“Flowers, Nick?” the Broker asked with a smirk. “You an’ Perry are doing flowers now?”
He nodded. “We are. What can I do for you?”
They tapped their fingers on the counter, eyes darting around, and the faintest hint of lilies touched the air. “Calla lilies. Easter lilies,” they said at last.
Nicholas grinned at them, nodding to walk with him. “I have a bouquet, of course.”
“Thank you. How much—,” they asked, and he waved them off hurriedly.
“A gift for an old friend, especially at this time of the year.”
They smiled, soft and grieving. “Thank you, Nicholas.”
