Work Text:
It was a pretty typical Friday afternoon and all the boys were working in their respective studios. What they did was up to them, whether it be recording, writing lyrics, making samples, or whatever else they needed to get done. They had given themselves five hours to work before they agreed to all go home together for the weekend.
Jungkook was currently sitting in his desk chair pouting at his computer. He had been trying to come up with lyrics for a new song for hours and it just wasn’t coming to him. He decided a break would do him some good and went to sit on his couch to scroll through his phone for a bit.
The first thing he did was go to YouTube and the first video that popped up was a compilation of funny animals so he clicked it and immediately started laughing at the cuteness on his screen.
Now, what you have to understand is that Jungkook’s YouTube recommendations are half for big Jungkook and half for his little self, Kookie, so when he accidentally clicked on a Paw Patrol video next he couldn’t be entirely to blame.
He quickly got immersed in the short clip from the latest episode that he hadn’t seen yet and soon found himself in a Paw Patrol marathon.
After about thirty minutes of watching videos his tummy rumbled and de decided to go get a snack from the vending machine down the hall. He got to his feet and stumbled a bit before opening his door and making his way to the machine. On his way Hoseok came out from the bathroom just as Jungkook was passing by.
“Hey Kook.” He greeted
“Hi Hoho!” Jungkook chirped with a grin as he continued walking, his mind set on getting his hands on some honey butter chips.
Hoseok furrowed his eyebrows at the nickname that was usually reserved for when Jungkook was little and decided to follow him to see what he was up to.
He trailed him to the vending machine and sat back to watch. After a few minutes of Jungkook fiddling with the buttons Hoseok decided to intervene.
“Kookie?” He asked, testing the waters
Jungkook looked up at him with big, surprised eyes “Hoho! You gettin snacks too?”
“No munchkin, I’m here to help you, you look like you’re having a hard time working the machine.”
“Oh…yeah” the little looked dejectedly at the buttons “ ‘s not workin”
“Here, let me try”
The younger stepped aside and watched Hoseok’s nimble fingers extract the chips he wanted
“Wow! You magic Hoho! Tanks!”
“No problem cutie. Should we go find your daddy now?”
“No, I ok. I gots work to do.”
“I wasn’t really asking bubs. I can’t leave you alone and your daddy would kill me if I let you go back to your studio like this. Sorry”
“But am big boy!” Kookie pouted and stomped his foot
“Your behavior tells me otherwise. Do you want me to call daddy and have him come get you or can you walk with me like a good boy?”
“Good boy” kookie grumbled with his lips in a firm pout and his arms crossed over his chest.
When they got to Namjoon’s studio door hoseok knocked while keeping a firm grip on Jungkook’s hand.
“Joon! I have someone here to see you” he called through the door
“It’s unlocked! You can come in!” Namjoon called back
Hoseok opened the door and Jungkook instantly threw himself at Namjoon who had just stood up to greet whoever Hoseok had with him.
“Daddy!!”
“Oh! Hey monkey. I didn’t expect to see you here.” He raised an eyebrow at Hoseok in question
“Don’t ask me” hoseok shrugged “I found him in the hallway like this.”
“Kookie? Can you look at daddy please?”
Jungkook looked up at his caregiver with his big innocent doe eyes and smiled
“Can you tell daddy what happened?”
“Was watchin videos and then Paw Patrol!” He explained vaguely but Namjoon got the gist
“That would do it” the caregiver chuckled “Hobi, can you text the group chat and let them know about the situation?”
“Sure thing. I’ll check back with you later though, I still have a bit of work to do. Text if you need anything”
“Thanks. See you later”
With that Namjoon was left with his little that was still attached to him but was looking around at all the colorful art on the walls.
“Hey bud, how old are you today?”
Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at his fingers and thought. “I this many!” He said as he held up three fingers.
‘Okay’ Namjoon sighed to himself ‘a little younger than usual’
Namjoon loved Kookie in all his various ages but today he had planned to get most of his backed up work done but with a three year old under foot he’d likely have to push it back again.
“Can you be a good boy for daddy and sit on the couch while I get out some stuff for you to play with?”
“Kookie good boy!” The little smiled and hopped onto the couch where he watched Namjoon dig through a chest to find the toys he had stored there.
He pulled out a little wooded puzzle with animal shapes and a Mr. Potato Head that kookie loved no matter what age he was. He then placed it on the carpet and the little scooted off the couch to play.
While he was occupied Namjoon checked his phone that had been buzzing nonstop since Hoseok had left. He saw the “Code Pink” text followed by various questions from his fellow band mates that Hoseok had thankfully answered.
He knew the little wouldn’t be entertained for long so he took the opportunity to get at least a little more work out of the way before the weekend. It was only about 20 minutes later that he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder
“Daddy?” Kookie whispered
Namjoon turned around to face the the boy standing at his side “yeah bud?”
