Work Text:

She was back. After full years to prepare herself academically, Lena returns home.

The brunette returned to her beloved Luthor Academy. A long-lived institution that was founded by her great-great-grandmother Lyan Luthor.

A worthy school for all those willing to follow the rules. The air about the place in addition to the coolness of the main building built on the base of Castle Luthor was almost as nostalgic as the day she officially graduated ten years ago.

She walked with typical Luthor confidence, exuding power.

The students watched her curiously and perhaps wondered why the green-eyed woman was in the institution.

Lena exchanged 'Good morning' with the few students who dared to try to exchange words with her person.

Lena felt in her full power.

When she arrived at her mother's office she smiled at the secretary. "Good morning, will Principal Luthor be available?"

"Are you her six and a half?" asked the curious secretary adjusting her bottle glasses.

"Let's hope so." Lena smiled formally. "Lena Kieran Luthor, it's a pleasure."

"Oh! Come in Miss Luthor." The woman made an attempt to get up, but Lena stopped her.

"Don't worry, I can get in myself." She nodded goodbye and then went into the office.

Inside was her mother with Andrea Rojas, an old childhood acquaintance and now a teacher of fundamental physics for the upper grades. Both women with a cup of coffee in their hands.

"Looks like you started the meeting without me." Lena joked.

"Lena, daughter, I wasn't expecting you so early." Lillian Luthor got up to give her a hug. "I won't lie, I was very excited." Lillian spoke in a serious tone.

"I think we all are." Agreed Andrea before giving her a hug as well.

"Who knew Lillian would be retiring after so long."

"You'll miss me madly, Miss Rojas." Scoffed the older Luthor.

"Obvious, you're the first crush of many of my generation." Andrea winked.

"I remind you that she's my mother." Lena frowned feigning annoyance, she was so used to her best friend by now.

"As if it's not the dream of many these days." The older woman looked at them with feminine superiority and assurance. "Obviously, but no more than me."

"I didn't know this institution now rated how hot a teacher is." Lena stifles a laugh as she shakes her head.

"You can't even imagine what it's like now." Andrea blew air into her face feigning warmth. Lillian sipped her coffee humming in approval at the bitter taste.

"We are wasting time and I have to inform Miss Danvers about my retirement before the official meeting in the auditorium."

"Of course." The Latina concurred. "Miss Danvers?" asked Lena curiously.

Who was so important that her mother would go to such trouble?

"She is officially one of the most rigorous and intelligent minds I have ever met in my life not to say that missing her schedule is already against the Academy's student and teacher code." Andrea spoke seriously.

What kind of institution is this woman?

"It's a Swiss watch." Nodded her mother in agreement. "Straight like an arrow and fully trained."

"And yet all the students love her."

"I think it has to do with their raw truth policy." Said the former principal proudly. "Lena, as Principal of Luthor Academy I give you my advice to keep her on your side."

"This woman. What classes does she teach?" asks Lena doubtfully.

"She's been the librarian for six years, but she started teaching the senior history class three and a half years ago after Miss Grant passed away." Lillian recounted.

"Mother, how does a librarian have so much power?" Lena's voice came out incredulous.

"At this point, I recommend you not to doubt the capabilities of the woman who has influenced my students to become good men and women." Lillian spoke seriously before getting up and leaving the office.

Andrea reviewed some papers before handing her a sheet of paper.

"This is Miss Danvers' schedule, I put in highlighter the times where you can go see her so you can meet her." The Latina smiled warmly at her friend. "I know it sounds crazy, but Miss Danvers is a very peculiar person and I promise you that even though on the outside she looks like a calculating human she is a woman of good feelings." Lena took the sheet in confusion.

This was not a normal class schedule, no.

It was a sheet completely filled with perfectly timed activities. It was as if the woman even wrote down in her routine her every breath.

...

