Work Text:
It was a ridiculously hot summer. Unlike his dear friend Yuuji, Megumi couldn’t take the heat too well. However, seeing that dear friend of his made his suffering more bearable.
Eventually the trio of first graders decided to go out for the day. As the day went on and as they explored the already known area, but all the dark-haired boy could focus on was the vessel that captivated his heart, and yet had no clue. Yuuji hadn’t known how he had made his friend’s heart drum in the dead of night, nor did he notice how Megumi would look at him differently than others. It was not a look of intimate desire but rather a soft gaze of adoration. A gaze that was intentionally so soft.
Megumi couldn’t help but look at the boy so fondly. Not when the only thing he would ever want from him would quite purely be the boy himself. To be able to admire the smile form on that face. To smile back upon laying his eyes on his lips.
Megumi knew what this feeling was. But he couldn’t bring himself to name it, nor could he admit it to himself.
As of this moment, with the setting sun and the boy next to him. He found himself at peace. He couldn’t last forever. This won’t last forever. The dark-haired sorcerer knew all of this, and yet he couldn’t fight against the feelings that grew in his chest. These feelings that would also infest his mind and soul.
He'll let himself enjoy this moment. He’ll enjoy the present and experience the heartbreak at a later date.
That’s all he can do currently.
As the night came to be with the rising of the stars and the moon Megumi’s gaze fixated itself on the light-haired boy. The way the embers of the flame only enhance how bright he is. From his smile to his loud gestures.
Itadori Yuuji was perfect.
His beauty never scared him.
It could never scare him.
