Work Text:
When Iida heard a knock on his door a minute after curfew, he felt alerted. Usually nobody dared disturb the class representative's sleep schedule.
Sure, some of his fellow classmates did not understand the importance of getting your full eight hours of sleep in order to be at your best ability to study the next day. They sneaked out of their rooms and made noise, so Iida had to scold them and send them back to bed. Being 2A's class representative meant to make sure everyone was following the rules and staying healthy.
But a knock on his own door this late had him worried that something important needed to be discussed with him. He got out of bed, grabbed his glasses off the nightstand and put on his slippers, before making his way to the door. Upon opening it, he found himself face to face with Aoyama, the student looking tired, but as dandified as always. He had curlers in his hair, a sleep mask hanging around his neck, and wore a silk bathrobe.
"Aoyama-kun, what can I help you with at this late hour?", Iida asked and bowed before the smaller boy.
"Excusez-moi, Iida-kun", Aoyama said in a small voice. It was so unlike him that Iida was sure he had been right about something important being the matter.
"Can I come in, peut-être?"
Iida nodded shortly and opened his door wide for his classmate to come in. Aoyama came to a stand in the middle of the room, seemingly unsure of how to operate in someone else's space.
"You can sit down. On the chair or the bed, whatever is more comfortable for you", Iida told him and when Aoyama chose the bed, he sat down next to him.
"Aoyama-kun, what do you want to talk to me about this late?" Iida cut through the silence that had stretched on for a minute since they had sat down.
"Is there something you struggle wi-"
Lips pressed to Iida's own and prevented him from finishing his sentence. They left him just as quickly and Iida started reeling. A few seconds ticked by with him just staring at the boy next to him, who looked back at him, all expectant eyes and shiny lips but with a telltale red flush to his cheeks.
"Was this a good kiss, mon délégué de classe?" Aoyama asked quietly and Iida needed a few seconds more to compose himself.
"What was- I mean, I did not- what were you- Aoyama-kun", Iida stammered out. Maybe he wasn't really composed yet.
"Très mal?" Aoyama almost whispered and his bottom lip started to quiver.
"N-no! I mean… from an objective view it wasn't bad, well the technique, you know… if you put your, your lips to… it was what you would expect from a kiss, I suppose", Iida concluded after clearing his throat.
"Have you not been kissed before either, Iida-kun?" Aoyama asked, eyes round.
"That is… a pretty intimate question to ask", Iida mumbled.
"Of course! I am sorry, Iida-kun. This was not very discrete…"
Aoyama fidgeted with his hands in his lap before turning to face the other properly.
"I wanted to talk to you because I am unsure about something. About… les baisers…"
Iida perked up. He was still reeling from the sudden… gesture his classmate had performed but now it seemed this had not been the irritating accident of a sleepy boy but the issue he had come here for.
"What do you mean, Aoyama-kun? I don't think I can follow you", Iida said politely despite his frantically beating heart. Being kissed out of the blue past ten on a school day was something he had not expected to happen. Being kissed for the first time was something he had not expected to happen.
"Well, it is something our classmates have been talking about lately. About kissing", Aoyama started and his flushed cheeks got even redder.
"And I was having this thought… I am sans expérience… It makes me insecure."
Round blue eyes looked up at Iida again and Iida felt unsure about what was expected from him at this moment. He tried to clear his throat to get a bit of time to gather his thoughts.
"Um", he started, "experience is something you get over time. Like, with hero work you get better at handling your quirk with practise and… well, I don't know- I mean socialising is a part of being a healthy human", he stopped to find the red string he had thought he'd had.
"We all need to spend time with other people, especially our fellow classmates and heroes… this um, will develop over time… relationships, uh-", Iida coughed again and felt his face heating up.
Giving advice on the social part of their education was something that didn't come as easy to him. There were far more outgoing teenagers in their school than him. Ashido for example or Kirishima. Iida himself did his fair share of indulging in group activities like playing games to keep the motivation of his classmates going.
But to him all that was part of becoming a capable hero. He had not spent much thought on deep bonds and relationships. It was part of a person's private life and as far as Iida was concerned it was something he hadn't let himself indulge in.
He considered himself friends with Midoriya and Uraraka. Friendship was what kept the heart full and strong to get through work and life. But dating? Iida couldn't remember ever considering that for himself while still in high school.
He came from a well respected family and getting married and having children was definitely on his agenda but it was a topic he had saved for the future.
How was he supposed to give advice to his classmate about this if he himself didn't have any experience either? If he didn't even know himself if he thought of dating while still in school as wise?
