"Iris," David said. "What are you and your two shadows doing by the crime lab again?"
"These are my nephews, Wally and Wallace," Iris said, gestured at the young teen standing next to her and the toddler holding her hand. "Wally, this is David Singh," Iris said.
"Hello, sir," Wally said. Wallace waved.
"Hello, Wally, it's nice to meet you," David said. "Iris."
"I know, I know," Iris said. "I'm just here to pick Barry up, he's supposed to be having dinner with us, and you know Barry."
"I'm sure he's on his way," David said, discretly gesturing at someone through the door. "He did mention your nephews visiting once or twice."
"Or a hundred times," Forrest said.
"It was not that many times," Barry said, stepping out the lab and kissing Iris' cheek. "It could have been a few times."
"Hi, Barry!" Wally said, beaming.
"Hey, kiddo!" Barry said and ruffled his hair. "I found those old comics if you still want them."
"Really?"
Wallace waddled over and tugged on Barry's leg. Barry crouched and lifted him up onto his shoulders.
"We should go," Iris said. "We don't want to be late."
"Me, late?" Barry asked and Iris laughed.
"You wouldn't want them to miss the surprise, would you?" Iris said.
"There's a surprise?" Wally asked. "Come on, Barry!"
He tugged on Barry to drag him out the building, Iris close, the two of them so happy, walking so close their shadows joined into one.
"They're good for each other," Forrest said. "Those kids approve."
"I think theirs was the only opinion Iris cared about," David said. "Did he take the box out of his desk?"
"What box?"
"I'm sure he'll tell everyone soon enough."
