They Can't be my Parents

Summary:

Falling from the Sky is bad, falling almost thirty years into the past is even worse. Watching your parents flounder around each other is possibly the weirdest thing., but weird is a normal day for a Straw Hat Pirate

Chapter 1: From the Sky, the Dragon Ryuji

Chapter Text

“Why doesn’t the captain bathe with the women?” Robin asked as Luffy was hauled off by Zoro to bathe.

“Yeah, she never has, I tried to get her to take one with me,” Nami sighed. “But she mentioned that bathing with girls is weird.”

“It is weird!” Luffy giggled. “Zoro, put me down!”

“No, because Even I think you need a bath,” Zoro frowned. “You’ve still got dried blood on you from fighting Crocodile!”

“Luffy, that was two weeks ago!” Nami groaned. “Oh, the poor boys!”

“They don’t mind!” Luffy giggled again.

“Don’t Mind?!” Usopp fussed. “Sanji was complaining your stink is seeping into his suits!”

   “Nah-uh!” Luffy shouted back!

   “Yah-huh!” Usopp yelled back.

“Well, they seem happy,” Robin laughed. “But Luffy, I think the boys are right. Wouldn’t you feel better after a bath?”

Luffy turned her big black eyes on Robin, who was smiling at her sweetly, before shaking her head. The kitchen door caught everyone’s attention as it opened . Sanji stepped out carrying a tray with tea on it, side stepping the stretched-out arms of his captain.

“Nami-swan, Robin-chan, I have tea for you!” He sang as he side-stepped Luffy’s hands again. “Oi, none for the unbathed!”

“But Sanji!” Luffy whined. “Why do Nami and Robin get something sweet?!”

“Because they don’t smell like rancid milk and you don’t sweets!” Sanji told her. “Go bathe, pest!”

“Sanji is mean!” Luffy whined as Zoro dragged her away. “I want a snack!”

Sanji walked over to the table set up for the girl’s tea, placing his items down as he sighed over the sounds of Zoro and Luffy screaming at each other. It was always a fight to get them to bathe, though it was getting to the point that Chopper and Luffy would have to switch, but his poor Nami and Robin didn’t deserve to deal with Luffy’s boorish behavior in the bath.

“There, I’m clean!” Luffy yelled running out bathroom in her shorts and bra. “Stop trying to scrub me!”

“Oi, Shitty Cook, Usopp! I lost!” Zoro called from the bath. “She scrubbed and got out!”

“Sanji, snack!” Luffy yelled running up to the three of them.

“DAMN IT LUFFY, PUT YOUR VEST ON!” Zoro yelled as he walked out of the bath, rubbing his hair. “You already gave Usopp a heart attack! No one wants to see your tits!”

“But Sanji’s face is all red!” Luffy yelled giggling.

“Luffy, put your vest on before Mister Cook combusts,” Robin laughed. “I don’t think his brain can handle this much longer.”

“Luffy, stop being and idiot!” Nami yelled.

“You run around in your bikini tops all the time!” Luffy whined. “Why can’t I run around in my bra?”

Before Nami could even begin to yell at her for being wrong, Nami frowned as Sanji dropped his suit jacket on top of Luffy’s head. Luffy frowned as she shimmied into blazer. She frowned harder as Sanji walked back to the kitchen. It wasn’t very fair that Nami could wander around in her bikini tops and short skirts but the second Luffy tried, Sanji turned red, dropped his jacket on her, or shirt, or blanket and left.

“Why, why doesn’t Sanji treat me like you and Robin, Nami?” Luffy frowned. “Nevermind, I’m being silly! I’m going to go play!”

“Put your shirt on!” Zoro yelled as he walked up to Nami and Robin’s table. “So how long until either of them figure out that they like each other?”

“I don’t think Mister Cook is ready to understand his feelings yet but our dear captain does understand how she feels,” Robin smiled. “I’m guessing she’s known since they met.”

“Yeah, though the witch doesn’t think so,” Zoro frowned.

“He treats her like she’s you or Usopp,” Nami frowned. “He’s always treated her like a kid sister.”

   “Yeah,” Zoro growled.

