Chapter Text
In this world, the elements were the religions and the religions were dedicated to the elements. The Elements were their gods, their salvation and whom all would swear their servitude and faith to. Although they claim only to be Elemental Kings, formidable in their own respective elements yet they were also the core that holds the very nature of the world together. Thus, it was not wrong to call them gods.
There were a total known of 6 elements but only 5 were worshipped; Water, Earth, Fire, Air and Light. Light somehow being crowned as the superior element by the dwellers of this world and was even more precious with how it is a rare affinity. The other four were more common among the people though it once again lies in their capability and innate talent to wield full power of the element they were blessed with.
Thus, like gods, there were religions that were created to worship them. With cathedrals (formally called Churches) set up, even the Churches held formidable power enough to be regarded as an individual nation itself. Their powers were also justified, as only those chosen to serve their gods can increase their elemental powers through prayers and devotion of faith. While only the common people are only able to wield the power they were born with, a limited capacity.
Despite the 5 commonly known elements, 6 temples were built in 6 kingdoms, each that were located at different territories that circled the world. Each built on or facing their respective terrain. Water in the Sea Kingdom of Atlantis, Earth in the Forest Kingdom of Gregor, Air in the Mountain Kingdom of Aeria, Fire in the Desert Kingdom of Aur, Light where the Sun would be at the highest point in the sky; Kingdom of Lucis, and Dark in the territory of miasma corroded land and dark forests; Continent of Darkyeon .
Yes, Dark was the last element. The element that was scorned as unworthy and sinful, a blasphemy towards the rest of the elements. Yet despite this, the 5 elements had all sent down an oracle to their respective churches at the beginning age of worship to have the sixth temple built.
In the Kingdom of Zalor however, the kingdom that is surrounded by those 6 territories has all 6 cathedrals built. You could say it is the point where all would meet. The 6 Churches built at the capital, not as grand and large as their original one but it was still remarkable on its own. The six Churches faced each other in a circle, often the main attraction of the kingdom as Zalor played a strategic and important role. Though that’s a chapter for another day.

Time was but a moving entity, one that does not and will not stop even in the face of nature itself. Grand black robes were blown by the wind as a figure wielded his staff that had six large glowing stones. The wind was howling, like a cry of despair, an anguish that could not be understood. With a dark light glinting in his eyes, he raised his staff, a flow of power getting channeled into the stones and layers of magic circles appeared above him.
Each circle had a complex drawing, combination of language and shapes to show how complex the magic was. Yet the confidence and determination in his eyes were not diminished. He was silent as the circles rotated above his head, nine layers of them glowing and rotating slowly as if awaiting for the man’s command. As his eyes narrowed at the ant-sized looking army before the cliff he stood on, he slammed his staff down and the nine circles descended like holy judgement, landing on the millions of armies that were marching forward to their demise.
He closed his eyes as the cries of agony and pain filled his ears which were only muffled by the howling of the wind.
