Furuya Satoru is undeniably a cool, mysterious, and handsome figure in Seidou. This image has been especially magnified after his performance in Koshien. It has become normal for him to get a lot of attention from the female population. However, what is puzzling is how he seems to be impervious to all the confessions as he has remained single all this time.
One day, after witnessing yet another girl getting ignored (intentionally or unintentionally, nobody is sure), a classmate couldn’t rein in his curiosity anymore and asked Furuya, innocent Furuya, if he's "seeing someone" because he always turn down confessions from the girls.
"Seeing someone?" Furuya asks, not sure what it meant.
"You know, like going out with someone?"
I go out with Eijun all the time, Furuya thought. But he wasn’t sure, so he wanted to clarify, "How do you know if you're going out with someone?"
The classmate looks at him incredulously, but he answers anyway. "I guess, simply put you guys hang out, spend time with each other a lot, eat together, do fun stuff, hold hands, hug, erm, and you know the other stuff."
Furuya thought that pretty much is what he and Eijun does, well except for the other stuff because he doesn’t really know what it means. "What if you do all those except for the other stuff?"
The classmate was surprised and excitedly asks, "So you really are seeing someone?!"
Furuya shrugs, "I guess so. I always do those things with Eijun. But what does the other stuff mean?"
"Wait, what? You mean— you're going out with Sawamura?"
Furuya was confused, it's not like it wasn't obvious. They hang out all the time, why is he so surprised?
"Wasn't it not obvious?" Furuya asks.
The classmate thought for a minute and figured Furuya and Sawamura are practically joint at the hip majority of the time. He soon reached a conclusion. Ah, so that's why Furuya turned down all those confessions from the girls. Turns out he's not into them and is already taken. "Oh yeah. I'm sorry I didn't realize sooner. Are you guys keeping it a secret?"
"Why would we keep it a secret?"
"Right, right,” his classmate readily agrees. “So is it okay if other people know about you guys? Because I think it'll be easier if others know so they don't ask you out anymore." What he didn’t say is that he’s just very eager to tell everyone about this exclusive scoop! This is first-rate kind of gossip! The baseball team's main string pitchers are together! Aaaaaaaaaa!
"Oh, so it's like that.”
The classmate nods enthusiastically. "Yes, if they knew they wouldn't have bother confessing to you! Doesn't Sawamura get jealous over those?"
Furuya thinks for a minute and remembers Eijun complaining about why he's so popular and how he's jealous about it. "Oh, he mentioned he was jealous before."
The classmate doesn’t know that Sawamura’s jealousy isn’t really the same jealousy he was pertaining to, but that’s not important. He is just delighted he got this detail from Furuya who usually just ignores people. Maybe it does help when you talk about the people you like! Amazing, he thought. "There you go. Don't make him jealous anymore and just tell people."
Furuya thinks that's fine, so he just nodded. "Okay."
Three days later
Eijun stomps into Satoru's room in a rage. Good thing it was just Satoru in there because it was about to get loud.
"FURUYA SATORU!" He yells as the door slammed shut. Satoru looks up to him innocently from his desk, and Eijun couldn't help but feel like his fiery anger has been doused a little. It’s like an involuntary response when he sees Satoru, he just can’t help but feel a bit calmer.
But just a little bit this time. He is still very angry! Satoru is not getting away with this!
"WHY ARE YOU TELLING PEOPLE WE ARE GOING OUT?"
Satoru just blinked at him. "Aren't we?"
"Wha– Why would you think that?!”
Satoru was confused. He thought it was obvious. "We go out all the time?"
"What do you mean we go out all the time?!"
"Doesn't going out mean," Satoru paused and flipped a few pages of his notepad and read out, "hang out, spend time with each other, eat together, do fun stuff, hold hands, hug, and other stuff? Don't we do all those things?"
Eijun was stumped. What Satoru said was indeed true. But! "Yes, we do all those but—"
"Then it's true. We're going out."
Eijun could feel his face heat up. Why is this idiot deciding things on his own? He hasn't even asked me out yet! But wait, does he want Satoru to ask him out? AAAAAA!!! He internally panics as he realizes that he really just might want that.
"But," Satoru continues. "I also did some research and found what the other stuff meant. We've already done most of it so I wanted to do the other stuff too."
"Eh???"
Satoru looked at his notes again. “Like meeting each other’s friends and family. When would you like to do that?”
Eijun opened his mouth, but he can’t seem to form words, so he just lets out a “Ha???”
"Also kissing. We haven’t done that yet."
Eijun sputtered, choking on his own spit. "WHAT THE HELL FURUYA?!!!"
"What? Don't you want to try it with me?" Satoru asks seriously, brows furrowed as if worried Eijun might not want to do it with him.
"Of course I'd want to!" Eijun's mouth says before his mind could stop him. "Wait—"
And that was how Furuya Satoru and Sawamura Eijun got together. Just don't ask them when exactly they got together because this is still up to debate. Satoru would like to say that they've been going out for a long time, to which Eijun would say "That didn't count, you jerk!"
But an important thing to note is that the rest of the baseball team who has witnessed their public display of affection, albeit unintentional, would definitely agree with Satoru on this one.
