Work Text:
Siren's had his eye on a certain Vigilante for a good 2 years. It's incredible self-control on his end for not snatching him, also the fact he's actually had to wait. Bes is slippery at the best of times and ready to break someone's limb at the worst. Siren's been meeting up with him ever since he figured out Bes's route. The Vigilante patrols district 7 like he's been sworn, he rarely misses a night. It's all been about gaining Bes trust. The Villain brings him his favorite shitty cup noodles (that he eats uncooked the crazy fucker), he talks about himself enough to where Bes tells him about his own life.
He won't tell him his age, real name, or power but that's to be expected. Siren also learns Bes is actually deaf, he's got a little hearing that he enhances with custom-made buds from a friend but otherwise he says he uses his power to know things. Now Siren's been meeting him for over a year, and he's ready. He can't use his power on Bes, the fucker just turns his head away after turning off his buds. It's irritating but it means Siren will be able to gain trust that's not as easily breakable as charmed trust. Siren allows it and now years later, he's ready.
He takes to the rooftops this night even if he would rather the alleys. Bes has patrolled the same area for the last 3 years and he's extremely recognizable. Finally rounding an apartment building he spots him. The two shops on either side of the complex are much shorter than the 8 stories. Thankfully there's a fire escape even if by the time he's on top he's huffing and puffing. Considering he needs air for his power (and it'd be embarrassing to be caught like this after a few flights of stairs) he sits for a moment to catch his breath.
The ever looming but slouched figure of Bes squatting just by the edge. When Siren's no longer gasping he steps loudly with long strides to the Vigilante. He doesn't even look back at him even if there's a small flinch. A flinch that could send him over the side of the building but he doesn't seem worried. His suit is almost entirely black with only bits of red and purple accenting it. A full-face black mask only cut out around deep red lips, purple swirls over the eye holes, and cheeks.
"Hello, Siren." Bes's voice glitches strangely as always, it's a comfort now instead of the way it used to put him on edge. "Bes, what are you doing up here?" He asks, sitting down on the short wall. "Patrol waits for no man no matter how big." Siren snorts as he shakes his head. "Patrol is hardly needed anymore, you've wiped half of the crime off the board this year." Bes shakes his head. "Not enough, you have any noodles?" Siren looks over at him. Bes's startling blue eyes bore into his own honey brown ones.
"Bes I have to ask you a question." The Vigilante kicks his legs out in front of him to fall on his butt, now sitting down. His knees crack dryly as he hunches over even more. "You been causing some trouble?" Siren huffs as he slides over and rests his head on Bes's shoulder. He tenses slightly before relaxing into it. "You know I'm not a regular Villain. I'm part of the Syndicate." Bes looks down at fluffy brown curls, at flushed pink cheeks against pale skin.
A Villain he considers a brother, Siren would respect if he said no. Bes has done worse than Siren could ever dream, his responsibilities could be looked after remotely or taken with. He slips his arm around the Villain's shoulders. "I have a job, people waiting at home for me, my patrol, I can't just drop it all and move to district 4." Siren rubs his head under Bes's chin.
"What people?" He finally asks after a few minutes of silence. "People I can't leave alone, I'd need time to convince them to come with me somewhere, I'd need time to gather them up." Bes tells him, blood-red lips press to the crown of Siren's head. "We have time don't we?" The brunette murmurs. Bes sighs, Siren kicks at his leg when he doesn't answer.
The Vigilante tightens his grip on him as he shuffles a bit too close to the edge for the movement. "Siren, I need real answers here, and I'll give you real answers in return. You're mine and I'm yours." Siren furrows his brows at the words. "Yeah, we're brothers right?" It's a serious moment, they don't talk like this, they don't admit the attachment they have. It's off script and makes Siren unsteady. "Right, we're brothers. I'll tell you my name, but I need yours alright?" He tenses at the words like he's just as nervous as the Villain in his arms. "Okay, I'm Wilbur." He whispers, he worries a moment that Bes won't hear him but that familiar choppy laugh fills the air a few seconds after.
