Work Text:

“Iida are you okay?”

Shinsou still doesn’t quite fully understand how is it that he is now having his lunch with the so-called ‘Dekusquad’, but at this point, it is almost a daily occurrence so he doesn’t really dare to question it.

“Yes, don’t worry too much about it Todoroki.”

“But you don’t look well.”

Todoroki’s passive remarks that sometimes can be seen as something aggressive are probably one of the highlights of hanging out with them. But now that Todoroki mentioned he realizes that Iida in fact does not look well.

“Todoroki is right Iida. Are you sick?” Asui’s voice has that tone that she isn’t willing to accept any lies, and combined with all of their eyes over him Iida condo nothing but confess.

“I do confess that I’m not feeling really well.” Ochako opens her mouth, but Iida quickly talks before she can say anything. “But I’m being honest when I say is nothing serious, it’s just a headache.”

“A headache?” Besides him Midoriya talks, and one of his hands grabs his bag.

“Yes, but it’s just because I’m in need of a new pair of glasses, but because of some problems they were delayed. And until then I need to do with these.”

“Here, Iida.” From his yellow backpack Midoriya takes out a small black bag, he empties its content on the table, and a lot of different pills and other medicines falls.

“These,” He grabs one of the pill packets and hands them over to Iida, “they are for headaches.”

“Thanks Midoriya.”

“Whoa Deku! Those are a lot of medicines.” Ockako’s eyes move from one place to the other, taking in all of the medicines.

“I know, but it’s something that my mom has always insisted that we do. And her bag is actually bigger!”

“Well,” it’s still weird, talking and everyone listening, “carrying around a first aid kit is not a bad thing.”

Besides him Midoriya starts to put everything in the bag again, but he can hear a small ‘thanks’ murmured.

“Tsuyu? Are you ok?”

He was coming out of one of the gyms when he crossed paths with Midoriya, Ochako and Asui.  The four of them then walked together towards the dorms, when their light conversation was interrupted by Midoriya.

“My leg hurts a little, to be honest. I landed wrong in one of my jumps in training.”

To him, Asui looks well, if not a little bit tired after her training, howMidoriya noticed he doesn’t know. But now that Midoriya knows about her state he wastes no time in taking out his black bag out of the duffel bag that he takes to the gym.

“Here, it will help for a while but please go to Recovery Girl just in case.”

“Thanks Deku, and don’t worry I will.”

“Todoroki? The bell will ring at any moment now and you haven’t eaten yet.”

Iida’s voice is unusually soft, concern clear in it, but even when being talked to Todoroki shows almost no reaction. He has been quiet but there were some days in which Todoroki simply didn’t feel like talking so Shinsou had thought none of it.

But Iida is right, right in front of him Todoroki’s bowl is still full, and now that he pays more attention Todoroki barely manages to keep his eyes open, and every few seconds is head goes down as his eyes close.

“Tired,” he murmurs, ”didn’t sleep, had to finish english paper.”

“You still should try to eat, and an empty stomach will only make things worse for you.”

“Headache.” Todoroki murmurs once again, totally ignoring what Ochako just said.

“Here.” Without him even realizing Midoriya had already taken out the medicine.

“Thanks.”

“No problem, but still, just as Uraraka said please try to eat something.”

Activities that require the participation of teams made of students from different curses are amongst Shinsou’s ‘most hated things that U.A does.’

It’s for a minor festival, one that the public outside the institution is not invited to, but as always with the whole ‘Plus Ultra’, and all of U.A general extravaganza, it’s still a big thing.

Lucky him, his team is in charge of moving and organizing, so he doesn’t have to participate in any of the other events.

It’s still awkward, from his classroom there are only 3 more people and he barely knows their names. And aside from them, the only other person he knows is Midoriya, but because when it comes to carrying things and moving them around is where Midoriya excels, his chances to be with the green head have been zero.

He has been assigned to check on the storage boxes from past festivals to look for things that may be of utility to the team that will present a play.

He has been at it for hours already, and if the groans that come from the others doing the same mean something, then he isn’t the only one already tired.