It was fifteen past seven when all the students gathered in the auditorium. Some of the teachers introduced themselves to her. Like Miss Nal, the cheerful art teacher. Mr. Dox, who despite being somewhat tense at the social interaction seemed pleasant to her, the Chemistry teacher. Mr. Schott the nervous computer teacher. Doc Olsen as student psychologist and Miss Isley who taught sports.

And those were just the outstanding teachers that were presented to her.

Lena's mother began with a full speech about her love for the institution and how her whole life revolved around raising the future of the country as her own.

In Lena's twenty-seven years she knew by heart such a speech that she would repeat year after year, one that she would have to give after her mother's retirement in the same way that Lillian repeated her own mother's in a full cycle of boring speeches.

After Lillian had finished naming the Academy's accomplishments and reporting on her impending retirement, she began to introduce the teachers.

It was something I also already knew despite the fact that these were the teachers of the new generation. It was almost a demonstration of how much the students loved their professors.

Lena smiled as Andrea received a hearty round of applause.

"For the finale, I would like to warmly introduce Miss Danvers." Lena watched as most of the young people rose to clap and whistle in ovation, the newcomers quickly rose following the rest to applaud so as not to be left behind.

At that moment, at a slow and determined pace, a blonde woman not more than twenty- three years old came in, dressed in a perfect tailored black suit, white shirt and gloves, red tie. Square glasses fitted perfectly on her face.

With her arms behind her back, she walked to the middle of the stage as the young people continued to cheer for the teacher.

She raised her arms to make a salute as if she were their conductor, but when Lena least expected it, Miss Danvers with a quick movement lowered her left arm and with her right made a fist with which all the young people were silenced. They quickly sat down again.

Miss Danvers went over to where Lillian was standing with the microphone. She moved it in her direction.

"Thank you. Noisy brats." Said the blonde teacher in a hoarse voice.

And with this spectacle the Librarian went back to the other side of the stage as if she didn't need to be with the rest of the faculty gathered there.

...

In the library, Kara was sorting the books she had to deliver to the respective teachers. In total there would be about twelve one-way trips, one for each class. They would give them to their students.

With Beethoven's Ninth Symphony playing in the background to make her task more enjoyable.

Near the end of the song Kara could make out the distinctive sound of heels clicking into place.

"Principal Luthor." Kara said in a formal voice to the Academy heiress.

"Miss Danvers." Pronounced the Principal in a nervous tone. "I've been told about you." She clasped both hands together on the book cart.

"Let's hope they're positive ratings." Kara said giving her a smirk.

"In my opinion it's beyond that."

"You look surprised." The librarian's blue eyes analyzed as she slowly let go of the tension.

"Let's just say I have counted on one hand my mother's compliments." The Luthor heiress said normally.

"But despite that, we can tell she holds her in high regard." Kara placed a stack of books on the cart.

"That looks heavy." The green-eyed woman looked at the stack of books worriedly. "Do you need help?"

"See my arms?" Kara shows the aforementioned only covered by her formal white shirt.

The brunette swallowed dryly, opening her eyes, admiring every detail of them.

"Yes." She gladly appreciated.

"Books don't just exercise my mind." Kara said with an amused smile. "Really?"

"No, Miss Luthor. I work out every night." Kara cut in as a joke just as her older sister taught her to break the tension in the conversation.

"Oh." The new Principal deflated a bit.

"If you want a routine for yourself I could recommend a couple of videos." Kara said it with all good intentions.

"No, thank you." The younger Luthor smiled at her turning her eyes back to the younger's arms. "I'll settle for watching."

Kara frowned slightly when she saw her bite her lower lip, but she made light of it.

"Miss Danvers." The older woman called. Kara looked at her waiting for instructions. "When they told me about you I thought of a powerful woman maybe in her forties who lines up students for grading or sanctioning, but..."

"I'm twenty-four years old, Miss Luthor." The blonde put the last load of books down after securing them with a strap to take the cart. She began to walk carrying the books with the dark-haired girl at her side. "People always referred to me as a girl genius when I was raised by my family in military school and went through school grades too fast, I ended up studying World History and English Literature at Cambridge." She recounted matter-of-factly. "I was so tired of traveling around doing speaking engagements to pay college bills at eighteen, that when an old college teacher told me about a staff job at Luthor Academy as a librarian it sounded excellent."

