“Hi, I’m Minase, I’m from Japan, nice to meet you.”
The pink hair boy introduced himself nervously in front of the class. Everyone’s eyes are on him, they’re all curious about their new classmate, a transfer student who comes from the land of the rising sun. Minase bit his lips, trying to avoid everyone’s eyes.
After seeing the teacher sign, he quickly walks to his sit which is next to the window. He doesn’t like this. Moving to a new country, speaking a new language that he is not good at, everything just happened so suddenly that he can not adapt. His parents told him that everything will be fine. Will it be? He doesn’t even know.
And then Shu came.
Shu is the president of the student council, he is nice, he is friendly, and he is every teacher’s favourite. Minase has heard about him from his classmate a few times but didn’t pay much attention to it. It was a nice sunny day and Minase thought that it will be a good idea to wake up earlier than usual and walk to school to enjoy the nice weather.
He met Shu while walking to school, turn out Shu’s house is quite near his and the only reason why they never meet each other is that Shu usually wakes up early to go to school. Minase found out that Shu can speak Japanese fluently, which really helps Minase in communication. They become close friends since.
The rainy season comes. Minase, as usual, is walking in the hallway, enjoying the fresh air that the rain brings outside the window. The sky is dark, it has become cooler since the first day of the season. Everyone in the school has left, except him and some people in the student council. The council has an important meeting today, said Shu, the one that Minase has been waiting for for the past 1 and a half hour.
*I hate you, Shu-san.* He mumbled, slowly walking to upstairs, the place he has never been before. He didn’t have enough time to explore all the corners of the school since he doesn’t want to meet up with strangers so he took this as a chance to explore it (by just walking to random places). Hell, it was so tiring, he didn’t expect the third-floor gonna be this big. It is filled with club rooms, he can also see the student council room, which is actually next to the stair.
He found a library, it is next to the Literature club. He was very excited and walked into every room he found but suddenly, he stopped all of his movement. A mysterious voice came from the end of the hallway. It was beautiful, it was a nice melody, it was something that can make him forget about the reality.
He walks to the end of the hallway, following the voice. It leads him to a small room in the corner of the big hallway, a white sign saying “Music club” is placed above the door. The door was half opened so Minase can look inside without being spotted easily.
*Who even stays at school at this time?* He asked himself, sneaky looking into the room. The first thing that catches his attention is a purple-haired boy who is standing in the middle of the room, singing a very familiar Japanese song. Minase can’t move, he just stands there, hearing the boy’s lovely voice while the rain is pouring down harder, everything that he is into now is the beautiful voice and its owner.
At least that was what happened 5 minutes ago.
The student council’s door suddenly opened, but Minase didn’t notice it, until a familiar voice call his name.
*Minase-san! What are you doing there?* Hearing the voice, Minase startled and looked at his friend. The pretty boy in the room stops singing after he heard the big, loud voice in the hallway. The voice in the room has stopped, which made Minase panic. He scared that the boy will see him so he frantically runs to Shu and covers Shu’s mouth with his hand.
*Shu-san! We need to go, now!* He said and quickly run away, leaving his friend behind. Shu was confused because of his friend’s action but still follow after him. When Shu caught up with Minase, his friend’s face was as red as a tomato.
*Minase-san, why are you blushi-*
*It was all your fault!* Minase covers his face with his hands, doesn’t want Shu to see his face. The think of that boy saw him standing outside of the door makes he nervous. Shu, on the other hand, was confused. He just finished his meeting with the student council and the first thing he saw when he walked out of the room was Minase sneaky outside the music club room.
*Why is it my fault, and why did you stand outside the music club room?* Shu asked, looking at the person that is next to him.
*No- I was just- Nevermind, let’s go home.* Feel like he doesn’t want to answer the question, Minase quickly changed the topic, Shu wasn’t minded about his friend’s action, they just walk home together as usual, the only difference is that in Minase’s mind right now is the beautiful voice its lovely owner.
Minase has been acting weird these days, said Shu. After that particular day, Shu always saw Minase prowling on the third floor, near the music club, and when Shu asks Minase about it, Minase always changes the topic and Shu can't get the answer.
Shu was very worried about his friend, and he decided to ask Minase again about it when they were walking home together.
*Minase-san, are you hiding me something?*
*Hide?? No, no of course.*
*Then why are you always sneaking outside the music club room?*
Minase startled, try his best to avoid Shu’s eyes.
*Minase, you know you can tell me everything right?* Shu sighed, stop walking and looks at the pink-haired boy. *You have been acting weird these past few days and I’m kinda worried about it.”
Minase was nervous, he gather all of his confidence and look at Shu awkwardly.
