Chapter Text

Jude didn’t think it mattered who people loved. Some dudes liked dudes. Some chicks liked chicks. Some liked both. Jude guessed he could be considered the third one, but really it was more he just didn’t care. Girl, guy, a chair, it didn’t matter to him. If they were chill, Jude might fall in love.

Falling in love with a chair only happened to him once. He had a few different crushes and one serious girlfriend for awhile.

Then he fell in love with his best friend Jonesy. And that sort of stuff mattered to Jonesy.

Jonesy wasn’t as confident as he tried to make others believe him to be. He was anxious, insecure and scared. The only reason he flirted with girls was to bury his feelings for guys deep inside him. He thought it was wrong for him to like dudes.

It mattered to Jonesy what other people thought of him.

So if Jonesy only kissed him when they were absolutely alone, Jude got that. If Jonesy only held his hand when nobody could possibly see, Jude was cool with that. If Jonesy only said “I love you” back when he thought Jude couldn’t hear, Jude didn’t mind. If Jonesy bottled his feelings when what he was taught to be “masculinity” suffocated him, well, Jude could deal with that. Anything for Jonesy.