Siren smacks at his chest, it won't do anything to the Vigilante he already knows. "Sorry sorry, just didn't think you'd have an old man name." Siren, Wilbur, shuffles away from him with a huff as he crosses his arms. "It's not an old man name, it's dignified!" He declares as Bes goes right back to laughing. It's not a rare sound by any means but Wilbur still watches him like it's the first time he's ever heard it. Eventually he's done and Wilbur's pressed right up to him again. "Alright, Wilbur." He says it like he was made to, no biting it out or slurring.
"My name is complicated, my parents called me Thomas. Never call me Thomas, those bastards ruined a fine name."
Despite curiosity Wilbur only nods. "My new family, they say Tommy. I'm Tommy Innet." Wilbur clutches at Tommy's black jacket. His blue eye mask does nothing to hide his expression. "Tommy, such a young name." He teases, his voice is only a little shaky. The Vigilante huffs and flicks Wilbur's head. He knocks his shoulder harder against his brother who doesn't even bunch. Bes has always reminded Wilbur of Techno a little, an immovable object and unstoppable force. They embody these phrases in a balance.
"Si- Wilbur. I'll meet you here in two days at this time, if I'm with others I'll go with you. If I'm not, we'll figure it out." Tommy says, Wilbur looks over at him. They're both masked still, Wilbur doesn't know how to feel about that. "Okay." He murmurs. Tommy brushes the Villain's curls to the side and kisses his forehead lightly before standing. His posture makes Siren worry for his back. The Vigilante's feet teeter on the edge a second before he's plummeting to the concrete below. By the time Siren looks over he's nowhere to be seen, not unexpected, Tommy has impeccable balance he wouldn't have fallen without reason. He waits for a couple minutes before leaving, he has news to bring his family.
-------
"Just agreeing?! Have you gone mad Tommy?!" Tommy himself bites his tongue, Tubbo can yell all he wants but he's had time to prepare. It's not like he couldn't hear Siren and Tommy while they talked. He'd also come home talking about the Villain, they knew this was coming. Ranboo folds himself up under Tommy's chin, the Vigilante is pushed to his full height doing this.
Tubbo doesn't cower though, Tommy narrows his eyes. Maybe he's been too soft? Let Tubbo think he was wiser than Tommy, an entity more than man. He's mostly out of human form right now, his blackened clawed hands and feet, horns pushing up from fluffed blond locks. Leather wings are still kept away though, as is a thick-scaled tail.
"-not even thinking! I mean really, living with them?!" Tubbo inhales a huge breath, chokes on it, and coughs roughly. Finally he looks up, eyes wide. It happens occasionally, Tommy's anger naturally causing misfortunes. "Are you done?" The blonde asks; his voice glitches on the o's. Instantly Tubbo's shoulders droop and he sags into Ranboo's waiting arms.
Tommy wraps long ink riddled arms around them both in a protective hug. "I know Tommy, sorry. I'm just worried." Tubbo finally whispers. Ranboo runs a hand comfortingly up the brunette's back. "I'll take care of it all, you won't be involved in any villainy. I'll still go on patrol and you two will go to university. I'll even see about finding you an internship Tubso, we just need time."
The two are decades younger he must remember, emotions are hard to deal with so young. He needs to keep calm and show them how, he's got this. (It's more a reassurance to himself, but it doesn't matter because he's a big man and he can handle this.)
"Tommy, I'm hungry." Tubbo finally says after a few minutes of silence. The Vigilante's choppy laugh fills the apartment kitchen. Ranboo and Tubbo grin at each other in their friend's hold. "Okay okay, go finish your project Tubbo, Ranboo I know you have that essay due." The two slump dramatically for him to hold them up.
They finish the night up with couch cuddles and frozen waffles, Tubbo doesn't turn his project in on time.
------
"Tommy!" He's greeted immediately as he walks into the backdoor to the hotel. Niki grins brightly and gives his slouched form a side hug. He smiles back, it's a little wider than it should be on his tired face. "Hey Niki," He gives the backroom a glance over. "Where's Jack? Or is Mike still here?" Mike is the night shift desk clerk. They need more during the day which is why Niki and Jack are supposed to be here at 8am with him.
"He's helping Mike get out of a rubbish bin." She gave a tired sigh with the words like the universe was against her as soon as she woke up. "Rough night?" He asks, he's not wearing the hat with his name tag that he would be scolded for if anyone in this building was higher ranked than him. "You have no idea." She seems to pause at her own words as she's half opened the door.
