Chapter Text
Mike Crew is hungry, no, not that hungry-he'd already gotten that one settled, normal hungry. The kind that kindly informs you, and by consequence everyone around you in a hearing distance of its presence. It chanced him a few minutes after he fed his deity, puzzling him for a moment as he's grown accustomed to the more inhuman sort of craving that he married when he Became, he damn near considered trying for another sacrifice before the tell-tale rumble in his guts made itself known to him.
So there he was, waiting in a line like the everyday man because; as is common with men of his age, Simon neglected to send him his monthly allowance, although not crippling Michael's access to food entirely, it took ordering takeout completely out of the picture. Not with these gas prices. Definitely not with these gas prices. Mike sighed, his back pressed against the cold tiles behind him, one hand half-shoved into his pocket, his thumb and index finger left out, a dollar bill folded in between them. He had initially planned on asking for a smoke, but the thought left him as quickly as it came. Looking for other things to pay attention to, he looked to his side, watching the man in front of him giving the poor parlor an unwelcomed amount of shit, raising his voice like he owned the place but not enough to arouse a crowd, ordering her around as he pleased. Consequentially the young lady, under the immense pressure, taps out on the verge of tears, almost bumping into another worker while muttering a string of words unintelligible from where Mike was standing, occasionally broken up by a hitched breath. Another lady is working the stand now, and by the looks of it, she's much less easy to poke around.
The (by technicality) commotion died down, and now Mike is at the forefront of the line, the server lady looking at him expectantly. He freezes, immediately made aware of his...less than desirable social skills. Maybe he should've just waited for the money, he thought. A lesson in patience, and, glancing at the rows of food items in front of him he continued, a lesson in humility.
