Chapter Text
How did it end up this way? Why did it end up with way? Loid had never loved someone more than Anya and Yor, sure he had fake families in the past, but nothing compared to his family now, his mission was over, the hardest part of any mission, was letting to person on the other side of it go, he never had such a hard time before now. He knew that the now 8 year old Anya had trust and abandonment issues, which was completely understandable. Loid didn't want to be the cause of more issues, but it was either let this family go, or let his career go, he didn't know what to do, or how he was going to do it. On the other side of things, Yor, she felt so much for the family she has, sometimes she would forget it's a fake one, she loved Anya like her own, she love Loid, which she promised herself would never happen, yet it did, She couldn't help it, she was madly in love with Loid Forger, but very much so pushes it down. She too has a choice, give up her family, the only one she has ever known except her brother, or, her job. Anya didn't have much say in the matter, she knew the mission was over, she knew it had been time to leave, not look back. However it had always been hard for Anya to get adopted, then go right back to that shitty place she grew up in. She didn't know what was going to happen. One day, after Loid and Yor dropped her off at school, they watched her wave to them. Loid was seconds away from tears as he put the car in drive and drove back home, holding back tears on the way. Once they got home, Loid said he and Yor needed to talk.
"Yor, I don't know how I kept this a secret for so long, but, Anya isn't my real daughter" He confessed.
"What.." she responded.
"I adopted her, right around the time you met her, I have run into some difficulties with my job, that would make it safer for one of two things" Loid continued.
"Loid. Stop, don't say anything, I am not taking her back to some probably shitty orphanage in the middle of this terrible town, have you met the people in it?" Yor brought up.
"Which is why I want you to take her, I want you to take her, and go, it's not safe for you guys anymore, nor is it safe for me" Loid said.
"Loid, no, what happened at work? A client?" She asked. He swallowed hard.
"Yor, if I told you something that you could never tell anyone, ever, would you keep it a secret?" Loid asked. She nodded and looked at him deeply as he stumbled for the words
"I'm a spy, my mission is over, and if I don't do the next one, I lose my job" Loid explained, Yor went wide eyed.
"L-Loid... I'm not going anywhere, neither is Anya, because I'm not going to sit here and lose the two things I have ever love, other than my brother odviously, but I love Anya, and...I...love you as well which is why if after I tell you what I'm about to, you can leave, and at that point, safer to take Anya with you, rather than have her stay with me" Yor said, shocking to the blonde man
"Yor..I-I love you too, I love Anya too, but, she's already a target, a target for them to make her a spy, I don't want that for her, I got roped into it, I'm not letting her into it either, at least not until she is old enough to make that decision on her own." Loid said
"Loid, I'm an assassin, she comes with me and she's at more of a risk for being killed! I'm not going to sit here and let that happen.." She told him, again shocking Loid.
"What are we going to do? She's not safe with either of us, and that orphanage she came from is a hell hole and I refuse to send her back to that dreadful place" Loid said.
"I think, we give up these stupid ass jobs, become a real family, forget about all of it, or at least be here for Anya, for her sake, we don't have to be together, I just don't want to lose her, or you really, but if you don't want to quit, I will take myself, and Anya out of the picture, I'm not saying you have to, I'm just letting you know what's at stake" Yor explained, then got up and walked to her room before he could answer, she figured he needed time to think. He didn't know what he wanted to do. At least not yet.
Loid went to pick Anya up from school, which he did and brought her home, the smile she always had when she saw the car and him standing beside it waiting for her. Loid never wanted to make that look disappear from that little girl's face, he knew what he was going to do. It took no convincing, If Yor quit being an assassin he can stop being a spy. He came home to Yor on the phone, screaming.
"Listen! I said I'm done! Don't call me again for another stupid assignment! I will turn you in! I'm not afraid of you anymore!" Then she hung up the phone. Anya walked to Yor, who didn't seem to notice them.
"Mama? Who was that?" She asked
"No one sweetie, okay just come here" Yor said, Anya hugged her and Yor hugged back. Loid smiled, there was no doubting it now. He got on the phone.
"Hey, sir, I will not be taking up the next *whispers so Anya can't hear him* mission *stops* I will be taking time for myself, my real self" He hung up the phone and looked at the two of them. Anya looked at the two, she already knew that they knew about each other's double lives. Anya looked to the ground beside her, deep thought.
"Mama, Chichi, would you guys ever give me up for a big secret?" Anya asked, looking at them
"Of course not, Anya, Why do you ask?" Loid asked, she looked at the two of them, ready to tell them.