She nervously laughs, it's a tad too shrill. He raises an eyebrow but doesn't ask. "-Two, Three!" A groan. Standing in a bin is a certain brunette, a certain bald man is attempting to pull him out and failing extremely. Tommy stands there definitely blinking stupidly as he watches the events unfold. "I don't know what I expected, yeah he's completely stuck." Jack mutters to himself, Niki must have found the brunette then. Jack turns and sees the two of them standing there, he jumps about a foot in the air.
"Prime sake don't sneak up on a man like that." Tommy huffs an amused breath. "Of course, big man, didn't mean to startle you. What's happening here?" Mike dips his head to look at the floor, clearly he's embarrassed. "Dumbass thought it would be funny to stand in the bin, dumbass is now stuck in the bin." Jack explains as simply as possible. Tommy looks past him to Mike with a sigh. "Alright let me try." He steps over and wraps an arm around Mike's middle. "Woah woah there!" He squeaks, Tommy, with his hand halfway between the bin and the others thigh, pauses.
"What?" He asks, the brunette flushes. "Oh uh, nevermind." He mumbles. The blonde grips onto the hard plastic and tightens his hold on the other. "Hold on now." He tells him and feels Mike squeeze his shoulders. He pushes the bin down and yanks back his torso, it thankfully pulls Mike with. He sets the man down carefully and glares at the bin a moment. "Mike." He snaps his head up from his shoes. "Y-yeah?" He clears his throat. "Yeah, Tommy?" The blonde shakes his head. "Get home, you need to sleep." The brunette nods distractedly. "Uhm yes, yes I will- I'll go do that." Mike fumbles grabbing his things off the desk and retreats into the backroom.
Niki and Jack share a look, poor bastard.
-----
The hotel's lit up with its poor eye-sore fluorescent lights. A door opens and in walks a man in jeans. He's acting a little shifty and a scowl paints his face. "Niki, can you deal with the customer?" Tommy asks, his head buried in paperwork the night manager left him. "Yep!" She pops the P as she walks over to the computer sitting on the counter. "Hello, Sir what ca-" She's roughly cut off as the man pulls his hat down further and opens the side of his jacket. There lays a shiny pistol and she takes a step back. "Jack, Tommy, I don't think this customer is a good work for me." She mutters.
Tommy glances over at her nervous face, Jack already stepping up next to her. "What's the problem?" He asks in a friendly tone. The man flashes his gun again. "Give me all the money you have, call the heroes and I shoot." He threatens, and Tommy jolts. The man, now a robber, looks over at him like he's seeing him for the first time. A hint of panic overcomes his expression before he fixes it. "Tommy, we got a problem." Jack says, his tone deceptively calm for the situation.
Tommy slides out of his seat and over to the unfortunate trio. He looms just behind the two, they both step back against his chest. The robber, with his jacket still lifted, has that peek of horror on his face again. Tommy sniffles the air, it's noticeable as it immediately relaxes him into slouching even more.
"You're guns not even loaded fuck nut, get out of my hotel idiot." The robber, again a man, scrambles away to the door. Niki and Jack's shoulders sag, all three hunched before the duo fix their posture. "Thanks Tommy, dealing with wankers like that is what gives me gray hair." Tommy snorts at the literal bald man's words but doesn't comment.
"Just a loon anyway, didn't even pull the gun out."
And if the gun had a bullet needing just a jostle to shoot, well that could stay with him and him only.
-------
Wilbur will admit he's nervous. His brother might be coming home with him today, or someone could be chosen over him. That's what it is right? Tommy choosing the people he takes care of over him. Wilbur could take care of Tommy though, he has money, power, and would walk to the end of the world for him. The thought of Tommy not returning that? Wilbur doesn't know what he'll do.
Tommy keeps his cards close to his chest obviously. No age, face, power, na- well he has a name now. It's arguably a very important name, and Wilbur will argue it. It's the name of his brother, a strong Vigilante who just likes helping people. Wilbur has theories about his power obviously, from strength to tracking there's so many options. He's seen Tommy do so many things, from scaling buildings in 10 seconds to breaking a different Villain's leg just from his grip. Of course not Wilbur's leg, Tommy always was against hurting Wilbur at most costs.
