Okkotsu Yuta squirmed in his seat, broad shoulders shifting slightly from left to right to show off how uncomfortable he felt. It had been three hours since his blind date was supposed to show up. He had just been sitting there, staring at the menu for three hours. Okkotsu wanted to just slink away and go back home, putting the whole embarrassing situation behind him. Maybe even use this to persuade Rika to not send him on anymore blind dates. He knew she worried about him but at times it seemed to Okkotsu that he was better off alone. Every single blind date orchestrated by Rika had gone wrong. The only one that didn’t end in disaster was when he was set up with Zenin Maki, who ended up being a lesbian who had no interest on him beyond how much he benched. Okkotsu might’ve absolutely embarrassed himself before her by lamely flirting then realizing he had no chance but he did gain a new friend.
Just as Okkotsu was gathering enough courage to stand up and leave, a body plopped itself down on the seat in front of him. The man sitting before him left him breathless. He was shorter than Okkotsu, slimmer too but with some subtle muscles that one could only spot if anyone was gawking like he was. He had platinum blonde hair that stopped just above his violet eyes. He wore a black mask that contrasted beautifully with the soft looking beige t-shirt with an interesting design on it that he was wearing. Okkotsu’s eyes caught sight of light glinting against the plethora of piercings on the man’s ears. He dragged his eyes back, only for them to meet the alluring violet eyes which held a glint of mischief now.
The man moved his elegant hands smoothly and with practiced ease, Okkotsu could even spot the barely noticeable sparkly purple nail polish with how long he admired them. He then realized the man was signing and he needed to pay attention.
“Huh?” he murmured unintelligible, almost groaning to himself at how pathetic that sounded.
“I saw you earlier when I was heading to class and then I still see you here after my two hour lab so I decided to swoop in,” the man signed, eyes crinkling up in what Okkotsu interpreted as a smile.
“Uh why?” Okkotsu questioned then added quickly, “Besides the fact that I got stood up and probably look pathetic,” he fixed his varsity jacket awkwardly.
“Easy,” he signed, “Only an idiot would stand up a hunk like you and I am nothing but an opportunist,” he finished his sentence by throwing a flirty look at Okkotsu. The raven haired man felt his cheek start to burn up and he tried to cup his hand over his reddening cheeks. “Also, because I’ve been dying to drop by this cute American themed restaurant but my friends kept blowing me off,” he signed, then rested his cheek against his fist.
Okkotsu let out a chuckle, one hand coming up to hold his chest. “Well that’s a very valid reason, my uncle recommended this place,” he paused, “Not that I go to him for dating advice,” Okkotsu internally flinched at how fake that sounded. “Um what’s your name?”
“Inumaki,” he signed, looking from under his eyelashes, “Inumaki Toge,” Inumaki leaned forward, “Yours?” he looked at Okkotsu expectantly.
“Oh! Um! Okkotsu Yuta!” he exclaimed, smiling widely at Inumaki. “That’s uh my name,” he nodded. Inumaki tugged his mask down revealing the matching piercings on his soft-looking cheeks, the gentle slope of his button nose and the pretty pink pouty lips Okkotsu just wanted to sketch into his eyelids.
“Okkotsu Yuta?” Inumaki purred with a teasing smile. “Pretty name for a pretty face,” he signed. “So should we order up?”
Okkotsu fumbled, pushing the menu onto Inumaki’s hands with a smile.
“What about you?” Inumaki asked with a soft tilt of his head.
“I just spent three hours looking at that, trust me I know what I want by now,” that pulled a soft giggle from Inumaki and Okkotsu visibly melted.
The waiter approached them and they both ordered, Okkotsu translating for Inumaki since the waiter didn’t seem to know any sign language. They ate together, getting to know each other throughout the spontaneous date. Okkotsu insisted on paying and after a quick back and forth, he convinced Inumaki. They walked side by side as they exited the cozy restaurant.
“How about next time I pay?” offered Inumaki, smirking up at Okkotsu.
“N-next time?” he asked, face flushing red and he could feel the little hearts floating around his head.
“Yes, this was just a taste test. I need to take you on an actual date,” Inumaki signed with a gentle smile.
“Oh of course!” Okkotsu fumbled to take his phone out and handed it to Inumaki, bending at the waist and raising his phone in offering. Inumaki chuckled, taking the phone and typing away. Okkotsu stood back up and Inumaki handed him the phone back.
“Text me,” Inumaki signed, then winked, turning around and walking away with a swing of his hips.
Okkotsu almost fainted, finally processing everything that had happened. He turned around, almost tripping over his feet with a chuckle. Okkotsu had a giddy smile on his face, ready to shoot Inumaki a text and plan their real deal date.
