Chapter 1: How It Began

Chapter Text

Félix and Pepa were slowly growing apart. When was the last time they did anything together? The last time they went out was five months ago, when Dolores and Mariano had a baby. That was the last time they truly loved each other. That was last time they kissed, they last time they smiled at each other, the last time they fully appreciated each other.

Their relationship - which was once an oasis - had become a barren wasteland. What was their to do? 34 years ago, when they married, was the peak. That was the top of their relationship. Since then, it was losing its spark. Pepa was now thundering constantly, and Félix was always getting irritated. This only made things worse.

"Why do you always have to be thundering? Can't you just shut up for once?"

"Excuse me? You want me to stop? Yeah, telling me to shut up is gonna make things a whole lot better. Thanks a bunch." Pepa rolled her eyes before storming off.

"Mama, is everything alright?" Dolores couldn't handle the stress of it all. It's like they're angry because she had a baby. Because of her relationship with Mariano. It was only after the child they started acting strange.

"Yes, Félix is just—"

"Oh, you think it's my fault? Amor, she's just been a bit—"

"Mama, Papa, it's alright,"

They sighed.

"Breakfast's ready!" Alma clapped.

Antonio, about to sit down, saw Pepa and moved.

"If you'd like to sit here, you can,"

"Of course you try your best to avoid sitting next to your own husband.."

"Guys, it's fine.." Mirabel insisted.

"Why do I even bother? I should've gone with— whatever."

"With what? With what, Félix?"

"Antonio.. it's fine. Don't worry." Felix said, trying his best to change the subject.

Pepa sighed.

She wished things could be better. She missed the way things were, they way they loved each other, the way everything was always perfect.. but that was the past. Things would never return to normal. It will always say us be like this. That's just Félix.

In truth, she was scared. Scared that she wouldn't be able to love someone the way she loved Félix ever again. Things were heading south. She was losing her willingness to continue and fight through the storm. Everything was.. fading.