"That teacher was Miss Grant." Realized the brunette. Kara nodded softly stopping at the first door.

"She motivated me to look for a home for the first time in my life." Kara handed the books to the first teacher.

"Do you enjoy it?"

Kara smiled sweetly at her.

"More than anything. No one is looking to challenge me to see if they're smarter than me, they always ended up humiliating themselves." Kara laughs in amusement starting to wheel the cart again. "It's mostly quiet and I more than earned my place not to say I appreciate being surrounded by decent people."

"Decent." Repeated the confused Luthor.

"If you think it's hard to get compliments from your mother, it's because you didn't know me yet." Kara brought out a bit of her arrogant side. "Although I must admit, she's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen in person."

"It's good to be one of several." Joked the brunette rolling her eyes. Although the older girl took it as a joke at her words, Kara noticed perfectly how her cheeks flushed.

"On my scale, yes."

...

The first two months as the official principal of Luthor Academy was nothing but paperwork, counseling lost youth, leading teacher meetings and confiscating some forbidden objects according to the rules.

Yes, as much as she wanted to, Lena thought it best to flush the marijuana she stumbled upon in one of the rooms on the boys' side of the room rather than consume it.

Curious fact about the institution that apart from being a school it has three housing buildings, two for students and one for teachers although Lena's new temporary home was in the same academy that by crossing some doors behind her office she could access a well-furnished home where the Luthor's in charge live until the next Luthor takes the reins of the institution.

One thing that amazed Lena was how, at break time, Miss Danvers always arrived with her straight, commanding demeanor and at the same time she expressed an incredible confidence and calmness. She would play a classical musician depending on the day of the week, but the most particular thing was when it was time to bring out her lunch.

A processed cheese sandwich that was always split in half to exchange with Mr. Schott for half a peanut butter sandwich, a pear for Mr. Dox and a homemade Jell-O for Miss Nal, who thanked her with a Snickers bar that Miss Danvers saved for later.

Everyone obeyed out of habit every rule imposed by the young blonde woman and she seemed incredibly at ease with her co-workers because of it, and Lena could see why she was so comfortable in the institution.

In addition to respecting schedules and her word, Miss Danvers had a very strict rule of zero physical contact with everyone in the institution by not starting with her impeccable white emcee gloves perfectly pressed into her hands.

With that, the new Luthor Principal understood perfectly what the whole affair surrounding the attractive woman was about.

Next to her as she enjoyed a bowl of fruit for dessert after lunch was Pamela Isley, who quickly became another friend along with Andrea at the institution. From the teacher's handheld radio came a voice.

"Coach Isley, we have a '6651'." Said the teacher in charge on the other end.

Among the watchmen, guards and teachers there are codes to exchange as a quick message to take roles in the matter. As the recent one named was 'fight in the cafeteria'.

"I'm on my way." The redhead stood up.

"I'll walk with you." And Lena got up after the other woman as well.

Arriving at the scene it was just two girls holding each other's hair while babbling whatever it was that led to the fight.

..

"Ruby!" Andrea walked into her office as if it were her own home.

Lena cleared her throat and raised an eyebrow at her old friend and co-worker. Andrea stared at the brunette girl sitting next to an Asian girl.

"You seem to know the student Arias well." Lena commented matter-of-factly pretending that more important were the papers in her hands.

"Miss Rojas and my mother are going out." Replied the younger girl matter-of-factly. The other girl, Seo Hyun, laughed at the aforementioned.

"Wow, my condolences." Lena looked Ruby in the eye. The teenager shrugged her shoulders as usual.

"I'm still here." Andrea narrowed her eyes. "How could you even think of fighting in the cafeteria especially when your mother is in charge of cooking the entire menu?" the Latina spoke offended.

The two teens looked at each other and then had a quick rock-paper-scissors match that Seo Hyun ended up winning.

