Chapter 1: The day you saved my life

Chapter Text

The sky rumbled, rain hitting your puffy red cheeks combined with the salty tears, that fell from your eyes. Your small body weak and roughed. Drenched from head to toe, a puddle of water under your bottom. You weep, calling out your mother's name, in frustration. Head burried deep with in your own knees.

"Mama! Mama! How could you leave me alone? Why didn't you take me with you? Where are you Mama!" Your sobs grow more and more into anger and confusion. Everything starts to turn fuzzy. In the corner of your eyes you see, what you believe is a young boy with red hair kneeling down beside you. You raise your head to him. You start to become dizzy and fall on him. Everything turns pitch black.

The small boy sits there unsure of what he should do. He looks at you worryingly, his lip quivers, as he gathers sand to lift you of the ground and take you somewhere safe. The red headed boy scared he might accidentally hurt you with his sand, cautiously took you home. You and the boy arrive in a small building. The kid slowly places you down of the couch surface, then exits the building.

You flutter your eyes before sitting up and rubbing your eyes. Looking around you notice, you are in a small apartment building. The little boy comes rushing into the building holding a bag. He kneels by the coffee table, pulling out some food from the bag. He hands you a bowl with porridge.

"Here, you should eat this. You must be hungry." He said in a worried tone. You cautiously take the porridge. You take a little bite before scarfing down the remainder of the food. You look towards him, noticing his eyes on you with a relieved expression. You look down and mumble a small "T-Thank you."

"It's alright, I'm just glad that the food was alright. So, what is your name?" The little red headed boy asked shyly. You look to him, hesitant to say your name. "Ahh, my name? My name is (y/n)." You look away, fidgeting with your fingers. "It's nice to meet you (y/n). Oh, my name Gaara."
__________
Present day ~

(Y/n)'s POV:

I look into the mirror, while I wash my face. Thinking of all the amazing memories, I've had in this house. Since the day that Gaara saved me and let me stay with him. The day we become friends and family. I smile at the thought of him. I grab a towel and wipe my face before heading done into the kitchen.

The room fill with the scent of Teriyaki. "What are you making, Gaara?" I say following the smell. "I'm cooking Teriyaki fried rice." He says in a dismissing tone, shooing me out of the kitchen. "Can I help?" I question confidently. He looks at me with terrified eyes, as if he were about to die. "You better not." He mumbles under his breath. I look at him confused not hearing him. "What did you say? I didn't hear." He turns his head to me and smiles. "No, I'll manage."

I stay at the dinning table, lost in thought. Tomorrow it was Gaara's birthday, I was wondering what I should get him. I know, I will cook something for him. My face forms a big grin. "What are you grinning about?" Gaara asks, while placing down a plate in front of me. Oh, it's nothing." I poke my tongue at him. "Well, if you say so. Oh, by the way, tomorrow we are gonna have lunch. I also have a suprise. So be there." He looks at me, knowing I would likely skip out. I nod my head in response before heading out the apartment to go train.

I've been practicing building up my chakra to create a glass shield, then I attack it until it breaks. It usually takes two of my extreme attacks, before it reverts back into sand. Which is like one average attack of any other Shinobi. I'm far to weak and need to get stronger, so that I can help and protect him. I owe Gaara my life. My eyes water, struggling to hold back my tears.

I open my eyes laying in the sand, the sky dark with a shine of moonlight. I must have feel asleep, it's late. I better head home. When I arrive home, I realise that Gaara wasn't there, so I take the opportunity to make some rice balls. I put on some rice and let it cook for a while, before taking the rice and moulding it into balls. I stopped when the rice could no longer be moulded, because it was too tough. When I was done I put them in the fridge and decided I would have a shower, before I go to sleep.

The hot water burning my skin, making my body tingle. I zone out. I hope that Gaara will like them. I smile, a faint blush covered my cheeks thinking about Gaara. He was always such a little cutie since we met and his heart, was so kind. I'm so glad I met him. I hop out of the shower my skin burning tomato red.

I grab my towel and wrapped it around myself. I look in the draws, no suitable clothing for sleeping in were there, which means they needed a wash. I grab a bralette and a pair of underwear. I change and then go to bed. I hope tomorrow will be a good day, I close my eyes and drift to sleep. Feeling happy and satisfied.