“Gotta go potty”
“Let me just save this and then I’ll take you okay? Can you hold it?”
The little nodded and waited patiently while doing just the tiniest little potty dance.
Namjoon stood up and took his hand to lead him to the only single room bathroom on the floor, which luckily wasn’t too far away. He looked around to make sure nobody was there before they entered together and locked the door behind them.
“Can you do it by yourself or do you need daddy’s help?”
“Daddy help p’ease”
The caregiver helped him unbutton his jeans that he was sure were uncomfortable for the little and pulled them, along with his underwear, down before guiding him to sit on the toilet.
Jungkook just sat there looking around. When a full three minutes had passed without any action Namjoon squatted in front of the boy and put his hands on his knees.
“Are you all done?”
The little just shook his head. Namjoon knew that it sometimes took him longer to go when he was little but it usually wasn’t this long. The caregiver started stroking jungkook’s knees with his thumbs and humming ‘you are my sunshine’ to try to get him to relax a bit. It only took a few seconds before he heard the sound of Jungkook going potty. He kept singing until the little interrupted him
“All done daddy”
“Good boy” Namjoon praised as he helped him stand up and pull up his pants.
“I no wanna wear my pants” the younger boy pouted
“I know they’re uncomfy honey, but we didn’t bring any extra clothes today and you can’t go around in your undies.”
“Why not? I like my undies”
“Because it’s not appropriate while we’re here. You can only wear just underwear when we’re at home. We can go change as soon as we get back.”
“Okay” Jungkook relented, though he still had a sad pout
Namjoon made sure they flushed and then headed to the sink to wash both their hands. They then went back to the rapper’s studio after making sure the coast was clear and the caregiver sat down to play with Jungkook until it was time to go home, which wasn’t that long.
When it was time to go they first cleaned Namjoon’s studio and then went to go get Jungkook’s stuff from his. Namjoon texted the group chat to tell the other boys to all go get in the car first so that Jungkook wouldn’t have to sit cooped up while waiting for them.
When they got the text that members were all ready the duo headed down to where they were waiting in the car at a back entrance.
“Hi kookie!” Jimin squealed while reaching out for a hug
“Hi Mimi!” Junkook chirped, equally as enthusiastic and fell into the older’s embrace.
“Come sit next to me kookie!” Taehyung spoke from the back as he patted the empty seat next to him.
Luckily no one argued and Jungkook scrambled to his seat where taehyung helped buckle him. Namjoon sat in the passenger seat next to their manager who was the only other person who knew of Jungkook’s little side, which was why he was driving them home instead of their usual driver. One of the boys must’ve texted him to arrange for him to pick them up.
When they got home Namjoon took Jungkook to change into his little clothes which was a pair of soft pajama pants with paw patrol characters on them, a loose light blue t-shirt and fuzzy socks. When the little was dressed Namjoon changed into comfier clothes too.
They then went back out to the living room where most of the other boys were lounging around except for Jin and Yoongi who were making dinner.
“Daddy? We play game?”
“Sure! Ask your hyungs if they want to play too.”
“Hyungies want to play too?” He asked, facing the three boys on the couch and they each replied that they would join whatever game they were going to play.
“What do you want to play bud?”
“Umm…duck duck goose!”
“I love that game!” Jimin cheered
“Do you want to go first?” Namjoon asked the little
“Yeah! Sit sit sit!”
The boys laughed and sat in a circle. Once they were situated Jungkook went around tapping on their heads saying “duck…duck…duck…” until eventually he yelled “GOOSE!” the second time he tapped hoseok’s head.
The older boy jumped up and started chasing the little around the circle making sure to let him win by going a little slow. When Jungkook threw himself into hoseok’s spot out of breath and giggling uncontrollably Hoseok dramatically mourned his loss, enticing even more laughter from the younger.
They kept going until everyone had had a turn being the tapper and they were all thoroughly worn out from laughing and running in circles. They had just collapsed on the couch when Jin came through to tell them that dinner was ready so they all hauled themselves to the table where the food was laid out.
Yoongi and Jin had prepared all the food necessary for bibimbap and it was all laid out separately so they could each make it how they wanted. Jungkook was a little overwhelmed by all of the different bowls and dishes before him and wasn’t sure what to do he he just sat and watched everyone else.
“Kookie?” Jin questioned, bringing him out of his stupor “do you need help?”
The little pouted and nodded so Jin grabbed his bowl and started putting what he knew kookie would like into it. He then set it in front of the younger and handed him his chopsticks.
Jungkook just looked at the utensils as if they had personally offended him and Jin laughed quietly.
“Hyungie will help” the older smiled as he took the chopsticks back.
Throughout the meal he switched off between giving himself and the little bites of food and Jungkook ended up eating his entire bowl, having worked up an appetite after playing.
When they were done they boys who hadn’t cooked went to clean up and jin and Yoongi were left in charge of Jungkook.
“Yoonie?”
