Work Text:
Jay is hungry.
He's in a daze, stomach rumbling as he looks around, his foot sliding behind him as incoherent grumbles leave his mouth.
By a swift, a figure sprints past him. His nostrils flared at the scrumptious smell, inhaling as he catches a glimpse of the boy who flew right by.
Jungwon's practically gone from his sight in quick motion, footsteps inaudible as he ran lightly. Though it was quick, Jay still saw him— hair disheveled, the sleeves of his blue cardigan rolled up, and he was holding a pack of corn chips while tiptoeing around fast the hallways of Sunoo's house.
"F…Food…" Jay gulps, following after where Jungwon had left off, clutching on his stomach as he drags himself. "Hungry."
"Jungwon," he whispers, and closes his eyes as he envisions yet again the boy's fleeting appearance.
Mouthwatering.
There were still remnants of memories stored in Jay's brain. He's only been freshly bitten, after all, though his heart breaks at how it was his two best friends, Heeseung and Jake, who had tackled him to the ground in their zombie-state.
He remembers staring at the ceiling of some room. Staring as Jungwon had fled off just in time Jake saw Jay try to escape with him.
That's okay. At least Jungwon didn't see him like this. It would absolutely ruin him if his boyfriend had seen him that way, on the floor with two heavy bodies attacking him.
And by that moment he felt himself turn, that was the end for him.
It all started when six of them came to visit Sunoo, but the moment the door had been closed, Sunghoon (who was the most excited to see Sunoo again) let out a shrill scream when Sunoo grabbed him from nowhere.
The virus took Sunoo first, and then he passed it to Sunghoon. It was insane how he saw his friends turn into zombies, even crazier now that he is one.
And Jay doesn't want to do more harm than good, but no matter how hard he tries, he can't control himself, as though losing touch of reality.
There was only one thought echoing in his mind over and over again, running around his brain in circles. His empty stomach begging to be filled, no matter what circumstances or how. He needs to eat. He's famished.
Seeing Jungwon for just a split second made his head hazy and it drove him delirious.
He wants a taste.
Suddenly, a sound snaps Jay off his trance. He sees Ni-ki on the ground, the boy flailing his arms as he shrieks.
"S-Sunoo-hyung!" Ni-ki shakes his head and grits his teeth, trying to get Sunoo off of him, but it is already too late. "Sunoo-hyung," came Ni-ki's weak voice, and Sunoo groaned in reply.
Sunoo had attacked him, and soon enough, there was no more movement coming from the youngest as he fell limp on the floor. Any minute now, he'd be opening his eyes and rising once again to quench his bloodlust.
Without much thought, Jay tries to approach them, but Sunoo glares at him, making Jay stop in his tracks. His voice is harsh, and Jay understands what he's saying. Maybe it's zombie-talk. Sunoo tells him to find someone else and leave, so Jay does.
He walks around, stumbling door-to-door. "Who's left?" Comes grumbles from Sunghoon who meets him in the living room.
Jake replies. "Jungwon."
"Jungwon?" A squeak from Jay. Jungwon. His boyfriend. Somewhere inside the house is Jungwon hiding and running around, alone. Scared.
Alive.
Food.
Just the thought alone makes Jay gulp, and he's reminded again of the fact that he's starving and he'd do anything to satiate his hunger.
He doesn't say anything more to his zombie friends, walking away when just in time, as if a miracle has been sent because of his prayers, Sunoo unlocked a door with a key dangling from his finger, and by the second the door unlocked, Jungwon pushes Sunoo with what seems to be a cushion from the couch and runs off as fast as he could.
"GET HIM!" Sunoo hisses, and Ni-ki who had finally risen from the dead tries to catch Jungwon, but Jay just so happens to be by the hallway Jungwon just sprinted past to, so he knocks Ni-ki over with his side before the younger could get ahold of his boyfriend, and runs to match Jungwon's pace.
He slides a hand on his waist and pushes him close protectively, the two scurrying away from the hands of the zombies who's goal is to capture the only human left in the house.
They scramble to a door— it's Sunoo's bedroom, and the others haven't seen them get in there.
Still, with the doorknob locked, Sunoo could still use his keys, so Jungwon grabs a chair and places it firmly against the doorknob (he had seen them in movies, to be frank).
When the door looks secure, Jungwon sighs in relief, but it is short-lived as he immediately jumps away from Jay, eyes wide and cute.
"Jay-hyung," Jungwon backs away. His cat-like eyes peering over at Jay cautiously, and Jay sees how he gulps in fear. "Y-You…"
"Don't be scared," he whispers, stepping forward everytime Jungwon backs away.
"It's me. It's hyung," he slowly says as though wanting Jungwon to process every word that came from his mouth.
