Chapter Text
Everything around Luz stopped. She could see her girlfriend running towards her but it was too late. Belos had thrown her into the portal, before he turned into a monster from the sigil.
Just like that, no turning back. Luz was gone. Left in the human realm with no way of getting back to her friends and family, most importantly her girlfriend.
Fifteen years later, Noceda Residence, Connecticut, USA.
Luz spun in her chair while she depicted on how to right her argumentative essay for work. The summer had just begun and the sun shone through the window by her desk.
Just before she started writing, a ten year old girl tumbled into her office, covered in mud.
“Mam! Abuela and Tia are here! Stop starting at the screen and let’s go!” The impatient ten year old squeaked.
Luz rolled her eyes before commenting on her daughters muddy appearance, “What have I told you about bring mud into the house, Aria?”
Aria rolled her eyes, “Yeah yeah come on!”
She dragged her moms arm out of the chair and raced down the stairs.
“I know you did not just roll your eyes at me young lady!” Luz eyed her daughter as they reached the kitchen.
Vee and Kai were insulting each other while Camila casually drank wine.
Kai was Vee and Luz’s adopted older brother. The story on how Camila required him wasn’t clear but Luz and vee were happy to have a brother to annoy.
“Tia vee!” Aria dashed for her Tia and jumped into her arms.
“Aria my little spunky troublemaker!” Vee pulled her into a hug.
“what? No hugs for me?” Kai was offended.
Aria rolled her eyes at him, “I see you everyday you literally live with us!”
“More importantly no hugs for your abuela?” Camila was really offended.
Aria pulled herself out of her tias arms and dashed for her abuela, “Abuela Camila!”
Camila put her glass of wine down and hugged her granddaughter back.
“Really mom?” Luz put her hand on her hips, “Wine at 10 am?”
“Yes.” Camila flipped her hair.
“So what’s on the agenda?” Luz asked.
“We’re going to the fair!” Kai squeaked.
Aria stopped. Her eyes got wide.
“Oh god, here we go again.” Luz shook her head.
Aria squealed really loud. Loud enough to shatter the wine glass. Vee finally had the courage to hold her hand over Arias mouth.
“Jesus Christ aria, you could’ve cracked a window.” Luz scolded Aria.
Aria finally uncovered Vee’s hand from her mouth and shrugged, “Over excitement, plus the windows didn’t crack did they?”
“I said they could’ve.” Luz stared at Aria.
“Emphasis on the ‘could’ve’ mom.” Aria sassily put her hands on her hips.
“Where’d you get your sassiness from?” Kai was impressed.
She pointed at vee who was proud, “Guilty as charge!”
Vee high-fived Aria.
“Okay enough chitchat let’s roll.” Camila got her keys, “Vamos Vamos!”
They all got into the car and drove to the fair.
“I call dibs on the Faris wheel!” Aria was about to make a run for it before she was pulled back.
“Absolutely not, I don’t need a ten year old going around setting things on fire.” Luz rolled her eyes.
“Awe come one mom! It was one time!”
“Never again, we’ll go together.”
“Fine but you owe me cotton candy.” Aria stuck her tongue out as she made a break for it.
“Aria Edalyn Noceda get your ass back over here!”
Luz ran after Aria.
Vee turned to her mom, “I am so sorry for being reckless.”
“It’s okay Mijà. Let’s just go before something bad happens.”
Once Luz caught up to Aria, she was already standing in line, “That wasn’t so bad, now was it?”
Luz glared at her, “Your lucky your cute, or else I would’ve sold to to the freak show by now.”
“Aw, I love you too mom!” Aria smiled while Luz slowly shook her head.
They had gotten onto the Faris wheel after a ten minute wait, but it was worth it seeing the whole view of Gravesfield from above. The trees, the rivers and creeks. The tiny people Aria loved to call any people. It was a beautiful site.
After 9 long hours at the fair, and two candy crashes later, the family was back at the house recovering from a long day.
“Jesus I think I had to much candy.” Aria groaned.
“You and me both kid,” Kai laid face first on the couch.
Camila poured some wine in a glass when Luz made it inside.
“Pour me a glass mom, I need it.” Luz stumbled to the counter as Camila poured Luz as glass of red wine.
Vee grabbed two hot rags for the kids who crashed on candy. She carefully placed the rag on Arias forehead while she slapped the other one onto Kai’s back.
“Ow! That hurt you little bitch!” Kai yelled.
“Well if you stopped acting like a child they maybe I would slap it on you!” Vee yelled back.
“Screw it.” Camila took the bottle of wine and chugged it while aria chanted ‘fight fight fight!’
Aria suddenly remembered what happened five years ago.
“Hey mam!” Aria looked over the couch and made eye contact with her mom.
“Yeah hun?” Luz had the glass of wine to her lips.
“Do you remember five years go when that strange thing happened with me?” Aria questioned.
“Yeah, how you opened a portal for 5 seconds before it closed and everyone called you a witch and wanted to burn you?” Luz was halfway drunk by now.
“I wanna see if I can do it again.” Aria tried focusing but with her Mom and Abuela wine drunk and her Tia and Tio fighting, it was hard.
“Bro I cant get a single moments of peace in this goddamn family.” Aria slammed her hands on the couch.
“Aria don’t..” Luz mumbled as she drifted to sleep.
“Oh fantastic, your out…” Camila passed out too.
“Oh my fucking god! Sometimes I wish I had a slightly normal life!” Aria screamed.
Just then her hands had a blueish green shadow hovering it.
“uh, what the fuck-“ before Aria could finish, a space like portal appeared, it was yellow with star.
“UH I THINK I DID SOMETHING.”
Right as vee and Kai looked up, the portal pulled Aria in.
“ARIA!” vee screamed and tried grabbing Aria as the portal pulled her in.
Luz snapped awake and ran for her kid who was screaming, “ARIA!”
“MOMMY!”
before Luz could grab Aria in time, the portal pulled her in. And she was gone.
Boiling isles, Demon Realm.
Eda tapped her fingers on the hot table. Hunter was fixing her robotic arm due to a heating malfunction when a bunch of screams were heard.
Eda and hunter snapped their heads up while a kid ran through the streets.
Aria eventually bumped into A witch with greenish blue hair tied into a flower braid.
“Oh my! Are you okay dear!” The witch helped Aria up before a witch with dirty blond hair interrupted her.
“Careful flower, we don’t know what she is.” Hunter glared at the child.
“Oh for Titans sake hunter!” The witch scolded her husband, “she’s a child!”
“Wait a min.” Eda took a closer look at the kid who was more confused than anything.
“Round ears… your a human!” She pulled back in shock as Aria covered her ears.
“And you guys are witches!” Aria darted her eyes around as another ten year old moved passed her mom and to Aria.
“Cool! A human!” The witch shook her, “what’s your name? How old are you?”
Hunter pulled his daughter back, “that’s enough Sage.”
“Well, dear, I’m Willow, Willow Clawthorne, You?” Willow smiled.
Aria smirked, “Your mom.”
Willows faced dropped as hunter and Eda bursted into fits of giggles.
Sage unhooked herself from her dads grip, “Yeah I love your sarcasm and humor Already! I’m Sage!”
Aria smiled, “While thank you.”
And other dark witch and a smaller witch made their way over as well.
“A human? On the boiling isles? This is amazing!” The witch exclaimed.
“Calm down Gus. It’s just a human.” Hunter rolled his eyes.
Eda bent down to Arias level, “So what’s your name kid?”
“Aria, Aria Noceda, you Should know my mom, Luz Noceda.
Everyone around paused in shock.
“You’re joking-“ Eda stepped back.
“Nope. I came out of her, I’m pretty sure she’s my mom. Why?” Aria questioned.
“we all thought she was dead!” Gus exclaimed.
“No but she wishes.” Aria mumbled.
Willow looked at Aria confused, “huh?”
Aria snapped her up, “nothing…”
Eda sat down, “So your meaning to tell me that Luz has an offspring.”
“Yeah, keep up with the times old lady.” Aria put her hands on her hips.
“Yup, that’s Luz’s offspring all right,” Hunter rolled his eyes.
“Anways how do I get home?” Aria questioned.
“We’ll first we’ve gotta hide you, they don’t need to know you exist.” Hunter motioned for Luz to hide.
“Who the fuck is ‘they’ and why do they sound like a ruler?” Aria moved her hands in a confusing motion.
“Okay I get that I cuss by I highly doubt your mom would let cuss.” Eda judged Aria.
“She does I just don’t care.” Aria proudly put her hands on her hips.
“You’ve got some gut.” Gus admitted.
“So where are we going?” Aria asked.
“Somewhere super fun!”
