoming unit comeback.
He groans as he’s forced out of the car. Sanha usually makes practice fun at least.
He walks into the studio where Sanha is already warming up.
“Hyung! Happy birthday!” Sanha greets happily as he stretches his overly long limbs.
“Thanks Sanha.” Bin smiles a tiny bit, the youngest of the group truly did just naturally bring a smile to his face.
“Oh! Wait just a second.” Sanha hums, skipping over to his bag that was thrown in the corner. “Here! A gift for you!” He cheers, sliding it across the floor.
“You got me a present?” Bin asks, acting playfully shocked.
“Yahhh! Just open it.” Sanha whines.
Bin laughs it off, opening the present to find a couple sweats and shirts from his favorite workout clothing line.
“Your workout clothes have seen better days.” Sanha teases.
“I legit threw away two shirts and a pair of sweats last night.” Bin smiles. “Thanks Sanha, I really appreciate it.”
“Eh, I’m sick of looking at your work out clothes while we practice so...” Sanha shrugs. “And you know it wouldn’t be your birthday without Dongmin hyung here without him leaving ten thousand gifts behind for you to receive throughout the day.” He says, sliding another box over towards Bin.
Bin’s smile almost immediately falls. He was more or less hoping to forget about Dongmin for a while, and was thinking he would manage to forget while they practiced. Still, he tries to not let Sanha notice, opening the gift up with the best fake smile he could muster. Inside, he finds brand new sneakers, a pair he had been eyeing for a long time.
“Because, let’s be honest, your old shoes can’t even be called shoes anymore. They’re more of a tripping hazard.” Sanha points out Bin’s barely-holding-together shoes sitting against the wall.
There’s no response from Bin, only a small sigh.
Immediately, Sanha knows something is wrong. “Hyung? What’s wrong?”
“Huh? No, nothing is wrong. Thanks for handing these off for him.” Bin nods, quickly closing the box.
“Something is definitely wrong. You seemed fine until I gave you hyung’s present. Did Dongmin hyung do something?”
“No! Everything is fine. I’m going to go and change! Let’s work on the title track first. Let’s do Bad Idea as a warm up, yeah?” Bin smiles at him, before walking out of the room to go get changed.
Sanha sighs, knowing that this practice is not going to go well because Bin’s mind wasn’t in the right place. However, he can’t force his hyung to talk about his feelings, so he ques up Bad Idea and waits for Bin to get back.
~*~
“I’m sorry Sanha.”
Sanha was right, their practice didn’t go well at all. They didn’t get a single clean run of their title track, despite running it for several hours. They only took a break to eat lunch, which was takeout from Bin’s favorite restaurant sent to them by Dongmin, which only seemed to throw Bin off his game more.
“Don’t worry about it hyung. We all have bad days. I have them much more often than you.” Sanha jokes with a small smile.
“I have too much to do today for it to be a bad day.” Bin mumbles.
“All we have left for the day is filming for Show Champion!” Sanha cheers him on.
“Huh? What about the evening rehearsals?”
“I… asked manager hyung to cancel them earlier. It’s pretty clear to me that you aren’t having the best day, and because of that you were getting frustrated really easily. Sometimes when you have days like that, it’s better to walk away and try again the next day. I know that you know the choreo hyung. I’m not worried about us missing one evening's practice. A break would do both of us good honestly. Plus, we have so much time left to practice before the comeback. We can use the time to celebrate your birthday instead!”
Bin slumps against the chair of the van with a sigh. On one hand, he felt bad that he was the reason they canceled their evening rehearsal, but on the other hand, he was extremely grateful. “Thank you Sanha. I’ll do my best to not fuck up Show Champion too.”
“If you want to talk, let me know okay?”
Bin looks at Sanha, then looks at their manager in the front seat of the van. He knows that talking to someone about it would make him feel better, but the last thing he wanted to do was allow his manager to know about his relationship issues.
Sanha seems to notice, and slowly holds up his phone, letting Bin know they could text about it if he wanted.
Bin debated it for a minute, but eventually grabs his phone and starts typing.
A few minutes later, Sanha receives a long message about what happened on Bin’s facetime with Dongmin the night before. The last words made Sanha’s heart break: ‘So basically I’ve spent the entire day trying my best to convince myself Dongmin isn’t cheating on me and it’s not working.’