"Good." Ruby exhaled air, as if preparing for what was next. The younger Luthor exchanged glances with Andrea and Pamela. "Simon Edge said he has a weapon and will take advantage of it to get revenge on Miss Danvers because I punished him." She said quickly.

"Because of that punishment they had to take him off the basketball team." Said the other girl. "That's why he'll follow the schedule where she orders books after second period music."

"I'll call security." Andrea pulled out her phone. "You'll both clean the cafeteria for two weeks." She chastised instead of Lena although the Principal let it slide due to the emergency of the situation at hand.

Lena got up quickly to start walking, more running than anything else, with Pamela at her side.

"Did they get in trouble to warn of an attempt on a teacher?" the redhead asks as she runs.

"Rule number one of a student at Luthor Academy: you're officially dead if you're a snitch." Gasped the Luthor not at all used to running, let alone in heels.

"Sounds like jail." Pamela scoffed.

"You've never seen what a social death is like for breaking an unwritten rule at Luthor Academy." Lena turned to her airlessly with an uncomfortable smile.

That was practically the worst punishment of all. Where each of the students pretended that the student in question did not exist, ostracizing him or her in such a brutal way that the young person who committed the 'offense' had no choice but to leave the institution. People outside the Academy may think it was brutal, but the students respected its unwritten rules for the sake of peaceful coexistence.

The women turned a few corridors until she managed to enter through one of the two entrances to the library, the symbolic home of Miss Danvers. Lena wasn't sure how punctual the attacker would be, but was surprised as she found the younger blonde almost about to run her over for her jogging.

"It is forbidden to run by..." The principal turned a deaf ear as the figure over the other woman's shoulder, of the teenager in question, walked like he owned the place pulling the object out of a guitar case, scaring her like it was the Higlands Ranch High School shooting, she didn't think twice before draping her arms over the blonde's body to turn them around and push them safely to the ground.

Although she ended up face to face with a blonde with an annoyed expression on the floor pushing her up in order to get Lena away from her.

Lena felt the projectiles hit painfully against her body, watching Miss Danvers with a shocked face and Pamela screaming in fright before going to tackle the student who fired at Lena.

She ended up falling and being held by Miss Danvers who looked guilty for pushing her.

"It's just a paint gun." Said the redhead in relief.

Lena moaned in pain.

...

Principal Luthor lay on her bed with ice on her back, eight accurate shots that left painful marks on her pale skin. Not only was the politician's son expelled, but he now possessed legal charges that her mother and Andrea raised with great pleasure.

Third month and she already has to take a moment for the cruel mischief of a spoiled child.

Lena snorts putting on Waterparks, as much as the blonde's classic music that she literally took (paint) bullets for is enjoyable it's always nice to get back to that thing that makes her happy and that's good Punk pop done right.

If Lena's mother came into the room to check on her now she would tease that she was still listening to music from wayward teenagers and she would turn up the volume with pleasure.

She listened as the front door to her room opened and closed.

"Go ahead, you can start laughing at my pirate replica of The Bodyguard." Lena didn't bother to lift her head off the pillow knowing, or thinking she was, Andrea with the way she walked into the brunette's room like it was her own home.

"In fact, I've come to apologize." She heard the sweetest tone coming from Miss Danvers.

Lena almost got up from the shock, she was thankful she didn't since she was naked from the waist up so that the ice would make almost direct contact with her skin to treat the injured area. She turned carefully so as not to get up to see the blonde carrying a basket and a good sized white box in her hands.

"Apologize?" The brunette tries to ignore the blonde's gaze over the area her naked body as she began rocking back and forth on her heels.

"Because of me you were hurt when all your intention was good." Miss Danvers' voice was guilty.

"I broke one of your rules, I think it's obvious you wouldn't take it well." Lena laughed nervously in an effort to calm herself down.

"You're doing it right now too." Kara pronounced, leaving the basket on Lena's nightstand and the white box on the floor.

"Are you getting desperate not being able to control the music I listen to?" Now it was Lena's turn to enjoy the uptight blonde a little.