“HEY! THERE’S SOMETHING FALLING FROM THE SKY!” Chopper yelled.

The crew turned to see something splash in the water next to them before freaking out as a man popped up and started to drown. Zoro jumped in and pulled the man, teen really, out of the water. The teen coughed up all the water in his lungs and mad a few retching sounds just to be safe He sat up after he finished coughing and placed his hand behind his head and laughed.

“Thanks for saving me,” the man laughed dark blue eyes grinning as he rubbed his wet black hair. “I’m Ryuji, pleased to meet you, thanks for Saving… Me.”

“Hi, I’m Luffy!” Luffy grinned at the teen. “Nice to meet ya!”

“Fuck.” The teen gasped. “Well, this is not what I had in mind when I decided to go fishing.”

“You were fishing? Then why you fall out the sky?” Usopp asked.

“I’m not sure,” Ryuji frowned. “I was looking for something to cook up for my crew and then next thing I know, I was drowning?”

“You know how to cook?!” Luffy yelled. “Can you make me something?”

“Oi, I just made you a snack!” Sanji called from the galley, his head sticking out the door.

   “Jealous, mister cook?” Robin smiled.

“No, I just don’t want her to ruin dinner for herself,” Sanji growled, but then swooned. “If you want I can give it to you, Robin-chan!”

“I don’t mind,” Ryuji said getting up. “I’m kinda peckish myself. I’m always kinda hungry, got my mom’s stomach, sadly, but it’s also the Devil Fruit I ate.”

“Cool! What can you do?” Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper yelled.

“Oh, It’s the Fish Fish fruit: Model Dragon,” Ryuji smiled. “I’m a scaley Monster!”

   “Coooool!” The Youngster trio grin.

“a dragon?” Sanji frowned. “a dragon?”

“Yeah,” Ryuji blinked. “I was looking for something for my dad in the market one day and I found this fruit, I thought I’d taste it first before realized I couldn’t swim anymore. Papa had a heart attack, Mom laughed for weeks, but the fire breathing helps in the kitchen.”

   “Fire breathing?!” the youngsters yelled.

“I am a dragon, that’s kinda my thing?” Ryuji frowned. “Any who, I’m going to go catch me a snack.”

Zoro smirked as Ryuji walked off the boat on little clouds of soft glowing fire. His features morphed from soft boyish charm into sharp teeth and long horns. Fingers becoming claws, and a large tail covered in scales flicked back and forth like a lazy cat.

Luffy and Chopper “oohed” and “Awed” as Ryuji plopped himself down on a cloud.

“No fun, you can’t just sit on a cloud and do nothing!” Luffy yelled.

“I can do what I want,” Ryuji spoke. “I’m the Son of the King of the Pirates.”

“WHAT?!!!!!!??????!!!!????” the whole crew yelled as Ryuji yawned. “What do you mean you’re the son of the Pirate King?!”

“Yeah, My Mom is the King of the Pirates,” Ryuji yawned. “I figured out what’s kinda going on, now I just have to figure out why I’m here.”

“Stop Lying,” Luffy called out suddenly.

“I’m not,” Ryuji said not looking at Luffy as the rest of the crew freaked out. “Look, I’m not sure how or why, But I think I got dropped from the future somehow. Where I’m from my mother has been King for about twenty five ish years. I’m not sure how long really. But I’m not the scary one of the King’s children, that would be my sister, she has a something called the Fish Fish Fruit: Model Siren. It’s not that cool. She sings, she turns into a scary fish and a scary fish lady, with an ugly face.”

“Oi Don’t talk about a Lady like that,” Sanji yelled.

“She’s my sister, if anyone this planet gets to call her ugly and only get mildly killed for it, it’s me,” Ryuji groused, smoke coming out of his mouth. “It’s my given right as her little brother, to be an ass, but I can assure you, despite how much of an ass I am to her, she will kill anyone who harms a single hair on my head, she gets that from my mom.”

“Yeah, sounds right,” Luffy grinned. “My brothers talk about me like that too!”

“Zoro, remind me to beat Ace next time we meet him,” Sanji growled.

“If it bothered Luffy, she would have kicked his ass for it,” Zoro yawned. “So, Why you so upset, shitty brows?”