Bin sat, staring at the ceiling of the car, trying his best to stop the tears running down his cheek. He feels Sanha reach over and grab his hand, squeezing it slightly to let him know that he was there for him. Sanha doesn’t reply, but Bin wasn’t expecting him to. He knows that Sanha would not be dumb enough to try and defend Dongmin in any way, or to tell him that his worries were invalid. So he curls up the best he can in his seat, and wills himself to stop crying so his face isn’t puffy on television.
~*~
Jinwoo, Myungjun, and Minhyuk were all relaxing in the living room together when their door suddenly opened.
“Who on earth is that? Bin and Sanha shouldn’t be home for another hour at least.” Jinwoo mumbles, not really wanting to move.
“Maybe we’re being robbed.” Myungjun jokes, also not really wanting to move.
Suddenly Dongmin comes into view, carrying way too many bags.
“Hyung? Since when were you coming home today? Usually Bin hyung doesn’t shut up when you’re coming home.”
“Huh? Oh he didn’t know. It’s a surprise. Can you all help me decorate?”
“You are lucky I find this gesture incredibly sweet. If I didn’t, I’d tell you to decorate yourself.” Myungjun mumbles, forcing himself up.
“Well there goes my warmth.” Jinwoo pouts after Myungjun stops laying on him. “Guess I can help too.”
“Yeah, why not.” Minhyuk shrugs, finally getting up as well.
“Great. We’ve got about an hour, and we’ve got work to do.” Dongmin nods, starting to unpack his bags.
~*~
For the most part, filming for Show Champion goes over smoothly, and Bin is glad for it. He would’ve felt awful if he burdened anyone else today.
Currently, he sat in a room that had been decorated to celebrate his and Kangmin’s birthday, getting ready to take pictures when there was a knock at the door.
“I’ll get it!” Kangmin cheers, hoping up. A few seconds later he comes back with an overly large bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates. “Yah! Hyung someone sent you some presents.” He says, handing them over to Bin.
Bin freezes for a second, knowing damn well who it’s from without even reading the card.
Luckily, Sanha steps in quickly, taking them from Kangmin for him. “Let's just set those aside! Come on, let’s take pictures!”
“Is everything okay?” Kangmin asks, clearly confused. He knew about Bin’s relationship as well, after he found out on accident backstage one day. He figured the present’s were from Bin’s boyfriend, and that Bin would be ecstatic receiving them.
“Now is really not a good time.” Sanha whispers to Kangmin as he pushes him towards the wall to take photos.
Eventually, they take all the photos needed, they exchange gifts, and they pack up to head home.
Almost as soon as their car pulls out of the parking lot, Sanha holds up a fork along with the cake from Show Champion to Bin.
Bin smiles a tiny bit, and nods, sitting up and swinging his legs in between his and Sanha’s seat so they have something to balance the cake on.
Sanha places it down on his legs and opens the box up. “Chopsticks or fork?”
“Whatever you don’t want.” Bin shrugs, he was going to demolish this cake either way.
Sanha hands Bin a fork, knowing he prefers it for cake. The two practically eat the whole cake on the way home.
~*~
“And we’re done!” Dongmin exclaims, happily looking around their now decorated dorm.
“We are? There’s still a million bags over here.” Minhyuk says, pointing to the piles of bags that sat near their door.
“Huh? Oh those aren’t decorations, those are all presents.”
“THOSE ARE ALL PRESENTS?!” Myungjun yells.
“That’s… that’s a lot of presents.” Jinwoo agrees, stunned at the amount.
“Have you not met me? I am incapable of not buying way too many gifts. I should take them to my room, has anyone heard if they’re on their way back?”
Jinwoo grabs his phone off the counter. “Uh oh.” He mumbles quietly after reading a message on his phone.
“Uh oh? What’s wrong?” Myungjun asks as he watches Minhyuk and Dongmin attempt to move all the presents into Dongmin’s room.
“I got a text from Sanha. They are on their way back, but he said Bin is really upset and that he probably won’t want to be around a bunch of people right now.”
“Did you just say Bin is upset?” Dongmin asks, almost tripping over air as he comes to grab more bags.
“That’s what Sanha said. Do you not know anything about this?”
Dongmin pauses and checks his phone. “No.” He pouts a bit. “I’ve texted him a few times today but I haven’t gotten any responses. I figured he was just busy.”
“Wait, you haven’t gotten any responses? I’ve texted him a few times today too and I’ve gotten responses each time.” Minhyuk mentions.
