Flocks of Birds

Summary:

A hint of arrowstorm before angst hits into FireStorm.. this is my little "poetic" take on this trio of agents..
This was written in a moment of weakness when I felt my little ship fading away... today I share it with you.

I have never written poems either so this might feel a little too generic and boring lol but yeah

Work Text:

Hunter joined the PROTOCOL
He was told there were best of the best
A man of principles he was
Standing true to every test

Soon a little wind-bunny
Also joined the fray
Quite a distinguishing personality from his
With her daggers she made her enemies pray

Incomplete introductions
And a few team-building sessions through
Impressive aim got recognized
A friendship quickly brew

From sharing a table in the canteen
To snickering over inside jokes in the lobbies
The duo quickly came closer
Especially with cooking as one of their hobbies

From Russian delicacies to Korean feasts
Recipes got exchanged
A new experience for the naive owl boy
His heart started feeling strange

A month had passed together
And their duo had no stopping
When a charming boy of fire
Came into the protocol popping

A sweet beautiful man
Attractive and adorable all the same
He quickly became a part of their group
An impressive trio had made their claim

From missions together
To having interesting hangouts
The introvert owl held well
Among his fellow loud scouts

Everything was great
And his feelings he was getting more aware
He started catching himself looking at the wind girl more often
Whenever they shared times among the air

Was his heart dumb?
Or was he genuinely falling?
A little confused, but soon aware
His heart had found a calling

He felt strongly for her
Everything felt so strange
He knew he had to let her know
Because even in her he felt a change

Having his own idea to confess
He prepared a Korean delicacy
His little crush had taught him the recipe
He was hoping it wasn't messy

Dressing up well, combing his hair,
Beautiful evening, he prepared the dish in his room
Serving the dish oh so beautifully
He headed towards her room

A little disappointed to not find her there
He shook away the negative thought
Recalling one of their favorite hangout place
For the kitchen, next, he sought

Seemingly empty, dimly lit
He quietly opened the door
Using his vision scanned around
Gasping at the image that shook his core

He witnessed his two best buds
Their lips deeply entangled
Breath stuck, body frozen,
Weight became heavier of the plate he handled

Dropping the meal to the floor
He hastily started to rush out
Obviously the noise startled the lovebirds
What happened there they doubt

Leaving the plates on the floor
Owl flew the scene
For the winds, The dish felt familiar
She realized who she had to convene

The birds reached the owl's nest
checking on him regarding the incident
He said seeing them together was a surprise
To create that mess wasn't what he meant

The birds tried to explain -
Fraternization rule, can't do this openly
Rushing the conversation ahead
The owl wished them luck solemnly

Promising not to let out their secret
He took his farewell quickly
Warm water hitting his body
His emotions came out swiftly

The night ended with an overflow of emotions
It was a new day
He didn't feel like getting out
The image of them still in his head plastered away

Avoiding breakfasts,
and going to eat at different times
The owl started nesting far away
From the lovebirds' chimes

But how long could he stay like this
How many excuses he could smother
They were his best friends after all
Fire, he even considered a brother

Sleepless nights, solo missions
He gulped down his feelings on a drunken night
He wouldn't dare do anything stupid
To stop the lovers' flight

Maybe love wasn't meant for him
But he couldn't wall them away for it
Stakes were bigger than his petty emotions
There was still a world at threat

Going back to them,
They welcomed him back with open arms
Just an introvert taking a break right?
The trio found again its charms

Was he a third wheel for them?
Or were they a bunch of best friends
A question he always avoided
He showered them with support and care to no ends

His newfound love for the two love birds
He became a stronger part of the crew
Their trio had limitless flights
He looked forward to a chapter anew

Notes:
