Work Text:
It was just after seven in the morning, but Jim Hopper had been awake for an hour.
He barely moved in bed so as not to wake the other person next to his. He only changed his position to lie on his side facing the woman he loved.
Joyce Byers slept peacefully by his side after having spent most of the night being honest about their feelings until they realized that their bodies together loving each other would say much more than words. He smiled bringing a hand to her face to remove a strand of hair that insisted on falling on her face.
Hopper sighed running his eyes over her face keeping each part in his memory. He had lost count of how many times he thought during these eight months that he was going to die, that he was going to die without having said goodbye to his daughter and the love of his life. The only thing that comforted him about it was that, at least, he wouldn't be alone up there, that his little Sarah was waiting for him. Still, he wanted to see Jane one last time, to tell her how much she had changed his life and how grateful he was for it. He wanted to look Joyce in the eye one last time and tell her how he felt. He wanted to pull her close to his chest and bury his face in the strands of her hair to inhale her signature scent. He wanted to tell her that he had never stopped being in love with her.
Now, there was no last time. Now he could tell her how much he loved her every day, he could hug her, kiss her and love her as he had always wanted to do. He couldn't wait to wake up to her every day and enjoy their weird little family together.
His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his door and a voice calling his name behind it. He looked at Joyce who hadn't flinched, she had just buried her face a little deeper into the pillow. He got up and searched for his pants on the floor before walking to the door.
“Wake up, puppies in love!” He yelled as Hopper opened the door and looked him up and down.
“Murray, what the fuck? Why do you have to scream? Joyce is asleep.”
He stopped talking when he saw that Murray's attention was far away from him, rather his attention was focused inside his room.
“Wow.” Murray smiled. He started clapping and laughing.
Hopper followed Murray's gaze to the bed. Joyce had moved on the bed until she was face down. The sheet had moved over her body until it was over her lower back, covering what was necessary so as not to embarrass her. Only her bare back was visible and if you look at Hopper's bare chest, it reveals what had happened the night before..
“Murray.” Jim warned quietly moving in the doorway to cover the view of the room with his large body.
“It's about time you ended this sexual tension that was suffocating us all.” He celebrated.
“Murray, stop.” He growled again crossing his arms.
“Come on, Jim, are you going to be shy now?” Murray asked, tapping a finger on his chest.
“Out of here.” Hopper said closing the door when he felt the blush on his cheeks but Murray avoided it by pushing the door.
“Do you know that these walls are like a sheet of paper?” He hinted. “You don't have to hide that y-”
“Yes, Murray, we've fucked.” Joyce yelled, her voice muffled by the pillow. “Now go away.”
Hopper smiled at the sound of his wife's voice. Murray raised his hands in surrender before making the gesture to zip his mouth shut. When Jim closed the door, he heard him shout with happiness calling Dimitri.
As he turned on his heel, he looked at Joyce who was smiling with closed eyes. He walked over to the bed and lay down closer to her. Hopper kissed her shoulder before trailing kisses along her back listening to her moan.
“Good morning.” He whispered in her ear.
Joyce turned and wrapped her arms around his neck before kissing him deeply. At this point, he didn't care about morning breath. She had dreamed for months of waking up with him beside her and kissing him.
“Morning.” She answered by wrapping her legs around his hips as he kissed her neck. “Hopper…”
“What?” He asked smiling into her neck at the tone in her voice.
“If we don't get out soon, Murray is gonna show up around here again.” She warned.
“Well, let him show up.” He said against her lips before kissing her urgently pressing against her. A moan tore from Joyce's throat, making Hopper's erection no longer unnoticed.
He broke away from her for a moment to remove his pants at Joyce's insistence. He kissed her as he cupped his erection in one hand and aligned it with her entrance. Joyce closed her eyes preparing to feel Jim inside her but that moment never came. Instead, Murray's voice filled the room threatening to come in if they didn't come out soon.
“This can’t be real.” Hopper groaned letting his head fall between Joyce's breasts.
“I told you.” She said trying to calm her breathing.
“Hopper, let go of your wife. We leave in twenty minutes.” Dimitri warned when Murray silenced his screams.
“We’re going!” Hopper yelled back. He turned his head toward Joyce and smiled, bringing a hand to her cheek. “I promise to make it up to you later.”
“We have time” She smiled before kissing him. “Now, it's time to go home.”
Home.
After eight months of torture, he was going home.
After thinking that his life was over after jumping off that platform, he was going to go home.
He was going home to his wife and their family.
Finally.
