a field of love

Summary:

“If I—I know—” Chuuya stops again, letting his voice die out with a soft shake of his head, “Well, you got what you wanted. You always said that you were sick of my teasing. I’m speechless.

“Your beauty has stolen all my words away.” Chuuya cradles Akutagawa cheek in his hand, “And your heart has stolen the rest of me.”

Work Text:

Chuuya puts a flower in his hair and Akutagawa feels beautiful like he never has before. Chuuya cups his cheek in his hand, warm against his skin and Akutagawa does not stop his instinctual reaction to pull himself close. He yields to Chuuya’s warmth like sunflower does to the sun, letting the executive hold his face in his hands.

His love pulls him forward, face to his chest and Akutagawa complies. Chuuya smells like coffee and flowers, fitting seeing as they are in a field of flowers right now. Akutagawa wraps his arms around the shorter man, settling on his lap. His eyes flutter closed when Chuuya places a kiss on the crown of his head.

“Chuuya-san…” Akutagawa breathes as Chuuya lifts his head from his chest. He still keeps his eyes closed, heightening his anticipation for the kiss he knew was coming.

Chuuya’s lips are soft and his kiss is insistent. He leans into him with every kiss, hungry and forceful and it’s everything Akutagawa loves about the mafia executive. Chuuya’s tongue parts his lips and Akutagawa eagerly lets him inside. Every touch sends his nerves alight, burning him from the inside.

One of Chuuya’s hands move to his waist, pushing up the edge of his shirt. The contact makes him shudder and Akutagawa doesn’t try to stop himself from wanting more. His other hand turns his head to deepen their kiss. Akutagawa presses closer to his lover, tongues sliding against each other until he’s out of breath and has to pull away.

“You’re so fucking pretty when you blush.” Chuuya remarks. Akutagawa rolls his eyes. He feels his face burning but he’s too used to Chuuya’s compliments to react too much, “Oi. I mean it.” Chuuya’s hand cups his cheek lovingly, “Sometimes I can’t believe it.”

“Me neither.” Akutagawa admits. If someone asked him for the order of events that led to him dating Chuuya, he wouldn’t be able to answer. Did it start when Chuuya took over his training, or when Chuuya started paying attention to his emotions after he shattered when Dazai left? Or has Chuuya been watching for a while and Akutagawa has been too blinded to see it?

It doesn’t matter now. Akutagawa thinks, shelving those thoughts as Chuuya lifts Akutagawa’s head so they look in each other’s eyes. His eyes are a clear, bright blue and they have an irresistible spark of life. Akutagawa watches a smirk grow on Chuuya’s face and he is quick to cover it up with his own lips.

Chuuya chuckles into his mouth and it makes Akutagawa smile in return. This kiss is short and chaste. It doesn’t set him ablaze like the last one but it is no less enjoyable.

When they pull apart, Akutagawa cannot pull his face back to neutrality. The smile is painted onto his face and it feels as natural as the sun beaming down on them.

With an airy laugh, Akutagawa grabs the collar of Chuuya’s shirt and pulls him forward as he falls backwards into the bed of flowers. A few crunch beneath his weight as he falls back onto them, making the scent of flowers grow ever stronger.

Chuuya plants his arms on the ground to keep from crushing up, but he looks dazed.

“What?” Akutagawa asks, voice light with laughter, “Is something wrong? You’re looking at me strange—” Chuuya kisses him again. And again and again until Akutagawa forgets which way is up and how to be proper and where to puts his hands and why they shouldn’t be doing this in the open—he simply kisses his love back with the same amount of passion Chuuya is pouring into him.

“I love you.” Chuuya breathes into him between kisses.

I love you too. Akutagawa says in the way he kisses back.

After…a significant amount of time they break apart. Chuuya pushes away from him, leaving Akutagawa lax against the bed of flowers. Every second apart is a chore and Akutagawa practices extreme restraint to not pull Chuuya down for another kiss.

I actually don’t see any reason why not… He admits to himself and right before he can kiss Chuuya again, his love’s attention is stolen away.

“What?” Akutagawa asks.

Chuuya plucks a flower from the ground, “Stay still for a moment.” Akutagawa gives him a quizzical look until Chuuya places the flower behind his ear. The stem has been warmed by the sun and the petals were soft, tickling the edge of his eye, “If I—I know—” Chuuya stops again, letting his voice die out with a soft shake of his head, “Well, you got what you wanted. You always said that you were sick of my teasing. I’m speechless.

“Your beauty has stolen all my words away.” Chuuya cradles Akutagawa cheek in his hand, “And your heart has stolen the rest of me.”

“You are so sappy.” Akutagawa remarks as he pulls his love close. Chuuya snorts under his breath in response.

“I can be sappier.”

“Go for it.” Chuuya’s smile is blinding as he pulls up more flowers, sitting on his heels as he manipulates the flowers around his long fingers. They’re skilled, just like every part of Chuuya but skill does nothing if you don’t know what to do with it. Case in point: the ragged and uneven flower chain that Chuuya was struggling to make.

“It’s easier if you don’t try to braid all of it at once. See?” Rashomon reaches out, placing a bunch of flowers in Akutagawa’s hands. He sits up so he can braid them together, starting with two and working his way down. It’s been years since he’s done this last but the memories linger in his muscles and he feels a soft, nostalgic smile on his lips. Orphans did not have anything to their name, but no one claimed the dandelions that grew between cracks in the concrete.

The flowers were like them in a way.

“I feel like I should have watched a tutorial beforehand.” Chuuya says as Akutagawa holds up a completed crown.

“Well if you need another one, I can simply show you again.” Akutagawa places the crown on Chuuya’s head, adjusting it so it frames his head. The colors clash horrifically with Chuuya’s hair but he knows that this image in front of him is one that he never wants to forget.

Notes:
