Chapter Text
Phil sighed as he closed the hood of the truck, he had just finished putting in a new battery for Mr. Sparklez as everyone around here calls him. The nickname had to do with some prank someone played on him a few years back, something to do with glitter Phil assumed.
"Alright, New battery is in, wires are replaced, and your truck is good to go Jordan." Phil smiled wiping off oil onto a pink rag, that honestly didn't look very clean but who could blame it for being so ratty Phil had the thing for over a decade, mixed it with red clothes, dropped it in a few oil pans, and probably even ran it over once or twice.
"Thank you, thank you, Phil, you're amazing I hope you know that." Sparkle'z smiled bringing Phil into an awkward hug.
"Yeah yeah if this is your way of getting out of paying it ain't working, you're still gonna own me, big time, I don't just normally have a perfectly fine battery for your ford f150" Phil smiled as he pulled away,
"Hey, it's not my fault that it flooded down in the valley! I just wanted to go camping enjoy the stars, and listen to the Crickets but nope! Rain, thunder, flood." Jordan crossed his arms and tisked. "I was just about to sleep too before that nasty storm ruined everything."
Phil shook his head. "It's alright, maybe you'll not take your nice truck down where it gets fucking muddy during spring."
Sparkle'z scoffed. "Yeah yeah, it was nice seeing yuh philza!" He shouted before hopping into his truck and driving out of his driveway a few minutes later.
Phil smiled ad he put his tools away, and just about when he put them all into his truck he got a call from work. He picked it up quickly hearing his boss Scott on the other end.
"Yeah. yeah, where? Ah, I know where that is. yeah, I can get there soon I'm not that far into town Scott." Phil nodded along to what Scott was asking him, memorizing what he was telling him.
Once Scott hung up Phil was In His truck and was driving to the outskirts of town, just barely into the country but not far enough to call it in the city.

Kristen slammed the door shut after she tried restarting the truck for the tenth time it still not starting up.
She pressed her knuckles into her forehead as she waited for the tow truck to get here. she just wanted to visit her parents, she hadn't done that in a few years.
Eventually, she saw a dark navy blue truck approach her, a man in the driver's seat letting his arm rest on the door frame as he pulled up.
"You're Kristen right?" He asked cocking an eyebrow as he turned off the radio that played a w.a.s.p song throughout the truck. "There's not another person having car issues in the middle of nowhere right?" Phil laughed and smiled a toothy grin.
Kristen smiled, "yes I'm Kristen and I hot not, the storm yesterday is making today muggy as all can be." She chuckled.
Phil nodded in agreement. "So what's the issue with your truck today," Phil exited out of his vehicle and headed to the bed to get the corresponding tools he would need for the job.
"I'm not sure exactly," she shrugged. "The damn thing just stopped, and now won't start." She glared at the truck as if it would give her a response.
Phil sighed. "How much do you want to guess it's the battery." He raised an eyebrow. Kristen looked at him confused. "Oh, well chevy's have lots of issues, but I've been seeing a lot more battery's with them, tho it's just a common issue in any vehicle now and days, they don't make trucks or cars like they used to." Phil sighed zoning out as he thought for a bit before shaking himself out of his head and trying to focus on the job. "Pop the hood would you?" He asked a small smile on his face.
Kristen opened the door and clicked the button underneath the steering wheel allowing Phil to take a look inside.
Phil shook his head and laughed. "What do you know, I was right," he smiled heading off back to the tool chest in the back of his truck, taking out a set of wires with alligator clamps on each end. "This should do it, he nodded as he set up the wires onto each battery, one in Kristen's car and one in Phil's.
"Alright," he clamped his hands looking towards Kristen who had a dazed or confused look on her face like she had looked away for a second, but too many things changed. "Can you do me a flavor?" Phil smiled. Kristen nodded assuming he meant favor.
"Yeah?" She cocked an eyebrow looking at the wires that connected the two trucks.
"Can you go in my truck and just start it, no need for petals or buttons, just turn the key," Phil explained handing Kristen the keys to his truck. She nodded before following Phil's directions,
After a few tries both trucks were running. Phil threw his arms up in the arm and cheered. "Yes! Haha! I was right!" He shouted grinning wildly.
Kristen hopped out of the car her red floral dress flowed with her. She smiled as Phil turned to her, "what do I owe you?" She asked opening up her truck again and pulling out her purse.
"What- no, no," Phil rushed, "this will be on me, this wasn't any skin off my back." He smiled.
Kristen stared at him for a while before smiling. She set her bag down next to the driver's seat before walking towards Phil planting a small kiss on his cheek before heading back in her vehicle, and driving away.
Phil stood there for away, his mouth gapping trying to process what had happened.
One minute- then she- then- what- huh