“I only texted him once, but I got a response as well.” Myungjun nods. “Come to think of it, he was really off this morning. When I handed him that bag you gave me to give to him his smile almost immediately fell. Not only that, but he just left it on the counter, which is unlike him.”
“W-wait, what?” Dongmin asks, dropping everything he was holding as his heart sinks.
“Dongmin? Did something happen between you two?” Jinwoo asks softly.
“N-not that I can think of! I mean he also got a little strange last night on FaceTime, but I figured he was just… tired.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure! Maybe… maybe he’s more upset that I wasn’t here for his birthday then he said he was.”
“Let’s hope that’s the case.”
“If that is the case, then you being here should cheer him up!” Myungjun tried to stay positive.
“Y-yeah. That has to be it. There was nothing else.” Dongmin mumbles, but it sounds like he was trying to convince himself more than the others.
Minhyuk, who finished putting all the gifts in Dongmin’s room, comes and pats him on the back. “Stay positive. They’ll be back any minute now, and Bin hyung has never not been happy to see you.”
~*~
By the time the manager parks the car on the street by their dorm, Bin and Sanha only have a few bites of the cake left.
“Can you help me Sanha?”
“Of course I can. What do you need help with?”
“I… can you help me get the others to just leave me alone for an hour? I know they’re probably going to want to do something since it is my birthday and all, but I just… I have spent all day pretending I am okay. And it has taken all of my energy. I am exhausted. I just need an hour to not have to pretend.”
“I get it. I’m happy to help hyung. If there’s anything else I can do, let me know okay?”
Bin just nods a tiny bit. “Thank you Sanha.” He mumbles before grabbing his bag and getting out of the car.
Inside the dorm, the other four are rushing around to put on some final touches on their decorations.
“They’re here!” Minhyuk announces.
Dongmin can’t help but smile. He was so excited that he managed to pull off this surprise for his boyfriend without spoiling it, especially since their manager had come into his room while he was on the phone with Bin to discuss a few last details.
“Are you excited Dongmin?” Myungjun asks with a smile.
Dongmin nods enthusiastically. “It was so hard keeping this a secret. Manager hyung even almost spoiled it last night!” He laughs a small bit.
“Bin is going to love it. I just know it.” Jinwoo nods. “I hear footsteps so everyone be quiet!”
Dongmin clasps his hands together, waiting excitedly as they listen to the passcode being typed in.
The door opens slowly, and soon Sanha comes into view, his eyes going wide at the sight before him. Seconds later Bin enters.
“Happy birthday Binnie!” Dongmin smiles the second their eyes meet.
“Uh oh.” Sanha mumbles under his breath.
Bin didn’t smile, in fact he didn’t move a single muscle. He was frozen in place, unsure what to do.
“Binnie?” Dongmin asks softly, his smile falling a little bit.
Suddenly, Bin drops everything in his hands and turns around, walking right back out the door.
“What’s going on?” Jinwoo asks immediately, turning to Sanha.
“Hyung…” Sanha says softly, looking right at Dongmin. “Who was in your room last night?”
“What?”
“I’m not trying to take sides hyung, really I’m not. However, all day, hyung has been sad because he heard another voice in your room. He said someone walked in last night during your call, that it was a voice he didn’t recognize, and that you panicked and muted the call and went off screen to talk to whoever it was. He said that you told him it was manager hyung when he asked, which he said was a lie, because again he didn’t recognize the voice and you apparently never mute the call when it’s manager hyung. Again, I’m not trying to take sides, but I hope you understand how this looks.”
At this point, Bin was long gone.
“He thinks I’m cheating on him?!” Dongmin asks as tears stream down his cheeks.
“Obviously, none of the rest of us were there to witness it, but that is his side of the story, and that is what he thinks. Can you blame him?” Sanha asks softly.
“B-but it was manager hyung! He came into my room last night while we were on the phone to let me know the time of our flight back today was changed! The reason I panicked and muted it was because this was a surprise for him and if I hadn’t muted it he would’ve found out!”
“What about him not recognizing the voice?”
“Manager hyung lost his voice two days ago! It’s coming back slowly so he sounds different right now! Do you seriously believe I would cheat on him?!”
“Hyung, that’s the thing. I don’t believe for a second that you would cheat on him. That’s why I am trying to figure out what’s going on because clearly there’s been a few misunderstandings.”
“I… okay Dongmin rational brain, stop crying, clean yourself up, go find him.” Dongmin starts to mumble to himself as he starts to move around to get ready to go out into the cold to find Bin.