He's only been attacked once and he can maybe admit he deserved it. Maybe trying to charm the Vigilante into a lake was a dirty move, however the receiving headbutt he got was rather rude. I mean he might have permanently damaged Wilbur's frontal lobe if he hadn't been out of it trying to fight off the suggestion! It's in the past now, he and Tommy have moved past it. (Wilbur might also suspect the forehead kisses the Vigilante always gifts him are apologies but shh.)
Now he sits inside a bar a few buildings down, it's just another business to others. Wilbur knows though, Puffy runs this place, it's a fighting ring that only in the know can get in on. Maybe Tommy would like it, does Tommy actually like fighting? He knows the Vigilante likes boxing, he could ask tonight but there are more important matters at the moment.
It's 1am, Tommy said to meet him at 2am but if Wilbur sits here a moment more his leg might fall off with the way he's bouncing it. So he walks down. He could stand to be a little early, yeah?
--------
Tommy is in a bit of a predicament. He's drowning in duffle bags, he doesn't even know where Tubbo and Ranboo got them all. His chest is criss-cross layered in the straps, he's forced to his full height standing in the living room with a blank look on his face. "Oh! And this I just can't leave this!" Tommy sags, sinking to the floor awkwardly with the bags around him. "-very nice Tubbo, Tommy?"
A concerned Ranboo is staring down at him, brows furrowed. "You do know we're not entirely leaving this place, yes?" He finally says when Tubbo joins Ranboo in his poking and prodding. The two pause and share a look. "Oh yeah." They say, creepily in unison. He's freed of his fabric prison quickly as the two only bag the essentials. He's still holding three duffle bags but they're so much lighter he hardly notices.
Finally ready they start out, Tommy's not wearing his usual getup with only his mask tucked away to be put on later. Tubbo and Ranboo have similar masks to hide when they come out Vigilante-ing with him stored away. The apartment building is only a few blocks away from their own flat. Tubbo and Ranboo follow closely, two hands of different sizes are fisted in the back of his shirt.
His unnaturally bright blue eyes grant him vision in the dark of night, lamp polls are few and far in between in district 7. He smells him before he sees him as he's busy making sure Tubbo doesn't get too distracted by a passing electronic store. Siren is sitting just by the edge, a replica of the other night. It's crawling closer to 2am, he pauses making the duo slam into him. "Put your mask on." He tells them already shoving the colored discs into waiting hands. "Why are we doing this? I thought you trusted him?" Tubbo grumbles.
Tommy sighs, red lips twist as his shoulders hunch. "I do, but being seen with Siren as Bes is better than being seen with him as Tommy. Lethe, Jamp, it's important you remember." He huffs at them hurriedly. Ranboo pats at his arm softly. "We get it, come on, let's go meet him." Tubbo snuggles up under the blonde's arm, Ranboo copies after a moment. With Tommy's hunch he and Ranboo's head are aligned. They get to the fire escape stairs when Tubbo complains of walking the nine stories.
In a surprisingly fluid motion Tubbo hangs off the front of him. Ranboo clambers on, his legs lock onto the shorters. Tommy's hands and feet morph into blackened claws. Past experience shows these will hold the weight and he starts climbing. Reaching the top he grunts as he lands on the roof. His friends shimmy off him. Siren turns around at the sound, his eyes flick over Tubbo and Ranboo suspiciously. He doesn't comment on the lack of Vigilante outfit.
"Hello, Bes." He says the name in a teasing tone that makes Tommy want to flick him. "Siren, fancy seeing you here." He calls back. The Villain strolls over with a smirk that's quickly replaced by a crooked smile. "Hey Tommy," He murmurs quietly. "Are these the ones you were talking about?" He gestures to the nervous duo. "This is Lethe, and this is Jamp." He leans in close to the brunette. "You don't think we should do this in a more private place?" He prompts. Siren nods and claps his hands quietly. "Yeah let's go, I'll show you the way." He leads them to the back of the roof that goes to a slightly smaller building. The alley below is a bit larger than he'd like his friends jumping themselves.