“Holy fuck, my back is killing me.”

He doesn’t know the boy, but from what he has been hearing he thinks his name is Nakajima, from the support course, he thinks, maybe.

He rises from where he’s crouched down over some boxes and he does some stretches, his back and other bones crack, but even after that there’s still discomfort on his face when he moves.

“Would you like some painkillers?”

As if summoned by someone in need of one of the many medicines he carries with him Midoriya appears at the door of the storage room.

“Dou you have some? Please yes, I feel like my back will fall at any minute.”

Summoning it out of nowhere (no seriously, for where did he take it out, Midoriya isn’t currently carrying a bag???) he takes out his medicine bag, and as if he were a man starved Nakajima quickly dry swallows the pills.

“It can take some minutes but very soon the pain will go away. But still, once you finish I would recommend you to rest.”

“Thank, you, thank you so much. You’re an angel!”

Shinsou is dying, Shinsou is dying and he doesn’t know if he’s glad that he’s currently alone and none one will see his last pathetic minutes on this earth, or if he’s annoyed that he’s alone and when death inevitably comes for him, his body will be left alone and abandoned to rot until someone finds it.

His body feels as if it were made of lead, heavy and dragging him down, but his legs feel like uncooked spaghetti that will crack at the smallest amount of force applied.

He had thought he had gotten used to Aizawa’s training, but now, with one foot in his grave he comes to the realization that he had been nothing but a fool, darkness descending over him he gives up and the next thing he knows is the cold embrace of death.

“Hitoshi? Are you okay?”

An angel! Descending over from the heavens, oh so high above!

Death abates, and life slowly returns to him, darkness disappears, and light makes its way towards him, slowly he opens his eyes, green curls and emerald eyes, star-shaped freckles, and a halo of light surrounding him.

“Why are you lying on the floor?”

His voice is salvation, and for some moments he thinks of himself unworthy of the concern that appears over his emerald eyes, ah, but aren’t all of the lowly mortals at the end always undeserving of the love of the angels?

“Was your training that heavy?”

Angles, truly beings above humans, for this one to be able to know the motive of his grievances without him even uttering a word.

“Do you need help getting up?”

He’s easily brought back from the cold embrace in which had found himself, he’s brought to his legs once again, but his body betrays him, and down, down, down he goes once again.

But his fall is interrupted, strong arms refusing to let him plummet down, and salvation is brought to him.

---

When he comes back to himself he’s sitting on one of the benches outside of the gym, Midoriya has a water bottle waiting for him.

“Painkiller?” He has his black bag in his hands already, just waiting for his confirmation.

“Yes please”

“Sorry about the day being ruined.”

They had told him, he was aware of the risks, but still, having their outing interrupted by a villain attack was a little bit unexpected.

Midoriya ’villain magnet’ Izuku, indeed.

“Don’t worry about it, these things tend to happen.”

They’re currently sitting in the back of All Might’s car, the man, who had been the one to chaperone them, currently still talking with the police officers and giving his report.

Besides him, Midoriya makes a small noise of discomfort and he notices that Midoriya’s hands are shaking.

“Are you okay?”

A small whine leaves Midoriya’s lips and the trembling then also begins to extend to his arms.

“Don’t worry, it’s just the old injuries acting up, nothing serious.”

“If you say so.”

Midoriya lets out an exhale and the trembling stops a little, he goes to grab his bag, but it’s clear to see that whatever he’s looking for isn’t here.

“Oh no, no, no, no, it’s not here.”

“What is not there?” Midoriya empties the bag whatever he searches for still isn’t there.

“My medicine bag. I must have dropped it when we were running from the villain.”

Slowly and defeated Midoriya starts to put everything in his bag once again. During his distraction, Shinsou grabs his bag and quickly finds what he was searching for.

“Here.” Midoriya looks at him and with trembling hands grabs the small blue bag, he opens it and a copy of the contents of his medicine bag greets him.

Midoriya laughs and there’s a small ‘thanks.’

“No problem.”
