Work Text:
He tried to look tough.
To smile, for that was his wish.
But Artoriel was no fool, he could see the full body trembling and the erratic tail.
The mere mention of summoning Thordan again made him a mess.
Even as he was talking normally with Aymeric about what to do you could see him fiddle with his gloved hand, with his ring.
It was a sorry sight to behold but somehow it gave him comfort, to know that even after all this time and all the places and people he had met... he was still thinking about his brother.
When Aymeric excused himself to go and start preparing it slipped, he didn't want it to but apparently he wasn't a strong willed man.
"Haurcherfant is lucky, to have someone care that strongly about him"
It shocks A'nthos, it's clear in his expression that he didn't think his cracks were showing as much as they did.
After a few seconds in which to recompone himself he smiled, a very pained one, a real one.
"How could he not have that? When he was the most caring and loving person to walk this star?"
He said it while holding his hand, then he gave the finger that clearly had a ring under the glove a kiss before excusing himself and going off to another adventure of his.
Clearly running from having to speak more of his feelings out loud.
Loving and caring... was he? Artoriel is sure that he had to be but he had so many little memories of his brother.
All his life was spent resenting him and what his presence meant for his mother.
He wish he could remember his brother more, he wish he knew what had every person that spent time with him enamoured.
But he doesn't, and he could never again make new memories.
At least someone does, at least there's still people that can tell him about the great person that he had met but refused to see until it was too late.
