Jason fidgeted with his napkin. Him and Leo have gone on dates before (even if a few were fabricated by Hera), but the anxiety of not making the other boy happy stuck around on every one. What if he wasn’t good enough? What if Leo decided that Jason was too boring to stay around and ran away again? The blonde was taken out of his thoughts by Leo’s warm hand being placed on his.
“Something wrong? I know I’m awesome, but you don’t need to be so nervous,” the younger boy joked. He played it off as a funny comment, but Jason knew him well enough to detect the concern in Leo’s eyes.
“Yeah, I’m just…thinking about things, you know?” He was never as good at lying as Leo was, but the shorter boy nodded and let it go anyways.
“Hm. Well, if anything's wrong you can always tell me. Okay?” Leo’s voice took on a serious tone, something that Jason nearly never heard from him.
“Of course, Firefly.”
That got a blush to spread across Leo’s face. He always loved nicknames, and Jason was happy to make them for him.
Leo hummed and turned his head to the side, looking out into the slow sunset. Jason watched him carefully, appreciating the scene entirely.
Leo’s face was framed by his gently curling hair, the hues of the sun highlighting it perfectly. Flecks of orange and gold played in his chocolate-coloured eyes, mixing together in a hypnotizing dance. His smooth skin glowed in the dimming light.
Beautiful.
Jason mentally thanked Apollo for giving him such a stunning sight. Leo seemed relaxed as he gazed off into the distance, unaware of his awestruck boyfriend right next to him.
“It’s going to get dark soon. I doubt this place stays open too late, we should go.”
The taller couldn't help the small stirring of disappointment in his chest at those words, he would much rather stay like this forever. But he had to agree with Leo’s words - the small café they were staying at would be closing soon, according to the sign outside. A shame, he really wanted today to last a bit longer. Or maybe it didn't have to end just yet…
“Well, let’s go. I want to show you something.”
Leo turned back to face Jason, curiosity flickering in his eyes. Jason gave him a small smile and stood up.
“Come on, it’s a surprise.”
Leo pouted. It was probably meant to seem angry, but Jason just found it cute.
“Aww, fine. Whatever it is, it can’t be as amazing as Commander Toolbelt!”
Jason offered Leo his hand. Leo took it, the touch warming Jason to his core, and they left.

Jason led Leo through the forest, listening as Leo rambled about how building the Argo II was going. Jason never was too interested in engineering, but anytime Leo was talking he just had to listen (it also helped that he had the cutest expression on his face while rambling). He was pretty sad when they finally found the spot.
“-And Nyssa said that I did it wrong, but I double checked it and…” Leo trailed off as he took in the sight in front of him.
The path they were following stopped at the edge of a cliff. Below, the lights of the city sparkled, but they were no match for the stars above. Jason could recognize quite a few constellations (training from the other camp, most likely), but the real show-stopper was Artemis’ doing. The full moon shined its brilliance down on the land, covering it in a sheet of silver. The grass gave the impression of being covered in frost, and the trees’ leaves rustled quietly in the light wind.
Jason could hear Leo’s breath catch in his throat as he looked to the sky.
“...It’s beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you.”
Leo elbowed him gently. “Hey, I’m the one who makes corny jokes here!”
Jason just gave him a grin. “Who said it was a joke?”
It was hard to see in the moonlight, but he thought he saw Leo’s eyes widen in surprise. Either way, Leo decided to ignore what he said and sat down. Jason joined him on the ground and put his hand over the other’s smaller one.
“This is great, Jason. Thank you. Really.” His voice was quiet.
“If it's for you, it's nothing.”
Jason felt Leo crawl closer to him. The heat that Leo gave off was enough to warm them both, though Jason believed that just having him there was warmth enough. He heard a whisper come from the boy next to him. He had heard those same simple words so many times before, but every time they never failed to make him feel like he was floating.
…
“I love you.”
…
“I love you too.”
