The Alexandria Incident

Summary:

“Cleo…” Gudako whispered as she noticed the queen moving toward the woman with tears in her eyes. Part tears of sadness and anger.

Gudako went to stop her, but its rider eventually pulled her back. Still, they could hear the princess muttering under her breath.

“I didn’t want this to happen,” the princess muttered, “I didn’t-”

“There’s a servant near,” Rider muttered, “we don’t know if they’re hostile or not.”

“But-” the queen hissed, “that’s my little sister, and she’ll tell me what happened. She has to… Arsinoe!”

Chapter Text

This was the second time humanity's final master found herself in a vast desert. The only things missing were a sandstorm and Nito.

But at least she wasn’t alone. Two servants were slowly making their way towards their feet.  She knew that Medusa was coming with her, so she wasn’t surprised to see that tall purple-haired woman. The other woman who was slowly standing made Gudako pause.

“Cleopatra?” Gudako even rubbed her eyes to ensure she was seeing this right. She couldn’t believe that she had managed to come here with them… unless this was the actually living Cleopatra living her life in exile.

“Yes, master, it’s me…” she replied, looking around, wondering why she was here, “this place… master, why am I here?”

The redhead shook her head honestly. She didn’t know either. All she knew was that this was based on a time when Egypt's last pharaoh was still alive and would be making preparations for the arrival of Julius Ceasar.

This couldn’t be good. Who knows what would change if Cleopatra met her servant counterpart? It would not be good if they made an enemy of one of the most powerful women in history.

“Rider?” the queen turned to their other companion, “you don’t have anything I can use to cover up. As much as I would hate to conceal myself… I’ve done it before to trick my brothers and those vipers who got me exiled in the first place. So it might be a good idea to do it again. Or does master have anything I can use?”

Gudako had a veil to protect her from the sun and sand she got from Nitocris.

“This isn’t like the Camelot singularity,” The jackal ear queen had told her, “It will be closer to the climate Egypt had. Better to be safe than sorry.”

They were a lot closer to the city of Alexandria. She may not need it.

Gudako removed the veil on her head and gave it to the queen, “Will this do?”

“Yes,” the queen replied, “thank you.”

“Oh, it’s just like how I remembered it,” Cleopatra said with excitement, “it’s nice to be able to walk around my home and be around my people again.”

“Maybe we shouldn’t make a huge scene, though,” Medusa said, “People are starting to stare.”

Yeah, not a good idea for a servant to make a huge scene in front of ordinary people. Even people from their past like this. Which Gudako knew why Cleopatra was happy. This was a time when she had ruled- even though she was temporarily exiled. A time when she had the love of her people.

Still, there was something off about this place, and she could feel it in the air.

The bad feeling she had earlier with Cleopatra's presence was getting worse and worse the deeper they moved through the city and the crowd. It almost felt like they were being watched, but there were too many people around to ensure.

Not to mention that it looked like the people around her mourning for someone. While the streets were packed, there was this somberness was in the air, and it was like…

… someone died…

“Oh, my,” Gudako muttered under her breath, noticing people dragging what looked like to be an open casket. It glittered in the sunlight, and even at a distance, she could see who it was.

Impossible!

“It can’t be…” Cleopatra muttered, looking like she was about ready to run up to a random citizen and demand to know what happened. Why was she lying dead inside? She shouldn’t be dead at this time. So, why?

“Poor princess… losing most of her family to the Romans,” a woman muttered to another. Gudako watched as they pointed to a woman who was on her knees, weeping at the casket.

“I’m not sorry for her. The princess is almost as hungry for power as the rest of them. I swear she’s the embodiment of the god set and will bring ruin to the kingdom.”

Medusa covered the queen's mouth and tried to pull her away as the weeping woman looked up. A woman with similar features to Cleopatra herself, only her eyes, while full of sorrow, were a golden color.

Medusa was dragging her master away, too, just as a tall red-haired man appeared beside the woman and offered her his hand.

A man who didn’t appear like he belonged here.  Was he the servant that Rider could sense? Gudako tried to tilt her head to get a better look at the man, but he and the princess both vanished into the crowd.
