Work Text:
It was a regular day at the Kageyama household. Mr and Mrs Kageyama were watching a movie downstairs while Mob was upstairs in his room, probably attempting to study. Ritsu was in his room doing homework as usual, but today he had a guest who annoyed him, but also didn't.
At first it had been hard to work with Shou blabbering about whatever came to mind but Ritsu eventually was able to tune it out as background noise. Shou stopped talking which made him happy but he knew that he was just preparing another conversation.
"Hey Ritsu. Who did the elephant call when he broke his toe." Of course. He just had to break the ice with a joke.
"I don't know. Who?"
"The toe truck."
Ritsu stared at him with a questioning look.
"You know, tow truck and toe truck." Shou pointed at his foot when saying the last two words.
"I get the joke but why would a tow truck tow the Elephant. It doesn't make sense."
"For the toe. It will tow the Elephant to get fixed. Like cars get towed to get fixed."
"But logically, they would call a vet. Therefore the joke is not logical." Shou didn't know this would be such a sensitive topic for him.
"But, the Elephant made the call." Ritsu didn't get what Shou's point was.
"So the elephant would call a Doctor, Aka, the vet."
"But then there wouldn't be a joke! Yes, some jokes can be logical but most of them aren't. If all jokes were logical it wouldn't be as funny or fun!" Ritsu could see his side of the story. But he refused to back down.
"Not exactly true. For example: why did the chicken cross the road? To go to the ugly witches house. Knock knock. Who's there? The chicken. That scenario makes sense because the catch is that you're the chicken." He provided more examples but Shou wasn't listening.
"Yes but as I said, most jokes aren't logical. The chicken joke, although logical, isn't as funny."
"But the toe truck isn't funny or logical!" Ritsu said as soon as Shou finished his sentence.
"But I can at least guarantee that most people would at least smile to the toe truck than the chicken."
The pair continued bickering for another five minutes.

"Dude, I have been saying for the past FIVE MINUTES that jokes aren't always LOGICAL! It can have weird imaginations to them! But of course you don't understand that because 1, you're boring. 2, you have literally no imagination and 3, you're too serious. But don't worry because I will help you get your imagination back!" Shou gave him a toothy grin. Ritsu noticed he was trying steer the conversation to avoid getting hurt.
"What are you talking about? My imagination is just fine." That was an obvious lie.
"Fine. Then tell me a story from the top of your head."
"No." Ritsu then proceeded to shove and lock Shou out of his room.
