Kaneki yawns and opens his eyes. He tried to move, but he was stopped by the arms wrapped around his waist. He turned his head to see Hide peacefully sleeping behind him. Kaneki smiles softly and gently removes himself from Hide's embrace.
Kaneki sleepily drags himself to the kitchen. He grabs the 'I'm a Ghoul Lover' mug that Hide insisted he bought, even though Hide is the ghoul lover, not Kaneki. He starts the coffee machine and starts grabbing the various breakfast items Hide stocked the fridge with last week.
Kaneki is in the middle of frying the eggs when he feels two arms wrap around his waist and a warm body pushed against his back.
"Good morning, Hide." Kaneki says with a small smile on his face.
Hide grumbles and buries his face into Kaneki's neck, "Morning, 'Neki."
"Did you sleep well?" Kaneki asks, quickly putting the eggs on the plates before they start to burn.
Hide nods, "I slept well since you were there."
"It's too early in the morning for you to be cheesy." Kaneki says, pouring coffee into his mug.
Hide rests his head on Kaneki's shoulder, "Why won't you let me be loving with you."
Kaneki sighs and turns around in Hide's arms, resting his hands on Hide's shoulders.
"Fine, be loving."
Hide smiles and starts to pepper Kaneki's face with small, soft kisses. Kaneki smiles and giggles, wrapping his arms around Hide's neck.
"Hide!" Kaneki says between laughs.
"Yes?" Hide smiles.
Kaneki lets out a content sigh and pecks Hide's nose, "I love you."
Hide's smile grows and he presses a soft kiss to Kaneki's lips, "I love you too."
Kaneki hides his face on Hide's shoulder.
"Are you still getting shy every time I say that? We've been dating for a year, Ken." Hide smiles softly and runs his fingers through Kaneki's hair.
Kaneki mumbles into Hide's shoulder, "Shut up."
Hide simply keeps smiling and running his fingers through Kaneki's hair.
"Babe, your coffee is gonna get cold if you don't drink it." Hide says, pouring the coffee into Kaneki's mug.
"Fine, fine." Kaneki pulls away and takes his mug out of Hide's hands.
As soon as Kaneki tastes the coffee, he absolutely melts. Coffee has always been Kaneki's favorite thing, other than Hide of course, he wouldn't admit that though.
"Is it good?" Kaneki nods, looking up at Hide with a small smile.
Hide smiles back and ruffles Kaneki's hair.
"Hide!"
"Can I try some?" Hide asks, completely ignoring Kaneki's irritated look.
"I thought you didn't like coffee." Kaneki says, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't, but I still want to try it!" Hide slightly whines.
Kaneki sighs and holds the mug up to Hide. Hide takes the mug from Kaneki's hands and takes a small sip of the coffee. Hide makes a face that screams 'ew, why is this so bitter'.
"Disgusting." Hide hands the mug back to Kaneki.
"We've gone over this, Hide. You don't have to like coffee just because I like it." Kaneki sighs in disappointment.
"Fine…" Hide says.
Kaneki smiles and pecks Hide's cheek, "You just being able to make me the right coffee is enough for me."
Hide immediately smiles.
"What would you like to do today?" Hide asks.
Kaneki thinks and then shrugs.
"How about we have a lazy day, we can cuddle on the couch and watch tv all day." Hide says, his face brightening at just the thought of it.
Kaneki smiles, "I suppose we could."
Hide excitedly pulls Kaneki over to the couch and puts on a movie they've seen a thousand times. Kaneki couldn't be happier at this moment, it was just him, Hide, and his coffee. Kaneki smiles and leans his head on Hide's shoulder, Hide wrapping an arm around Kaneki's waist.
"Today is going to be a great day." Hide nods in agreement.