“What’s up cutie?”
“You read me story?”
“Sure. Go grab a book and we can read it on the couch.”
The little scampered off to his and Namjoon’s shared room where he found a small shelf of children’s books. He grabbed his two favorite, Corduroy and Where the Wild Things Are, and brought them back to Yoongi. The older boy patted his lap and Jungkook plopped himself down and got comfy.
“Which one first?”
“Corduroy!”
The rapper started reading but only got about half a page before he was stopped.
“Can have paci p’ease?”
“I’ll get it” Jin offered and stood up to go find one and Jungkook only let the story telling resume once he had the soother in his mouth.
Yoongi was Jungkook’s favorite hyung to read stories with because he would use all kinds of voices and the little thought it was really silly. Every character had their own voice and they were always different so the little never knew what to expect. This time was no different and the boy found himself giggling throughout the whole two books at his hyung’s antics.
By the time they were done reading the boys who were cleaning up had started to filter back into the living room. They decided to play one last game before Jungkook would have to go get ready for bed.
“Do you want to chose the game, little monkey?” Namjoon asked
“Daddy choose”
“Ok, let’s see. How about Simon says?”
The little shook his head
“I know! What about an obstacle course!” The caregiver suggested
“Yeah! Can we!”
“Of course! Let’s find some things to make into obstacles.”
The boys scattered around the house looking for “obstacles” to be used in their game.
The little grabbed an armful of his stuffies and dumped them on the floor claiming that each person had to have a sidekick to help them.
Yoongi lined up four chairs to weave around, hoseok turned pots upside down to step on, Namjoon put pillows on the floor to be hopped over, Taehyung set up a hula hoop to throw balls through, Jimin pulled the couch over to do front rolls on, and Jin attached a blanket to some chairs so they could army crawl under it.
It turned out to be quite the extravagant course and all the boys were pretty excited to compete. They decided to time themselves to see who could get through it the fastest, though they kept that a secret from Jungkook because competition could make him come out of little space and they wanted him to stay little so he could relax.
Namjoon went first and being the clumsy man he is tripped on only the second obstacle, which was the pots, and their rule was if you mess up you have to start again so the rapper had to go back to the start. Luckily, on his second time he was able to complete the whole thing, though still a little clumsily
Jimin and Taehyung were able to complete the entire course smoothly and elegantly with no mess ups. Jimin even did a flamboyant bow at the end when the other boys clapped at his success. Jungkook was slow and steady but also managed to get through the entire course without having to restart.
Hoseok had trouble throwing the balls through the hula hoop and kept yelling causing the boys to dissolve into laughter. Eventually he was able to get all the balls through and completed the rest without much difficulty.
Jin was last but certainly not least. He completed each obstacle in a completely absurd way, making weird noises and doing the activities wrong on purpose. The boys were crying on the floor with laughter by his grand finale which was a grand ninja roll off the couch into a super hero pose.
After Jin’s performance it took them all a minute to catch their breaths and stop the occasional rogue giggle but when they did they felt so emotionally fulfilled. That was the most fun they had had in a while and it felt good to laugh so hard they couldn’t breathe.
They collapsed on the couch together, even though the technically couldn’t all fit, and just enjoyed each other’s company before Jungkook started nodding off against Jimin’s shoulder.
“Alright cutie, I think it’s time for bed.” Namjoon said as he stood up
“No wanna” the little whined and buried himself further into Jimin’s warm skin
“We can play again tomorrow” taehyung spoke
“Promise?”
“We promise bud. Now let’s go get you in the bath”
The youngest reluctantly got up and took Namjoon’s outstretched hand and allowed himself to be lead to the bathroom.
“Potty first while I get the tub ready”
The little obediently sat on the toilet after getting help undressing while the older filled the bath. When it was ready he was helped into the warm bubbly water and handed a few of his bath toys.
“Daddy?”
“Yeah bud?”
“I had lotsa fun today”
“Im really happy to hear that, monkey. I had fun too.”
“Can we play more obs’acle tomorrow?”
“Sure. We can do whatever you want to do”
The little nodded sleepily and let Namjoon wash his hair and body. When they were done the older wrapped Jungkook in his paw patrol towel and helped him brush his teeth before leading him to their bedroom.
The caregiver had Jungkook sit on the bed while he picked out his PJs and grabbed a pull up since he always wore one at night when he was little.
“Do you want to sleep with daddy tonight?” Namjoon asked quietly as he helped the little get dressed into the clothes
“Yes p’ease”
When he was done changing him, Namjoon guided the younger under the covers of his own bed since it was bigger than Jungkook’s. He then went to grab the little’s most prized possession, his puppy stuffie named spot, and a pacifier. He handed them to the boy and then got into bed with him to cuddle him while he fell asleep.
The caregiver had meant to stay awake and get back up to get himself ready for bed but ended up being lulled to sleep by his baby’s even breathing and warm body up against his.