“Dongmin, are you sure going to him right now is the best plan of action? What would you even say to him to make him believe you?” Jinwoo asks softly.
This is enough to make Dongmin pause half way through putting on his coat. “I have no idea.” He admits softly. “All I know is my boyfriend is outside in the freezing cold, doubting my love for him. To make it even worse, it’s his birthday. What am I supposed to do? Sit here and let him dwell in these thoughts? Absolutely not. I’ll figure it out.” He nods before continuing to get ready to head out.
“Okay. If you’re sure we won’t stop you. Let us know if we can do anything to help.” Jinwoo nods.
“So that’s why he was so off this morning.” Myungjun mumbles to himself.
“I think I know where he is. It’s my relationship. I made this mess. I can fix it. I’ll text if I need something.” He mumbles, before heading out.
“Well. This has been interesting. Anyone down for some games while we wait?”
~*~
Dongmin groans a bit as he trips a bit over some branches. Why did Bin have to have such a complicated hiding place? Just a few more steps and he should arrive.
“Go away.” Bin mumbles, hearing the leaves rustle as Dongmin arrives at the small clearing Bin had found a few years back.
“Binnie. Can we please talk?”
“Go… away!” Bin’s voice wavered.
“Please don’t cry. Please give me a chance to explain. I’m begging you.”
“I don’t… I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want your excuses, Eunwoo.”
Dongmin’s heart sank. Bin never called him Eunwoo outside of group schedules. He hated when Bin called him Eunwoo. “Bin, please.”
“I already told you no Eunwoo.”
“Stop calling me Eunwoo.” Dongmin bites out, letting his anger get the best of him.
This bite from Dongmin is what finally causes Bin to snap. “Well sorry but that’s the only you I know!” He yells out, finally turning around to face Dongmin. “You are Eunwoo. You want to know why?! Because Dongmin would never cheat on me. Dongmin would never keep secrets from me. Dongmin would never lie to me, especially not after I questioned him about it!” Dongmin was suddenly glad they were tucked away in a small clearing a small distance into some woods, as Bin was getting louder and louder with each word. Suddenly Bin stops, and drops back down to his normal voice. “But you know who would do all those things? Eunwoo. Eunwoo would cheat on me. Eunwoo would lie to me. Mister super-star-top-model-lead-actor Cha Eunwoo. Cha Eunwoo, the one who killed Lee Dongmin.” Bin this time gets quieter and quieter, practically whispering the last sentence. “I don’t know why you’re back in town, Eunwoo, but don’t feel obligated to be here for my birthday. We are group mates and nothing more. Go back to your filming site. I’m sure there’s already someone in your bed waiting for a hookup.” Bin scoffs, before finally starting to walk past Dongmin and out of the clearing, back into the woods.
Dongmin takes it all in, trying his best to not take anything personally. He knows deep down that Bin doesn’t actually mean any of it. “I’m here because I came to surprise you for your birthday you fucking idiot.” He tried to not take it personally, but he didn’t fully succeed. “It was manager hyung in my room last night. The reason I panicked and muted the call was because I was sure he was going to discuss something about the surprise I had planned for you. Turns out, our flight time home today was changed and he was informing me of that.” Bin was still walking away, so Dongmin followed him. “Had I not muted the call you would’ve found out I was flying home today which would’ve completely ruined the surprise. I moved off camera so you couldn’t read my lips for the same reason!”
Bin finally pauses and turns around once again. “Are you seriously still lying to me right now Eunwoo?!” He asks angrily. “We have three total managers. All three of which I could pick out of a crowd based on voice alone. Especially the one you were with, as he’s been our manager the longest. The voice that I heard did not belong to any of the three of them, do you think I’m stupid?!”
“God you really are so stubborn sometimes!” Dongmin groans and grabs his phone. They must have gotten just close enough to the outside of the woods because he had service again. He quickly taps on their manager’s contact and hits the call button.
“Hello?”
Dongmin shoves the phone into Bin’s hand. “You want proof? Here’s your proof!”
“Who is this?!” Bin asks, looking at the contact information. He just rolls his eyes when he sees it’s their manager. At least he could use this to prove to himself once and for all that the voice of their manager and the voice he heard last night were not the same. Bin holds the phone up to his ear.
“Dongmin? Is something wrong? Was that Bin?”
Bin freezes and drops the phone. It was the same voice.
Dongmin grabs his phone from the ground, ignoring the new crack that had formed, and turning on the speakerphone. “Hyung, just wanted to call and see if you were doing any better after you LOST YOUR VOICE the other day.”
