Cherries

Summary:

He Xuan teases a very gullible Wind Master.

-

"There's enough cyanide in five cherry cores to kill a grown man." He Xuan smirks, looking back at her papers. It was fun, messing with Shi Qingxuan. Not only was she incredibly gullible, but she was also quite the dramatic one.

It was endearing.

Work Text:

"I don't agree with you on that one." Lady Wind Master shrugs, plopping a ripe cherry in her mouth, grinning from ear to ear. Shi Qingxuan enjoyed teasing Ming Yi, and her dear Earth Master never seemed to mind much. Well, she did, but Shi Qingxuan never made any effort to stop. It wasn’t like Ming Yi hated her company either, she was sure that deep down, this cold, unfeeling, gorgeous god loved spending time with her too…she just needed some way to prove it.

"Agree with what you want. I'm not backing down from my stance on the subject." She responds, clearly annoyed by the Wind Master who spontaneously decided to visit her while she was knee-deep in paperwork. "Now can you leave?" He Xuan truly did not need Qingxuan lazing around her office while she was trying, and somewhat failing, at managing the real Earth Master’s affairs.

"Nope." Shi Qingxuan eats another cherry, her eyes still trained on He Xuan. It was then that the ghost noticed something off about the way this so-called god ate the fruits Xie Lian had so benevolently offered her.

"Where are the seeds?"

"The what?"

"Cherry seeds?" She pointed at the crimson fruit in her hand. "You know, the core, in the middle."

"There's a core?!" Panic visibly shot through the Wind Master. "What is it going to do to me?"

"There's enough cyanide in five cherry cores to kill a grown man." He Xuan smirks, looking back at her papers. It was fun, messing with Shi Qingxuan. Not only was she incredibly gullible, but she was also quite the dramatic one.

It was endearing.

"You're lying."

"Am not."

"It was good while it lasted.” Shi Qingxuan huffs, putting the fruit basket aside, burying her face in her hands. “Tell ge I’ll miss him very badly.”

"Just that?" The ghost finally finishes signing the last paper she had to look over for the day, now able to focus her full attention on the Wind Master–she continues. “Should I also tell him how exactly his sister died?”

“Don’t you dare Ming Yi!” Shi Qingxuan nearly screams, slamming her hands on the wooden table, feigning anger–the smile on her soft, beautiful face betrayed her actions.

“And what? You’ll come back as a Ghost King to haunt me?” He Xuan wanted to bury herself in a bottomless pit at the irony of her words.

“I very well might!” The ghost huffs at that. Shaking her head, she reaches for the basket.

“You really are clueless, sometimes.” He Xuan absentmindedly mutters, tasting the fruit for herself. It wasn’t half-bad, she had to admit.

“What do you mean?”

“You are a god, Qingxuan. The most it’ll give you is a slight stomach ache, and even that’s a reach.” He Xuan could clearly see the relief wash over her friend’s features, before earning a playful slap on the wrist.

“How dare you scare me half to death?! I deserve payback.”

“Sure thing–” He Xuan did indeed receive payback, when Shi Qingxuan stood up and walked around the table to her side, sitting next to her.

The next few moments were a blur when the Wind Master’s lips met hers, He Xuan’s hands instinctively placing themselves on the smaller one’s waist. To say that a whirlwind of emotions flooded He Xuan’s brain was an understatement–she wasn’t supposed to enjoy this so much.

She wasn’t supposed to enjoy kissing the woman she had sworn to take her revenge on one day…and yet the Wind Master made it so difficult not to love every second of the kiss they shared.

Shi Qingxuan made it so difficult for He Xuan not to love her.
