Work Text:
another night working overtime. jean sat at her desk, shuffling through papers that glowed in the moonlight. she peered at the clock sitting on a bookshelf- it read 11:57. most everyone else was out of the headquarters by 7, but jean constantly had work to finish. lisa had left around 8, kissing jean goodbye and telling her she’d stay up until the knight got home. jean hoped lisa had fallen asleep - or else everyone would have to deal with a grumpy librarian the following day.
jean jumped when she heard a knock on her office door. she stood up carefully, prepared to fight whatever came through the door. it slowly creaked open, lisa sticking her face through the crack.
“it’s just you,” jean let out a sigh of relief as lisa entered the room and shut the door behind her.
“just me?” lisa teased. she was wearing one of jean’s sweatshirts and a pair of pajama shorts, as well as a pair of slippers. “i didn’t think it would be too chilly out,” lisa said as a shudder went up her spine, making her way over to jean’s desk.
“do you want a blanket?” jean asked, tucking a strand of lisa’s messy hair behind her ear.
“i’m okay, dear.” lisa placed a gentle kiss on her lips before moving to go sit on the couch. “how much is left?” lisa wiggled her feet out of her slippers, jean sitting back down at her desk.
“i’ll probably be here for another hour, maybe,” jean shrugged.
“i’ll stay until then, don’t let me fall asleep though.” lisa smiled, curling up on the couch.
jean was illuminated by the moonlight- lisa couldn’t take her eyes off of her. she sat silently as her wife worked hard, admiring her determination. she slowly began to doze off as she watched jean, the subtle clicks of a pen and the whistling winds outside putting her to sleep.
jean looked over to find lisa passed out on the couch.
“oh, lisa,” jean chuckled as she stood up. lisa had mentioned it being cold earlier, and jean didn’t have it in her to take care of a sick lisa. jean slipped off her coat and laid it over lisa’s bare legs, grinning at how cute her wife was. jean bent down and placed a kiss on lisa’s forehead before she sat back down to finish her work. she was finally nearing the end of the pile, and seeing lisa asleep made her want to go even faster so the couple could go home.
“lisa, baby,” jean crouched down next to the couch. “we can go home now.” lisa stirred and stretched her arms, smiling as she opened her eyes. jean helped her stand up and placed the coat on the librarian’s shoulders. the two walked hand in hand out of the headquarters, admiring the dark, barely-lit streets of mondstadt.
“what time is it?” lisa asked.
“almost 1.” jean said, content as their house came into view.
“i’m sure you’re tired,” lisa gave jean’s hand a comforting squeeze. the two entered their home, undressing before slipping under the covers.
“goodnight jean,” lisa whispered, placing her head in the crook of jean’s neck.
“goodnight, lisa.” jean wrapped her arms around lisa’s bare waist and pulled her closer, happily drifting off to sleep.