“I’m not upset, he’s making fun of a Lady,” Sanji groused.

“Are you sure it’s not because someone else offered to feed Luffy without your express permission,” Zoro asked with a lifted eyebrow.

“No! And you guys know I’m very picky about what we eat because I want us all to be our best and get all the nutrition we need, Moss Brains!” Sanji pouted.

“Yeah,” Zoro frowned. “Okay, good luck trying to win Luffy over, the way you’re going, I’ll be giving her away to someone else.”

“What’s that Moss Head!?” Sanji yelled. “what ever.”

Sanji marched back to the kitchen, and Zoro caught their new travel buddy glaring at Sanji’s retreating back before turning back and hunched over like Luffy in a pout. Zoro snorted and moved on, looks like his captain trusts him more than he thought.

“Oi, Kid, make sure to give them absolute hell while you’re here,” Zoro grinned.

“Kay, will do, Uncle Mo…” Ryuji spoke before coughing. “Shit, Ryuji, you complete dumbass!”

“Heh,” Zoro grinned. “If you’re not careful those idiots will figure it out, so try to keep it together. Also I better be your favorite!”

“What’s Zoro talking about? “Usopp frowned.

“It’s like Zoro knows something we don’t?” Chopper frowned.

“It’s his job to know things that the other’s don’t,” Ryuji smiled. “that’s what being a first mate means. He enforces the captain’s wishes and makes sure that all the crew is looked after. Oof”

“I see,” Robin said patting Ryuji’s head. “So, you’re learning to be a captain?”

   “No,” Ryuji sighed. “A Prince.”

“I see,” Robin smiled. “Well then, little prince, this shall be fun.”

“You’ll have to tell them everything you know,” Ryuji spoke. “And when I’m from that is illegal.”

Robin flinched and turned to look at the grinning boy on the floating cloud. He knew things he shouldn’t know. Robin had played on a hunch that the boy was lying, seeing Luffy’s smile on Sanji’s face had been a shock, but their cook’s kindness radiated from the boy and their Captain’s determination as well. But there he was in living flesh yawning in the sun like a happy lizard.

“Weren’t you just fishing?” Usopp asked.

“Decided I wanted a nap, sun’s nice and warm,” Ryuji yawned, and rolled onto the deck of the Merry, fast asleep.

“Like a Lizard?” Usopp asked only to get glared at.

“Dragon!” Ryuji hissed in Usopp’s face. “Dragon! I don’t do that tongue thing!”

Ryuji stuck his forked tongue out and hissed before rolling away to nap. Robin laughed as Usopp screamed about Ryuji being scary before passing out. Zoro opened his eyes long enough to see Ryuji flop beside him and grinned. His captain’s kid, who would have thought he would be babysitting a seventeen-year-old from the future. Swirling eyebrows twitched as Ryuji dropped off into his nap, his long tail curling around him the same direction as the swirls on his horns. Blue-green scales glittered in the sun and Zoro stretched himself out for a nap.

   “Wow, he’s scary,” Usopp muttered.

“He’s so cool!” Luffy yelled. “Nami, He’s staying!”

“Great another mouth to feed,” Nami sighed. “Aye, Aye, Captain.”

Just as everything  was settling down, Ryuji shot up, eyes wide, before everyone turned to see a huge ship falling from the sky. Nami screamed for the crew to move the ship, Ryuji frowned, as he took a breath and blew fire at the debris falling around the Merry keeping it away.

“Fire Breath! Fire Breath!” Luffy chanted.

“Oi! We have bullshit falling from the sky and you’re going on about my fire breathing?!” Ryuji yelled. “Why, why me? Why couldn’t I go back to Roger?”

   “Roger?” Robin repeated.

   “Never mind,” Ryuji frowned.

“Where did this massive wreck come from?” Nami questioned. “there’s no way we saw it just drop from the sky.”

   “But it did!” Usopp whined.

   “Yeah!” Chopper copied.

Sanji frowned as he took a drag of his cigarette. Something was off about this wreck, sinking before them, but he couldn’t lay his finger on it. Nami had mentioned that the logpost was pointing up. The Mysterious boy that fell from the sky, this day just kept getting better and better.

