Coming Together

Summary:

It starts when Robin tells Tim to go home. He was going to, honestly. But then he hears a child calling for help and... well now there's just a huge mess.

Or how all the Birdie's make their way to the nest and find each other.

Notes:

So, this is going to be a long story. Yay. I haven't done one of those in a while. So, comment if you have any suggestions or anything. I hope y'all enjoy!

Chapter 1: Tim finds a baby

Chapter Text

Jason's  Pov

Swinging through Gotham never gets old. It feels like flying, and it's so amazing. When the wind flies in your face you can feel the rush. The butterflies that erupt in your stomach when you swoop downwards then back up again.

 It's like magic.

That's how Jason felt, grappling through the sky. It felt wonderful. He couldn't help but let out a giggle. He felt giddy. He hadn't been on patrol in a week, he had started school back up and needed time to adjust to that. Or that's what Bruce said, and Jason agreed. He wanted to be at the top of his game in class. He loved learning and the work wasn't actually that bad.

Still, it felt good to be back.

He smirked to himself when he saw the flash of a camera. It seems the baby stalker was back. Jason laughed. About a month ago he had caught a kid taking pictures.

"Of the sky." He had said.

 "Can I see?" Jason asked.

 "Uh no." He replied.

It was obvious the kid was lying. So, what was he really taking pictures of. That's when the light went off again. Jason blinked. He turned his head. Was the kid taking pictures of...him? Jason smiled. It seemed he had a fan. Of course, everyone loved Robin. But to go out and take pictures? Jason didn't know what to feel. He felt happy at the same time as worried. Where the hell was this kid's parents?

 Maybe he should ask.

Jason turned his direction to the rooftop where the flash came. The kid was looking around at the sky. Hoping for a glimpse of him maybe? He stood right behind him before clearing his throat. The kid jumped. He titled forward and Jason sprang into action. He quickly grabbed the back of the kid's shirt and yanked him back. He fell with an 'oomph.' Jason winced. He should've announced his presence better.

The kid blinked up at him. "Robin? What are you doing here?"

Jason grinned. "Could ask you the same question squirt."

The kid grumbled at the nickname before answering. "I'm just taking pictures."

"Yeah, of the sky." Jason waved his hand in dismissal before snatching the camera.

"HEY!" The kid screeched. Jason flipped through the pictures. All of him and a few with Batman.

"Damn these are good squirt." Jason remarked before handing the camera back to him.

He grabbed the camera and hugged it close to his chest. He wore a pout on his face and if that wasn't the most adorable thing Jason had ever saw.

"You really think so?" The kid asked, nervously.

Jason nodded. "I know so. I look fab, you got my good side. One grievance."

Jason leaned in really close. "Why are you out here at night? Alone?"

The kid tensed before shrugging. "How else am I supposed to get the pictures?"

Jason mentally face palmed. The logic of this child. "Okay, how bout we make a deal? I'll take a selfie with you, and you go back home and right to bed. Deal?"

The kid considered it before nodding. Jason grabbed him in a hug and smiled for the picture. When the shutter went off the kid inspected it.

"It looks good. Thank you!" He looked up with stars in his eyes.

"Your welcome kid. Now straight to bed."

He nodded seriously and started to climb down from the roof. Satisfied Jason leapt off and swung away. He felt like he handled that really well.

 Tim's Pov

He got a selfie with Robin. His hero! Tim felt like dancing. This was the best night of his life. He was totally going to go out again. He knew now he needed to find better hiding spots so Jason wouldn't catch him.

He finally made it down and started to walk towards home when a noise stopped him. A sniffle of a baby. Tim looked around. He didn't see anybody.

Another noise came. This time a sob. Tim started to search up and down the alley for the baby. He found it behind the dumpster.

He wasn't exactly a baby, but still a small child for sure. He was curled up in a ball and muttering in a different language. At least Tim thought it was a different language. He couldn't really understand the child.

"Uh hi." Tim said. The baby jumped. His eyes narrowed.

 "Go 'way." He demanded.

"Are you lost?" Tim asked instead.

He shook his head before stopping, then nodding slowly. His stomach rumbled and he broke into sobs again.

Tim was very unsure of what to do next. What do you do when a baby in front of you is lost and hungry? Suddenly he got an idea.

"Are you hungry? I've got some food at home."

The baby looked up in confusion. "You would feed me? You do not know me."

Tim nodded sincerely. "It'll be like a sleepover. We can play games and watch movies and eat food."

"What is a sleepover?" The baby asked.

"It's uh," Tim thought of how to explain it. "It's when you spend the night at someone's house, and you play and have fun."

"Oh. I've never had a sleepover. Okay. I shall join you to learn what it is."

Tim thought the baby was a little weird. But now he would get to eat at least. "Okay let's go."
