Chapter Text

Since sixth grade of school Dream and George were inseparable. Dream was always a chatty-bubbly boy who seemed to never tire on public, had good friends and bad grades. George moved to Florida from London because of his fathers job and dew to his older sister starting college in USA. He came in a little shy and with an intriguing prominent British accent that some would make fun of in order to try and hide their fascination and jealousy. For a little while he even become a centre of attention and George will lie if he'd say he didn't like it.

The chemistry between two boys hit fast and hard. Dream already had a best friend, Nick, who they kindly call Sapnap, but it wasn't the same as it was with George. It always wasn't the same, as it was with George.
If you don't know George, you would easily confuse him as a shy introvert who is usually calm and doesn't talk much. And you will be heavily led on because this is highly untrue. George is all wide smiles, high-pitched, breathy laughs and hand gestures. He can be bratty and snarky, even, at times, when he felt like it.
You see, when people talked about Sapnap and Dream it was always this underlying understanding of their relationship as brotherhood, as if they are long lost and separated twin brothers. But George and Dreams dynamic is different. People would always joke that they are secret boyfriends, kiss-mocking noises were common at the lunch time in the cafeteria if you'd go past their table and the boys wouldn't even argue these accusations sometime.

Now they are seventeen and both are junior high-school students, this one last year when you can feel free from all the bads of the upcoming adulthood, exams, college. The last year to try enjoy these crumbs of so called "best years of your life".
Couple of years ago Dream joined a football team and once in a while play in home games. He doesnt have plans on continuing after school but still find it a great way of staying fit, finding new friends and for having an excuse to not have good grades, unlike George. George, on the other hand, was doing effortlessly good. He was lazy, he knows it, everybody knows it, he has problems with attention and can stay in bed all day but keeps getting good greads non the less. And Dream is a little bit jealous of it.

-How the hell you even do this, George?

-Do what? - the brunette cocks his head and looks at his friend with an unfocused, wondering gaze which he just managed to rip away from his phone.

-You spend hours in bed and never go to, like, library, but you are doing just great in all your classes! - Dream throws his hands in the air.

- Maybe im just the best - George says with falsely unamused expression and in low tone.

-Im not arguing with that but thats beside the point of how is it physically possible to not spend time on studying and be so good at it?

-Well, thats simply not true, i do study at home. If you don't see it doesn't mean its not happening - George looks at Dream a little bit offended but not really.

- I have to witness it myself. - Dream looks his best friend in the eyes with a serious expression on his face.

-Witness what? - George raises his eyebrows in confusion.

- You studying! - Dream exclaims and raises his shoulders as if he wasnt obvious.

-Me.. I- What? Why? - Georges face is the equivalent of confusion.

-Because its either you are the greatest magician, the worst lier, or an actual fucking genius! And if you either of those i need to learn how so i can do that myself! - Dreams serious expression turns into light laughter.

- You are a dumbass Dream, you know that? - George is actually laughing at this point.

-I didnt hear you say no though? - a little flurty smile occurs on blonds face and he leans closer to George, nudges him with a shoulder. George blushes slightly but responds:

-Okay, okay, you can come to my place after school today so we can study together. Are there any projects we can do?

Dream takes his second to recall all the previous classes and answers with:

-Actually, yes, i think we can share tasks on the biology thing. We have like the same exercises.

-Okay, then after school, my place, biology, no magic. Well, actually, there probably would be some magic - George laughs and stands from his sit. - Come on, the lunch break is almost over, you don't wanna be late to your class.

-Oh, fuck, definitely not for algebra, last time Ms. Woods made me say out loud the whole Multiplication Table! - Dream left his sit and threw a bag over his shoulder.

- You don't know what 5 times 5? - George asks sarcastically.

- That's the thing, every second grader knows it! Thats was so humiliating - Dream shrugs recalling the traumatic event.
