Chapter Text
You’re the kind of person who chooses to spend an extra five minutes to search up where to find something in a grocery store than to ask a staff member where it actually is. It’s not that you didn’t like social interaction — you actually didn’t mind it, as long as it was with someone you knew — it was more the fact that you were incredibly shy. Throughout middle school and high school, you were ‘adopted’ by extroverts who would push you out of your comfort zone. Sakura just so happened to be the adoptive extrovert while Aneko stayed forever the mom friend. They were both sociable, at least, more than you ever were.
Akaashi is the kind of person who rolls his eyes at the idea of going to parties and chooses to go to the library instead. To be completely honest, Akaashi was a kind person who would talk when spoken to and held the ability to continue a simple and polite conversation — even if it does mean an awkward departure after the conversation ends randomly. It’s not that he was shy, it was more the fact that he would rather keep his mouth closed unless it was important to get his point across. At that point, people know that what he says is going to be valuable. Either that, or it was a sarcastic and passive aggressive insult that was executed in the most polite but savage way. Bokuto was of course on the receiving end of most of his torments much to his chagrin.
Saturdays, for you, came in routine. It’s a day where you can just rewind and not worry about the storm that is Sakura and Aneko. So, while Sakura was in the dorm from drinking too much and Aneko stayed to take care of her, you would find your way to the back of the library where the sun would shine directly onto your spot and would light up the book you were reading.
That’s what you would do, until you realised that there was an unknown person sitting in your spot.
“Um…” You fiddle with the book in your hands and the boy looks up, gunmetal eyes staring into yours.
You flush, averting your gaze to the floor because he was probably the most attractive guy you’ve ever seen.
“Lord of the Rings?”
“Huh?” The question goes through one ear and out the other, and you were ready to bury yourself out of pure embarrassment. “Uh, yeah…”
A small smile rests on his face, “It’s good. The story line and descriptions are great.”
“You’ve read it?” You can barely breathe out the question, but there was something about this guy that made you feel comfortable. “My friends don’t really bother with books…”
“Mine too,” He chuckles, and your ears heat up at the sound. “Oh, please sit. I’m Akaashi, by the way.”
You smile, taking a seat. “I’m (L/N). It’s nice to meet you, Akaashi-san.”