*Shu- I- I don’t know, he has been all around my head and I can’t stop myself from thinking about him, I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I don’t kn-“
<⌿>“Minase, calm down. Who are you talking about?” Shu cut Minase’s word, surprised because all of the sudden, he noticed that his friend’s face has already turned red.
After a few moments of silence, Minase started telling Shu about that day, the day that he met the pretty purple boy, how he stood outside the door sneaky looking at him, and how Shu nearly made him get caught.
*I just don’t know Shu, he is just running on my mind.” Minase flushed, bit his lip.
*Purple hair?* Shu looks at Minase. *You mean Shoto?*
*You know him?*
*Yeah, you know Uki right? The person from the Literature club, Shoto is his best friend.* Shu stopped a little bit and then continued. *Hey come on, it is not a bad thing to have a crush on someone, and Shoto is a nice guy, he’s sweet and lovely. He is the kind of boyfriend material.*
*How did you know?* Minase looks at him suspiciously.
*There is something that you should not know right now but I will tell you in the future.* He answered and looked into the sky, it gonna start raining soon. Some sadness appears in Shu’s eyes, Minase decided not to ask about it anymore.
*I can help you approach him.* Shu smiled at Minase, he knows what is the best thing for his friend, both of his friends.
*Promise?* Minase asked excitedly, raising his pinky finger in front of Shu.
*Promise.* Shu raises his finger, and their little pinky promise has been made as the rain pours down.
Days past. It was another rainy day and Minase was sitting in his class, playing with his phone while waiting for Shu, the boy has some important meeting to attend. Suddenly, someone knocks on his class door and makes he startled, almost dropped his phone.
*Oh did I scare you?* A gentle voice asked him, he looks up and saw a dark blue hair guy standing there.
*You are Minase, right?* He asked in Japanese, Minase widen his eyes and look at the guy.
*I’m Soraru, the music club leader. I have heard from Shu that you want to meet someone from our club.* He smirked.
Minase was confused at first and then think about the promise that Shu and he has made a few days ago. Shu told him to stop sneaking around the club for a few days (that is why he is sitting here instead of being suspicious outside the music club.)
*Shu really said that to you?* Minase flushed. Shu, he gonna kill that man, this is unforgivable.
*Oh don’t worry, this is not the first time someone ask me to be their wingman.* Soraru walks to Minase and sits on the chair above him. *But you gotta pay for it.*
*Pay for it?* Minase surprised.
*Shu said you are really good at singing, he also let me hear one of your covers. So how about we have a deal?*
*A deal?*
*You will join my club, I will have a potential member while you have the chance to get closer to Sho-*
*Deal!* Minase said, excited about the idea that he can meet Shoto face-to-face and not behind the music club door. Soraru was surprised because of him but then smile gently. This boy is definitely something.
*Do you want to visit the club? The members are still there.*
*Oh I don’t think I ca-*
*Shoto is there too.* A loud noise from the chair which is lying on the floor right now, Minase quickly runs to the class door, looking more excited than ever. *What are you waiting for? Let’s go Soraru-san!*
*Coming!* Soraru chuckled and answered the boy as he followed him to the music club room. Minase is happier than ever, but it was before he reached the music club door. This is the first time that he can meet Shoto in person and not behind the big door. Is he nervous? Yes, he bit his lip and looked at Soraru, who is standing next to him right now. He looked at him with worried eyes, Soraru just smiled and nodded. After that, he grabbed Minase’s hand and opened the door.
*Guys, say hello to our new member!* Soraru said out loud, gaining everyone’s attention, eyes are on him, he is nervous, trying to find the familiar purple hair. Like can read his mind, Soraru called out Shoto’s name.
“Hey Shoto! Come here and say hi!*
Shoto, who was sitting behind Bao the whole time, can’t take his eyes off the new member. It took a few minutes for him to realize that Soraru is calling for him, he quickly walks to the place where Soraru is standing.
“Shoto, this is our new member, meet Minase.”
“Hi, I’m Minase, nice to meet you.” He said nervously.
“Hey, I’m Shoto.”
They shake their hand, well, for the straight 5 minutes. The handshakes slowly turn to hold hand, Shoto looks straight into Minase’s eyes, doesn’t want to let the other boy’s hand go. It’s so warm, Shoto thought to himself. Minase doesn’t feel awkward anymore, now, he just wants the time to stop so he can be with Shoto forever. Soraru has already left, and somehow also the others. There are only two of them in the room, ah, the rain is pouring outside again, each raindrop slowly hit the windows’ glass, breaking the silence in the room.
The rain is getting heavier, just like the day Minase met Shoto. But this time, Minase is not the only person who falling in love.