Bin just stands there, frozen, having no idea what to do.
“Yeah, so I’m fine, however this seems like a relationship argument, which per my contract I’m not actually allowed to take any part in.”
“It’s fine hyung. Already got everything I needed. Rest well.” Dongmin hangs up the call.
Bin wanted to run and hide. He just said so many awful things to a person he was supposed to love over something that didn’t even happen.
“Binnie. Please don’t run from me.” Dongmin says softly as if reading his mind. “I know you didn’t mean any of it. Binnie, please stop crying.”
Bin was shocked, he hadn’t even noticed a whole new stream of tears rolling down his cheeks.
“I was so focused on trying my best to keep me coming home, a total surprise from you, that I didn’t stop to think that what I did on that call could’ve been taken any other way. For that, I really am truly sorry. I’m so sorry that I am the reason you’ve been sad all day.” As Dongmin talks, he is slowly getting closer and closer to Bin. “Please forgive me, Binnie. I love you so, so much. I’d have to be the biggest idiot in the entire world to do anything that would jeopardize our relationship.” He says softly, finally pulling Bin into a hug once he gets close enough.
Bin tenses up more for a moment, before he finally allows himself to be comforted by Dongmin. “Fuck. M-min I’m… I’m so sorry.” He sobs out, his entire body shaking against Dongmin.
“You do not owe me an apology, Binnie. It’s okay. Please calm down.” Dongmin says softly, holding him close.
“I… I do. I just assumed you were cheating and then I wouldn’t let you explain and then I… I said some really really awful things. W-we are so much more than just band mates I’m sorry I ever said otherwise I-“
“Binnie. Please breathe. I know you didn’t mean any of it. Seriously, it's okay. We’re okay. Please calm down. Let’s go back to the dorm and talk okay? It’s really cold out here and you are not wearing enough to protect yourself.”
Bin doesn’t reply, but Dongmin wasn’t expecting him to. He slowly backs out of the hug, and watches as Bin shivers more at the loss of the extra heat. Dongmin quickly grabs the scarf off his neck and wraps it around Bin’s neck. “I know it’s not much but hopefully it’ll help a bit. Come on, let’s go back.” He says, pulling Bin softly and starting the rest of the way out of the woods and back to their dorm.
Not too long later, the two of them make it back to the building where their dorm is.
“Min?” Bin says softly.
“Yes Binnie?”
“I’m… I’m really sorry that I’ve ruined our night. You came all this way to make my birthday even more special and this is how I acted.”
Dongmin suddenly stops walking, just down the hall from their dorm, almost causing Bin to walk straight into him. He then turns around, grabbing both of Bin’s hands. “Please don’t think like that. You thought I was cheating on you. Just think, had you forced yourself to pretend that everything was okay tonight, things could have snowballed and ended very badly. You probably would have been more cold and distant towards me, which probably would have made me insanely pissed off, which probably would’ve caused us to fight, and be way worse off then we are right now. I am not mad at you, not even in the slightest. You did not ruin our night. Look at the time Binnie, the night is still young, we still have plenty of time to celebrate.”
Bin takes a shaky breath, trying his best to not start crying once again. “I love you so much.” He whispers, tightening the hold of their hands.
“I love you too, Binnie.” Dongmin whispers back, quickly placing a soft kiss on his cheek. “Are you ready to go back in? Or do you need a few more minutes?”
“I’m… I’m ready.” Bin nods back after a minute, finally showing a slight smile to Dongmin.
Dongmin smiles softly back, turning back around, keeping Bin’s hand in his, and leading them the rest of the way to their dorm.
The next few hours were spent celebrating with their group mates: eating a late dinner that consisted of Bin’s favorite foods, playing some games, having a drink or two, and opening some presents. The next hour and a half after that, Bin chose to take full advantage of his boyfriend being with him for his birthday.
“I love you so much.” Bin whispers into Dongmin’s ear as the two cuddle close after all the shenanigans are over.
“You’re only saying that because we just had amazing sex.” Dongmin teases back.
This causes Bin to let out a hearty laugh. “You’re right. When I say I love you, I really mean that I love your fantastic ass.” He jokes, grabbing it for good measure.
Dongmin just rolls his eyes and chuckles, before moving up and bringing Bin into a deep kiss. Bin’s breath hitches a bit just before their lips meet, and Dongmin can’t help but smile that he caught him slightly off guard.