“Cool, Let’s go explore the wreck!” Sanji whipped around to knock Luffy out. Of course, his captain thought it was a cool idea to go explore a  sinking wreck. Had she lost her mind? What if she got hurt or drowned? She’s a Devil Fruit user, of course she would drown! His Precious captain would think of something like that, she’s a brilliant as she is. Damn it, Sanji!

“Yeah, we should have equipment that will let us,” Usopp muttered.

“Then Me, Sanji and Zoro will going to explore the wreck!” Luffy grinned.

“Alright,” Zoro got up and headed for where Luffy was dancing around the deck.

Nami sighed as she moved to get Sanji to help her with the air pump. Robin giggled as Ryuji made a face before picking Chopper up and cuddling him as the rest of the crew set up the diving equipment. Usopp started to pump, but Ryuji came over and walked him away to use his own tail to pump the air down to the three below.

“How is your tail doing that?” Robin asked.

“Oh, it’s prehensile, like a monkey’s,” Ryuji frowned. “It’s really handy when I need to climb and cook, I can keep stirring a pot and chop veggies. Oh I’m sorry!”

“It’s fine, just keep pumping,” Nami grinned. “Who knows what kind of treasure they’re going to bring up!”

“Um what’s that drum sound?” Chopper asked.

   “Are those?” Usopp asked.

Ryuji sighed as a very banana themed boat that was huge sailed up from the horizon. Usopp and Chopper screamed as the ship got closer. Robin frowned and Nami bit her lip as they got closer. Meanwhile, at the bottom of the sea, Luffy was grinning as she turned everything upside down looking for treasure. She was sure she saw something cool, and was going to show Sanji, when something shook the wreck.

“No, My crab!” Luffy whined. “I wanted Sanji to cook that!”

“Oi, Luffy, you find anything cool?” Zoro asked.

“I found a crab, but I got away,” Luffy pouted.

“Just catch another one,” Zoro sighed.

“Zoro, we can keep Ryuji, right?” Luffy frowned.

“You said we could captain,” Zoro frowned.

“But something feels like I won’t get to keep him,” Luffy muttered, clutching at her stomach. “He’s been here for less than a day, but he’s going to leave us.”

“He said he was from the future,” Zoro spoke. “We’ll have to send him back.”

“Yeah, but he’s so cool!” Luffy whined. “And he’s a giant Lizard!”

“I think Ryuji would hiss at you for calling him that.” Sanji chuckled.

“Sanji is being nice to him now,” Luffy giggled. “Is it because he stopped trying to feed me?”

“No, because he saved our ship,” Sanji griped. “Luffy, where did all these crabs come from?”

“Can you cook them?” Luffy begged.

“Yeah, just hold onto them and we’ll head back up,” Sanji sighed.

   “Yay!” Luffy yelled. “Crab dinner!”

“Guys, if you can hear me,” the sound of Ryuji’s voice filtered through the pipe. “NAMI SAID GET YOUR ASSES BACK UP HERE!”

“You little shit,” Sanji yelled. “MY SWEET NAMI-SWAN WOULD NEVER SAY SOMETHING SO VULGAR!”

   “Sounds like Nami,” Luffy giggled.

“I wonder if they’re in trouble up there,” Zoro frowned.

“Ryu-Chan can handle it,” Luffy laughed. “He’s super strong!”

“DON’T CALL ME RYU-CHAN!” all three of them flinched as  Ryuji’s voice filtered through the air tubes. “Hurry up and get up here, dumbasses! I’m one person not three Monsters!”

“He sounded like shitty brows there for a second,” Zoro muttered.

“I’m going to kick his ass!” Sanji yelled. “I’m not a monster!”

“Yes, you are,” Zoro and Luffy confirmed.

“My Lovely Nami doesn’t think so!” Sanji frowned.

Before Luffy of Zoro could tell him otherwise, the wreck there were on shook.

“Neh, neh,” Chopper whispered as the salvage crew tried to bring up the wreck. “Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji will be okay right?”

“Of course,” Usopp muttered. “Those three are absolute monsters, this won’t kill them.”

