He heard the sound of the enemy Killjoy's lockdown being placed, saw the holographic web spread all around him of the area it covered, but gunshots were still being exchanged. Sova adjusted, turning to his right to glance quickly at the cubby on site, shooting a single bullet as a warning, eyes scanning the area, registering as many details as he could manage. He was running out of time. The Hunter was about to turn to find a safe spot, to get away from being detained, when he felt a bullet pierce his leg, causing him to stumble.
Elbow.
Eyes once more darted around, his torso quickly turning to his left as he shot a single bullet, clean, landing on his target. He didn't quite register who it was even after hearing the sound of their body hit the sand, more preoccupied by the timer ticking down, precious seconds being lost, and the comms from the rest of his team were coming from the entire other site. He had to go. The beeping and the whirring of the lockdown device forced the Hunter to rush, disregarding the sound of multiple footsteps on the sand coming after him. Sova managed to stumble out of the site, but not far away enough, realizing that making his way back through hookah had been a mistake on his part and he was about to suffer the consequences from it.
The sensation of something piercing through his skin was felt as his body lost movement. Cursing in his head, Sova had managed to get a single word across before finding himself detained.
"Lockdown."
Hopefully that would tell the rest of his team that the site they were on was clear, safe, and the enemies distracted with him. The spike would be diffused and the mission would've been a success despite his own mistake. Sova braced himself for what was to come as the loud stomping of steps got closer and closer. That was when he noticed the shadows around him grow darker, surrounding him and blocking, not only his vision, but the vision of those on the outside. Shadows that the Russian hunter easily recognized, and were followed by a sigh of relief.
He was here. He heard him.
Sova remained detained for seconds longer, but the ones who were after him never reached him. He could take a very clear guess of what happened to them, or more like, who happened to them. The moment he could move again, however, he staggered forward, leaning on nearby boxes by the exit of one of the teleporters, and turning to rest his back against the wall, breathing out as the pain of the gunshots caught up to him. But that was it, he could still breath. He was alright.
When the shadows around him dissipated, he could see the dark red drops staining the sand underneath him, the ones that were his own, but as he scanned his surroundings, he noticed more, larger ones. Then, the bodies on the floor he also recognized as the mirror agents he was shooting at, and who were shooting at him earlier. Then, the ever so familiar hooded figure that had come to his aid, more than once Omen had his back, and this time was no exception.
The Hunter's expression relaxed, if slightly.
-"Thank you"- Sova breathed out, mismatched eyes fixed on the standing man with his back to him.
He was no fool, he knew that despite years of military training, he had found himself outnumbered, at a disadvantage. About to speak again, the blond man stopped himself, quickly looking at the Harbinger up and down and noticing the blood covering the other's body.
-"Theirs"- Omen responded as if reading Sova's mind, his head slightly turning to glance back at the Hunter.
Keen experienced eyes catching the smoke that, in appearance, the Radiant's body was made out of, wisped, the other's shape glitching, as if struggling to keep together.
-"Hunter"- The Revenant's growl like voice broke the silence, once more catching Sova's attention, bringing it back up to the other man's covered face.
The Russian leaned against the wall, using it to help push himself to stand up properly, flinching slightly at the sudden jolt of pain that came from the movement, but after a quick breath in and out, was able to properly stand, moving away from the wall. He noticed Omen move closer to him. The sound of his feet on the bloodstained sand loud and clear to his ears, letting the Hunter know his body was still on high alert. Sure, the mission was not over, but he knew he was safe with Omen, right ?
A clawed hand reached out to him, getting ever so close, but the shadow hesitated, momentarily pulling his hand back and away from Sova as his other hand held it back down and the man himself took a step back, head turning down to look at the ground, at the evidence of what he'd just done.
Sova was the one to shorten the distance between them and reach out this time, a hand gently resting on the side of Omen's head, guiding his head to turn up, to look back at him and let their eyes meet. There was a gentle smile on the blond man's face as he moved it closer to Omen's mask. When the Hunter's other hand also made its way to hold the Radiant's face, all the Harbinger could do was gingerly move his own up, resting on top of Sova's and leaving a bloody imprint on the back of them.
-"Remember, Omen, you are man, not a monster"- The reminder made Omen stop, take a moment and let the words that had just been whispered to him sink in.
The Revenant shook his head slightly.
-"No"- He replied, grabbing Sova's hands on his own and slowly moving them off his face as he remembered what he had walked into when he answered the Hunter's call out. How it made his blood boil, his entire body shiver at the thought of Sova being hurt, and his own shape shift with anger at the desire to return the pain tenfold to those who had done it. It messed with his focus, made him unable to think of anything else but.
-"I am a monster to those who dare hurt you, my owl"-