"Get on, I want you to keep up." Tubbo grunts irritability. "I can roof jump you know." He says but jumps onto Tommy's front in a tight hug. "Wait, does Siren know about?.." Ranboo trails off. The Villain definitely raises an eyebrow at his words. "He's going to know anyway." Tommy replies back. Siren shoots him a look, the Vigilante only gestures to the other roof. The brunette totally pouts but jumps across the space. Ranboo snakes his arms around his friends shoulders.
Clawed limbs return, Tubbo had barely noticed they'd gone. Siren has a look on his face like he'd been sucker punched for a few seconds as Tommy jumps across. It's honestly fun, Tommy had been roof hopping with Siren before but the feeling of air rushing past his face is something he's never gotten tired of.
They don't go to district 4 where the headquarters is, they only pass into 6. It's riddled with crime, every alley has a drug deal, mugging, or murder happening. Siren doesn't seem bothered in the least, this is outside where Bes patrols. (He gets a small smug smile when it takes a few minutes away from 7 before he even comes across a mugging. They think he'll leave 7 for them?)
Eventually they stop, Siren's out of breath and his legs undoubtedly are starting to ache from slamming into concrete. Tubbo has somehow managed to fall asleep, Ranboo's very alert as he tenses everytime a yell rings out. Tommy presses careful claws onto Tubbo, pressing them chest to chest. He'd rather not drop such precious cargo. "Over here." Siren calls out on a tall building. Tommy jumps up to meet him while the brunette kicks open the roof door.
Ranboo climbs off his back and takes to shaking out his limbs immediately with a grimace. Siren and Bes let out twin snorts at the sight. Ink fades as two human feet and hands come back. Tommy braces Tubbo against his hip, the brunette flush against him. He lets out a loud snore from behind his green swirled mask. Ranboo giggles at the noise from his gray swirled mask, it was Tubbo's idea to make them matching alright?
"Come on, they're waiting for us." Siren grins. Ranboo stands just behind Tommy, a hand clutching the blonde's shirt. The Vigilante trusts his Villain brother; that doesn't stop him from watching every corner and door like someone will pop out in a jump scare. They come up to an ordinary door that Siren slides a key into. It pops open and he gestures them inside. Tommy swiftly notices it opens right into a living room where two men are standing together. He pauses as he sniffs the air, they all watch as he blinks and keeps sniffing as he walks over to them.
Neither move as he gets closer, standing so still they're like statues. The Angel of Death and the Blade are there maskless, he smells them off Wilbur all the time. "Uh, hey mate, why are you snelling us?" He snaps back into focus, his face is almost right in front of Angel's. He steps back and clears his throat. "I smell you off Siren constantly, you're the Angel." He grunts.
The blond man leans back a little, eyebrows raised, and hands clammy. Something is off about the Vigilante, it makes the hair on his arms stick up.
A hand pulls Tommy back, Wilbur leans up to him. "Calm down, you're making him nervous." Bes raises an unseen eyebrow but slouches forward with a huff. Blade pokes at his arm, the Vigilante swats lightly at the offending limb. "Stop that, he's not a spectacle." Wilbur chuckles. Tubbo makes a groaning noise, everyone falls silent. Tommy shushes him, Ranboo reaches over and runs a caring hand through brown locks.
"Wilbur. I need to get them to bed." The Villain nods hurriedly. "Of course, of course, we'll talk in the morning yeah?" Bes nods, his neck cracking uncomfortably loud. He leads them to a new door. Inside is two beds, two dressers, and a T.V against the one wall. Floor length windows are gently revealed by sheer curtains. Tommy places Tubbo down on a bed, tucking him in softly. Ranboo stands by their sleeping friend as the Vigilante returns to the door.
He takes Wilbur's face into large palms and kisses his forehead. "Go get rest Wilbur, tomorrow is a tiring one." Like Tommy is the siren and Wilbur is not, he nods and walks away, presumably to his own room. The blond locks the door and turns back. "Ranboo get in bed, I'll watch tonight." Soothed by his friend's words, Ranboo curls up next to Tubbo. Tommy drapes the blanket from the other bed onto them.
He sits tonight. He watches the windows and door closely from his place perched on the headboard. His claws scratch the wood up and he growls when footsteps get to close to their new room.
It's a calm night, and he sits.
