Cosmic Hugs

Summary:

I have no chill so here's some more Streya and Meg

Work Text:

Streya was getting bored. It had been a while since she'd seen Meg and the other humans all seemed so scared when she got close. She just wanted to know all about them, what it's like being so small and thinking like she did. She also wanted to know more of those pronoun things, what exactly they meant. She sighed as she started to float closer to the planet again. She missed Meg.

"Streya!" Meg called. Streya was almost too excited. She rushed to the little planet getting closer than usual before she copied the atmosphere. She wanted to find the little human quickly. "Can you see me?"

Just as the question was asked, Streya found her. She quickly grabbed a strand of her hair and lowered it near her. She paused as she did, moving it away a bit so Meg could choose to be picked up herself. Streya would rather choose so she'd let Meg choose. She squealed when Meg walked toward her hair and let the gravity pull her in.

Streya tried to keep calm as she pulled the little human off the planet. She didn't want to scare her away. She couldn't contain her excitement once she'd brought her hair out completely, placing Meg on her finger as fast as she could. She brought the little human up to her eye, relieved to see a smile.

"Meg," she smiled. Meg nodded and waved, it was unbelievable to find something that thought like her and was so tiny.

"Can we move away a bit? Your voice is really loud everyone can hear when you talk," Meg asked.

Streya's face dropped, but she did as asked. She didn't know if loud was bad, but it must be if she had to leave. She just wanted to know everything about humans. She couldn't wait to revisit other places, they might have little things that can talk now too. Meg would stay her favorite. She stopped moving once she'd have to stretch to reach Meg's home.

"Is this good?" she asked, Meg nodded. She started to just float around again. She flipped herself so she was holding her finger above her face. "Is loud bad? I am so curious about humans I don't want to hurt any of you."

"N-no loud isn't bad, can you hold me like before please?" Meg sounded scared. Streya flipped over again so she was looking down at Meg instead. She felt like she was ruining her chances with the only thing that's ever spoken to her.

"Is this better?" A small nod, almost too small for her to catch. "Was the other way bad? Did I do something wrong?"

"You didn't do anything wrong, you just didn't know that humans can’t be upside down like that for long. All the blood rushes to our head and can make us get sick or hurt." Streya tilted her head. More new words.

"What's blood?" Meg had a big smile and she hoped that meant good things.

"Humans have it in their bodies. It keeps us living. It's usually a red color, but some people think without oxygen it looks blue. I'm not sure myself, but I don't think it's true." Streya was shocked. She brought Meg close enough her little body was basically touching her eye. She couldn't see anything that looked red or blue on her. She squinted her eyes a bit. Meg started laughing.

"Streya it's under my skin. You can't see it, unless you can see through my skin somehow," Meg said.

Streya pulled her back with a pout. When she was far enough she brought a finger up next to Meg. She slowly brought the tip closer, feeling the difference between Meg's face and the stuff below. She knew sort of what they were, she knew most things in a way. This was different, Meg felt like a much colder star.

"You feel like a cold star," she murmured. Meg felt warmer after that and changed colors again. She could see red on her now. "Is the red now the blood you were talking about?"

"S-sort of, it's behind my cheeks to make me look like that. It's safe like this though," Meg answered. Streya nodded. "Oh, before I forget loud isn't bad, you're not a painful loud. It's like your voice just reaches everyone. It's weird, but not bad."

"So it's ok for me to talk near rth?" She pulled Meg close again leaving her other hand behind.

"It's earth and yeah. Just better when talking like this not to be too close." Streya nodded, she didn't understand, but there was a lot she probably wouldn't understand.

Streya started to let herself float around. She didn't usually feel right staying still, the things around her didn't. She kept looking at Meg, she wondered what the little human really thought. Meg didn't seem scared of her like the others, it was nice. She didn't know this feeling, but having someone to talk to made her happy. It was like something she needed and never knew.

"Streya, there was a reason I called your name today," Meg started. Streya was worried, it sounded different from how she normally spoke. She stopped floating and brought Meg close enough to touch her eye again. Meg turned colors again, she was dying to know if she did that too. "W-well after you put me back, important people came to talk to me. They wanted me to work as a kind of diplomat between you and well, humans…"

"What's a diplomat?" she asked. She didn't care as long as she could keep talking to Meg.

"Well it's basically someone who you have meetings and talks with on behalf of others. Basically they want you to, well… talk to mostly or uh only me…" She didn't get it, but it sounded like she could keep talking to Meg. Although maybe not other humans…

"So they want me to talk to you and not other little humans? Will you get in trouble if I talk to others?" She didn't want Meg in trouble. The little human started waving her hands in front of her. One touched Streya's eye, it felt weird against her. Not a bad weird, but Meg looked guilty.

"Oh man, I'm sorry, are you ok? Does your eye hurt oh no, I was worried I'd do that please don't be too mad it was an accident." She pulled Meg away a bit.

"Why would I be mad? You just touched me, I touch you the whole time we're talking."

"That didn't hurt you? So you look humanoid, but your eyes are different…"

Meg started to mumble to herself quietly. Streya couldn't hear her but smiled at the human. It seemed like a good thing happened after all. She was growing more curious about the thing she was talking about and what waving her arms meant. She twitched the finger holding Meg a bit to get the human's attention. She changed colors again.

"Sorry, I get lost in my head sometimes," she smiled. Streya smiled back at her.

"You say sorry too much. What did the waving arms mean?" she asked. She didn't mind if Meg was lost in her head, whatever that meant. Having her here felt nice even if they weren't talking.

"Right! I won't get in trouble if you try to talk to anyone else. It's more a request not to pick up anyone else besides me unless asked…" Streya started nodding.

"I would give anyone a choice like I did you. I don't think I'd like being picked up without a choice. If you think like me I'm guessing that's the same." Meg had a smile on her face. It made something in her chest almost burn.

"I told them not to worry. You're not going to hurt anyone or cause alien abductions."

Meg was laughing to herself. That burning in Streya's chest grew a bit stronger. Meg was so nice, she wanted to thank her. She'd seen humans holding each other while she'd been left alone the last while. She wanted to try that.

Carefully she moved the finger with Meg lower until she was perpendicular to her chest. She couldn't hear the little human well, but it would be fine. She brought her finger closer to her chest until she was nearly pressing into herself. She looked down at how Meg was standing and made sure to press her flat against her chest. She pressed her close and hoped this was like the things she saw.

Streya stayed like that for a bit. She slowly pulled her finger away, panicking when she brought her hand up and Meg wasn't there. She felt relieved when she found the human still holding on to her. She shifted so her chest was beneath Meg's feet. She brought her hair close and waited for the feeling of holding something.

She saw the change once Meg had reached the strand and pulled her up. She smiled at the human who looked calm. She set her on her palm looking at just how small Meg was to her. She didn't know how to explain herself. She brought her hand up until it rested by her eyes.

"Was that a hug?" Meg asked. Streya didn't know for sure, but the word sounded right.

"I think that's what I was trying to do. Was that bad?" Streya whispered. Meg was shaking her head.

"No, but a bit more warning when you're pulling away next time would be nice."

"I can do it again?!" Meg nodded.

Streya was excited. She started floating around again, careful to avoid the large star that made Meg nervous before. Meg was mumbling to herself again, but that was fine. She wanted to hear even more once Meg was done being lost. Maybe give her another tiny hug too.