"You're," Jungwon pauses, shoulders tensing when his back collides with the wall. Jay has practically cornered him now, hands pressed on the wall behind either of Jungwon's hips.
The younger squirms, looking at Jay through his eyelashes, "You've been bitten, haven't you?"
Jay figures he might be scaring Jungwon too much. Jungwon, his sweet, sweet boyfriend. Sweet, like honey.
God, he's hungry.
He's hungry, he's hungry, he's hungry.
"It doesn't matter now, does it?" He replies, hand lifting up to caress Jungwon's cheek, and as if through instinct, his boyfriend leans on his touch and closes his eyes.
"I'll always protect you," his thumb traces Jungwon's dimple, and slowly makes its way to his lower lip.
Jay would have leaned in to peck Jungwon's lips or give him a long kiss, but he fails to do so when Jungwon swats his arm away and glares at him.
"You're still a zombie."
The younger pushes him with all his strength and tries to flee but before he could, Jay grabs him from behind.
"Stay still!" He whispers in his ear, "They'll hear you!"
The doorknob rattled and Jay could feel Jungwon's surprise. He puts him down gently and leads Jungwon to the closet. "Hide."
Jungwon nods his head warily and pushes the clothes to the side, before hiding inside.
The zombies outside were trying to get the door open, so Jay crouches down in front of Jungwon.
"Can you let me in? They'll know you're in here if they found me here, and I'll make sure you're safe," Jay mutters.
He sees Jungwon's hesitance. "Jungwon-ah. Can you trust me?"
A sigh. Jungwon ended up nodding his head and soon enough, the two were inside the dark, cramped space.
There was silence for a bit, and the more seconds passed by, the more Jay could feel his hunger devour every last piece of him, and he looked at Jungwon who's looking through the gap of the door, watching if the zombies had gone inside.
Jay clenches his fist like a mental slap to his face to pull himself together. Though, he couldn't pry his eyes off the younger.
Jungwon's so pretty, and Jay finds himself with his lips slightly parted as he stares at his beautiful boyfriend who looks around in caution.
His dark hair unkempt, his eyes wide and attentive. And he looks handsome by a tenfold wearing that white t-shirt and cardigan that fit his body too well.
Jay was so busy ogling Jungwon that he didn't notice the younger looking at him with an eyebrow raised.
And Jay loses every bit of his sanity, leaning closer and closer, and Jungwon tries to push him away but he holds tightly onto his wrists to stop him from doing so.
With Jungwon's fists against his chest, Jay has kissed his neck and he thinks in his head.
'I'm sorry, Jungwon. I'm sorry.'
He digs his teeth into Jungwon's skin, and he can't face him. He couldn't face the sheer betrayal in Jungwon's eyes, couldn't face how his eyebrows knitted together in pain.
It hurts Jay so much, but at the same time, his heart rejoices as he's finally doing something for his starvation.
"O…Ow," Jungwon mumbles and Jay smiles, his tongue grazing to where he had bitten to try and relieve Jungwon from the impact of his teeth, lips then smothering him with kisses.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry."
He feels a sharp slap on his back and he winces, looking up to see Jungwon glaring at him.
"What the hell did you do that for?!" He groaned and the two immediately walked out of their hiding place. "You didn't have to actually bite me!"
Jay giggles as he watches Jungwon stomp his feet. "Jay-hyung! If you could have waited one more minute, I would have won the fucking game!"
Before they could open the door completely, Jay gives Jungwon a back-hug and kisses the spot on his neck where he had bitten, then kisses his lips.
"I'm sorry," he pouts, "I've been starving. I haven't eaten breakfast and I'm dying for lunch."
"I told you to eat breakfast before leaving, dummy."
"But you practically pulled me out of bed and told me we had to leave for Sunoo's house! So I had no time, I had to prepare my clothes, shower, and all that stuff, Wonie, you know that!"
"You realize you could have gone outside to buy something, right?" Jungwon deadpanned.
Jay shakes his head, "Nooo. You heard Sunoo. He made it very clear no one leaves unless the game's finished. Plus, he's watching me."
Jungwon rolls his eyes but he snorts anyway, opening the door to find all five of their friends expecting them.
"Finally!" Heeseung cheers.
"The game's over!!!" Sunghoon does his happy dance.
Sunoo was cackling, but it dies down when he scrutinizes the two. "Oh my god. You two didn't do anything in my bed, right? There's a bite mark on Jungwon's neck."
Everyone screams in horror.
Jay sheepishly chuckles, "All of you are so dramatic."
'As if he hadn't been dramatic the entire time,' Jungwon thinks, but he smiles anyway and places a kiss on Jay's cheek.
"Let's go grab something to eat?"
Jay holds his hand and beams, nodding his head excitedly.
"Hell yeah."