"Principal Lillian possessed..." Lena turned to lay her head back on the pillow, the ices melting.

"To be honest, after going through a huge amount of control and order I need my dose of devastation or I'd go crazy." Grunted Lena interrupting her. As much as she likes Miss Danvers to feel calm around her Lena also needed something for herself without thinking of someone else. "It's not just you that has needs sweetie." Almost purred the brunette.

"I understand, and yet he's not one of my favorites." Sighed the blonde. "I didn't come to argue with you Principal Luthor, I brought you some snacks that my sister Alexandra finds comfortable like nachos and soda, my old Game-Boy as a sign of apology with Power Rangers game cartridges and Pokémon: Red." Lena wasn't looking at her, but she could imagine the other woman's smile. "And my first aid kit is very well stocked." Miss Danvers sounded more confident.

"Tell me Lena." She accepted the peace offerings.

She rose slightly again to meet the blonde, who was rummaging passionately inside her box to pull out a tube. It was a cream or ointment.

"Would you let me put it on?"

Lena looked at her nervously, since when did they have such trust between them? "You know, you can just pay me back by buying me a coffee."

"No." Miss Danvers said confidently. "I understand you’re point Principal Luthor, but I would also like to help you with that, plus this cream is very good for numbing wounded skin." With that said the blonde began to happily list the ingredients of the cream despite the brunette's little interest in it.

"Right." Sighed Lena. "Put your magic cream on me."

"It's not magic." Miss Danvers grumpy defended. Lena laugh for your words.

She watched her as she carefully removed the ices on Lena's back, she carefully wiped Lena's skin with a dry cloth in order to avoid any trace of moisture. After that, to the young Luthor's surprise, Miss Danvers carefully removed her gloves leaving them on the nightstand.

"Miss... Danvers?" Lena's voice trembled at such paraphernalia.

A massage with an erotic ending?

"Just call me Kara." She opened the lid and placed a good amount of the ointment in her palm.

Lena was about to speak to her, but was stopped by the cold sensation on her skin and muscles. Tearing an accidental moan from her that was completely ignored by the blonde who began her task as if she was made for what she was born for. Lena decided it would be best to sink her head into the pillow as 11:11 by Waterparks played in the room.

She listened as the blonde began to hum in concentration while she continued her work of massaging the brunette's back.

"Oh shit." Groaned Lena very much at ease.

Lena wasn't sure how long it had been since she had direct contact with another woman, but the truth was that with the massage given by Kara she felt very willing to have it repeated as much as the blonde wanted.

"Don't be vulgar." Scoffed the other. "My space, my rules." Lena smile.

Kara laughed lightly as if to demonstrate that she was comfortable with the woman taking (paint) bullets for her.

"You still owe me a coffee." Lena warned.

"As you command, boss." Now Kara scoffed at her position though she closed the deal in a pleased tone. "By the way, sounds like a video game song."

Without realizing it, it was the beginning of something and whatever happened Lena really liked the sound of that even though she doesn't know what to name that something.

...

Somehow it became a habit for the two women to look for each other. Both Kara to sit next to the young Principal during meals or when the school days were over and also when Lena would go around the school to end up talking about almost anything while the blonde ordered books with Bach in the background, even if a certain older green-eyed woman would end up humming Rock or Pop Punk songs to playfully tease her.

Outings to hang out outside of the institution were also valued by both of them in many ways giving them the opportunity to get to know different sides of each other. Kara taking her to the aquarium and Lena going to thrift sales to get her new vinyl that they both liked.

They were dates without even naming them, but they both liked them.

That day was no different, perhaps part of the already comfortably established routine they were both part of. Lena drummed her fingers to the beat of Michael Jackson's Beat It even though in her mind she heard the heavier cover version of Pierce the veil.

Kara ignored her air guitar solos as she labeled the books that were delivered late. Turning around she found the brunette dancing madly and a bit uncoordinated.

'Whoever saw their Principal behaving so out of line would laugh her head off before she got a good punishment.' Was Kara's thought. She laughed silently at such a thought.

"Come on!" Lena held out her hand to invite her to her weird dance.

"No." Kara said out of inertia.

"Please." Lena elongated the E's almost childishly.

"We're at work." Kara ditched the subject.

"For your bad luck I must inform you that our schedule ended two hours ago, Honey." The affectionate nickname sounded sweet in Lena's voice.

"Besides, this is Billie Jeans we're talking about. Will you tell him no?" The brunette said when the King of Pop's voice began.

"I don't know how to dance." Kara hedged at the idea even if she was somewhat tempted by the idea just to accompany the other woman.

"Nor me." Laughed the brunette girl as if it were nothing. In a manner of complete shamelessness as long as she enjoyed the moment. "The important thing is to have fun." Principal Luthor began to take random steps 'keeping up' in her own strange way.

Pronouncing an off-key: Ehhhe!

Kara joined in, copying Lena's clumsy steps and sharing the laughter with the older girl. Lena ended up taking a turn copying Michael Jackson's steps, but ended up almost falling to the ground. The blonde caught her in laughter. She shook her head.

"How sad the lyrics are." Kara over analyzed the words of the song.

"Billie Jean is not my lover." Lena half-sang, ignoring her in her self-absorption.

Somehow both women began to move to a slower and slower beat that Kara was finally able to control with her hands on the other woman's hips.

With Human Nature in the background, it was all somehow incredibly natural and beautiful. Almost like a romantic movie.

"Can I steal something from you?" Lena fixes a stray lock of the blonde's hair as they continued to dance.

"You're rich you don't need to steal anything." Kara replies in a mocking tone. "But if it's from me you can borrow it." She shrugs and accepts the other woman's closeness.

The song was still playing as softly as it began.

Lena rolls her eyes in amusement as if in her mind she is thinking of a personal joke.

"Can I borrow a kiss?" Lena looks at her almost begging for it.

For taking the next step and closing the deal perhaps in a definitive way. It was strange for the brunette to feel so comfortable with another person and she prayed that her constantly evolving feelings were somehow reciprocated by the beautiful blonde in front of her.

"Well." Kara said more curious than sure in giving her the answer.

Lena finishes closing the distance that separated them to join their lips in a sweet and short kiss, she was ready to withdraw due to the blonde's lack of action for the intimate act when Kara approached her again to have another kiss a little longer than the previous one, but no less innocent and chaste.

They both looked into each other's eyes smiling with a certain fondness discovering how, without the use of words, they were simply there for each other. Just loving each other in the purest way that exists in the world.

...

Lena walked through the halls hoping she wouldn't run into any students sneaking out during class hours or getting into any mischief that would lead to more paperwork. She stood still when the senior boys' door opened finding a very serious Kara Danvers crossing her arms.

Lena approached a little confused.

"Is something wrong, Miss Danvers?" she uttered earnestly and professionally as always in front of the students.

The blonde grabbed the green-eyed girl's chin to kiss her slowly and sweetly despite the sounds of surprise and support from the students inside the classroom.

Kara smiled at her full of the other woman's red velvet lipstick after breaking the kiss leaving her a nervous wreck with wide-eyed surprise at the act during work hours.

"You were supposed to give it back to me, but you forgot." Kara said in reference to her 'Kiss Lending' session.

The young Principal couldn't help but break out of her tough, serious, moody Principal persona to laugh fondly at her now-girlfriend's witticisms.

"Shit, I think I love you." Lena said shaking her head softly.

"You have to put a dollar in the jar." Kara told her seriously. "I love you too, Principal Luthor."

The students made the typical noise of "Awwws. " as she walked away from the room, Lena was sure that the blonde had confined herself to being peppered with questions from the teens who witnessed her action.

'It was her problem.' Thought Lena walking calmly to her office.

She continued on her way with a huge grin from ear to ear that no one could take away, well she thought so until after several hours between class exchanges the gossip of the kiss reached Andrea's ears.
