Toriel attacks the human. She means no harm... Well, just a little, enough to dissuade them from going any further.
She's sure she's horrible for doing this, but she's the only one that can do it, and the human won't turn back, no matter how much she asks.
They're just a little human, Asgore can't be allowed to see them, they can't go any further.
She doesn't want to kill them, although most of her hits have landed. The human is surprisingly bad at dodging, she has to be careful.
So, she tones it down. She aims away from them. She's pretty sure the human hasn't realized. They're a child after all, they can't tell she's letting them win.
Suddenly, the human's soul drifts to the side, unexpectedly.
It breaks in half. Toriel gasps, she cries out their name.
She didn't mean to! She never wanted to-
A few seconds have barely passed when she feels something shift, in her, in the world.
It all goes black.
Toriel wakes up, and feels guilty for a moment. She wonders what this feeling is for. She doesn't remember, but she doesn't dwell on it.
Time to check if a human has arrived.
