Summary
For the last two years, 17-year old Adya Monroe-Ahuja has kept a secret: she is secretly the Ghost, a violent vigilante operating in the metropolis of Brimstone, who patrols the streets every night leaving a trail of broken and battered bodies in her wake. The police deny her existence at every possible opportunity, but the public knows better. Some fear her, others hate her, others praise her. After getting her start fighting petty thieves and domestic abusers Adya has started branching out into combatting corrupt officials, gang warfare, human trafficking and arms dealing. But this lifestyle has a toll, and Adya will pay for it in body, heart, mind and soul.
This is "Whiplash," a dark, character-driven short story collection about trying to stay sane and humane in an insane and inhumane world. This is a story about the base violence necessary for change, the transformative and addictive nature of violence, and the seemingly impossible task of changing the world without losing yourself.