“No, this crew is filled with legends,” Ryuji muttered. “Nothing can kill the Straw Hat Pirates. Fate herself laughs when people try.”

“I’m not sure I like knowing that,” Chopper whispered back.

“Sometimes you can’t fight your fate, but other times you can flip it off.” Ryuji grinned. “Hehehe.”

“You sound like Luffy. Stop that,” Usopp frowned.

“Where are they, these people are about to kill us over a shipwreck!” Nami cried.

“We’re back!” Luffy screamed. “We found crabs!”

“THAT’S NOT WHAT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE LOOKING FOR!” Nami yelled.

“I found an old map, and some old relics, Nami-swan!” Sanji smiled.

   “Luffy, found crabs,” Zoro frowned.

“Thanks for reaffirming Luffy’s crabs,” Nami sighed.

“How?” Ryuji muttered under his breath. “How are these people the Straw Hats? Why couldn’t I have traveled to when they were cooler and with their whole crew.”

“How are we what?” Luffy asked as Ryuji turned his head to pout. “Ryu-Chan, how are we what?!”

“I TOLD YOU NOT TO CALL ME THAT!” Ryuji yelled.

“NO, I’M GOING TO CALL YOU THAT!” Luffy yelled back. “IT’S CUTE!”

“STOP BEING A SO STUBBORN AND LEARN PEOPLE’S NAMES!” Ryuji yelled back.

“NO, RYU-CHAN IS RYU-CHAN!” Luffy pouted right back. “Captain’s orders.”

“YOU CAN’T JUST ‘CAPTIAN’S ORDERS’ ME ABOUT MY OWN DAMN NAME!” Ryuji hissed.

“HEY! DON’T IGNORE US!” the captain from the Salvage Ship yelled.

“SHUT UP!” Luffy and Ryuji yelled. “WE DON’T CARE!”

“Wow, they sound a lot alike,” Sanji sighed as he lit up a cigarette. “It’s like there’s two Luffy’s on board.”

“What’s the matter curly brows?” Zoro grinned. “Scared?”

“No, just worried about our food stores,” Sanji frowned. “Oi! Watch the tail!”

“Sorry!” Ryuji called back before wrestling Luffy to the ground. “Say it with me: Ryuji!”

   “RYU-CHAN RYU-CHAN RYU-CHAN!” Luffy yelled back.

“Kid, you might as well give up, she’s not going to call you by your full name!” Zoro sighed.

“But I hate it!” Ryuji whined. “Only my sister calls me that! It’s so annoying!”

“Stop ignoring me!” once again the Salvage captain yelled.

“Oh it’s a Monkey guy,” Luffy grinned. “Can you tell us how to get to the next island?”

“Oh yeah sure!” the captain grinned. “If you just head that way you’ll make it to Jaya.”

“Cool, buh-bye!” Ryuji grinned. “Greave, triple punt!”

The crew watched as the monkey like captain was slapped by a triple kick out into the ocean. Zoro started slow clapping and Ryuji stuck his tongue at him. Usopp, Luffy, and Chopper where screaming about how cool. Nami gaped as the man surfaced while the Merry happily booked it away. Robin giggled as Ryuji’s face got redder and redder at the attention from the youngest of their crew. Sanji, Sanji was frowning.

“Who taught you that?” Sanji frowned.

“Papa taught me that,” Ryuji smiled. “Why?”

Sanji frowned as Ryuji was pulled into a game with the youngsters. That form was so much like his own and Zeff’s that it was scary, but the way he used his tail. Sanji wondered what that greaves technique would look like if he used one of Chopper’s rumble balls.

“Don’t experiment on the Kid,” Zoro frowned.

“I’m not doing that! Sanji yelled whipping around to glare at Zoro, face paler than normal.

“I’m Sorry,” Zoro spoke, realizing he crossed some unseen line. “I’m sorry, you’re not experimenting on kid, but I would also like to see him use Chopper’s rumble balls.”

“Right, he’s a Zoan,” Chopper muttered. “Like me!”

“Don’t get too excited, Chopper,” Zoro sighed. “Oi! Turn that Wakawaka face off!”
