Work Text:
It had only been an hour since Morgan and Alex agreed to meet at one of their favorite restaurants. It was a little sit-down cafe.
Morgan had ordered a coffee and danish. But Alex had ordered french fries and chicken tenders. Going for the childlike aesthetic.
Not that Morgan minded. It was just out of the ordinary.
"Alex,"
Alex looked up. "Huh?" munching on a fry.
"I'm kinda upset,"
Alex frowned confused. "Why?" picking up another fry and taking a bite.
"My mother said when I grow up, I can be anyone I want to be,"
Alex nods slowly; their mother told them the same thing. "Okay..."
"Turns out that's not true,"
Alex scowls, their eyebrows knit together, and they grab their soda, taking a sip. "It's not?"
Morgan shakes his head. "Identity theft is a crime,"
Alex crosses their arms. "That's not funny, Morgan,"
"You can't be who you want to be, Alex, they must be themselves,"
Alex shakes their head returning to their meal.
"You try to take their identity then.. uh, you get in trouble,"
Alex rolls their eyes stealing the danish Morgan hasn't even touched.
"The cops will be coming,"
Alex frowns. "The cops? What?"
"Yeah," Morgan nods along. "Wee Ooo Wee Ooo,"
Alex snorts and ends up coughing on the danish.
"Like those people, they'll be coming, Alex,"
Alex is laughing now.
"They'll say, 'Hey Alex, your not Mrs. Maggie Smith!' Give back her credit card!"
Alex doesn't respond, laughing too hard.
"But Alex, my mother said I can be Mrs. Maggie Smith if I wanted to be,"
"Aha, aha. Morgan, it's not funny," Alex finally spits out.
"But Alex, Mrs. Maggie Smith gets good discounts, and she eats at five with blue hair,"
Alex sits up and wipes any crumbs off their shoulders, snickering.
"I'm hungry at five sometimes, and I like blue hair,"
Alex sighs.
"What?"
Alex shakes their head.
"I want to be Maggie,"