They had a lot to do and learn after all and a relationship needed time to blossom, time that was sparse. Getting distracted from hero work was nothing he wished for any of his classmates.
On the other hand, there were several couples that had formed over time among his fellow pupils and as far as Iida knew, their marks hadn't suffered.
Iida got shaken from his thoughts by a hand picking at the sleeve of his pajama shirt.
"Iida-kun? Tu vas bien?"
Iida cleared his throat for the umpteenth time and looked down at Aoyama.
"Yes, I am fine. Thank you, Aoyama-kun. What I have been wanting to say is… I do not think that I am the right person to ask about kissing. I have not had any experience either and can't give you good advice. I also don't know what it was you were wishing for me to tell you."
Aoyama's eyes suddenly lit up and he clapped his hands.
"Oh très réjouissant!", he exclaimed and skirted closer to the taller boy.
"Iida-kun, we can learn together!"
Iida's eyes widened.
"L-learn?" he stammered.
"Oui! You said experience comes from practise so what better way to get good at kissing than to practise together!" Aoyama looked excited.
Iida felt his cheeks heat up so much he could have competed with a whistling kettle.
"B-but um, it is late and-", he tried for a way out even as he couldn't take his eyes off Aoyama's shiny, full lips.
"We don't have to finish our practise tonight, non?" the blond boy asked.
"R-right", Iida said and before he could argue some more about this sudden proposal, Aoyama skirted closer and straddled Iida's lap, placing his small hands on the other's shoulders.
"This is a better position, non?" he asked and Iida could only nod dumbly, mouth dry and brain unable to form a coherent thought.
Aoyama smiled down at him and nodded to himself before leaning down. Instinctively Iida closed his eyes, which didn't turn out to be the best course of action as he didn't see where his lips were going.
He missed Aoyama's mouth by an inch as he leaned forward and landed more on his cheek than his target. Aoyama giggled and the sound made Iida's stomach turn in a way that wasn't entirely unpleasant.
"My lips are here, mon ami", Aoyama giggled as he pointed at his own lips. Iida flushed with his eyes now wide open. Still it was hard to see since his glasses started fogging up. Was the heater broken or why was he feeling so hot under his collar?
He didn't get much time to dwell on that thought because Aoyama leaned down again, his hands now cupping Iida's cheeks, and he placed a well aimed kiss to the class rep's lips. Iida's stomach made that weird turning sensation again and his lips tingled. His hands lay uselessly on the bed sheets and he realised he was gripping them hard.
"You can put your hands on my waist", Aoyama said cheerfully and Iida nodded shortly before doing as suggested. Aoyama's waist was pretty small. Iida's hands almost touched when he placed them on his classmate.
Iida wasn't sure if he had come down with an indigestion since his stomach didn't stop turning and tingling. He barely registered leaning up to meet Aoyama for a third kiss and this time his stomach did a flip so intense it felt as if Iida was falling. Aoyama had angled his face to the left, his small nose brushing up against Iida's, and instead of just putting his lips to Iida's, motionless, he moved them experimentally.
His bottom lip dragging over Iida's own had the class rep's head spinning wildly and he gasped and gripped Aoyama's waist tightly to ground himself. The blond boy let out something akin to a whimper and buried his fingers in short, black hair. Iida couldn't do anything but hold on tight while Aoyama forced his lips apart to slot his own between them.
He moved his face gently, dragging over the soft flesh of Iida's lips and sucking lightly. It was unlike anything Iida could have expected from kissing. It didn't feel as if Aoyama had no experience at all.
They pulled apart eventually, both panting a bit from lack of oxygen. Iida guessed they had still to work out how to breathe while kissing.
Aoyama grinned down at Iida and his heart did some fluttering motion at that.
"We were not so bad, non?" Aoyama giggled and leaned back down to hug Iida tightly.
Iida couldn't do anything but let his own body do as it pleased, wrapping his arms around the small body in his lap and resting his chin on a bony shoulder.
"I-I guess it was alright", he coughed. Truth be told, he did not know how a good kiss was supposed to be executed.
"I think we can practise some more to make sure we, um, do it right", he mumbled into Aoyama's shoulder. It smelled like roses and cinnamon.
"Oui! Of course", Aoyama pulled back slightly and nodded his agreement.
"Tomorrow evening?"
Iida nodded.
"Before curfew though. Both of us need our rest. 9pm might be a good time."
Aoyama nodded again, beaming as he hopped off Iida's lap. Suddenly being freed from the weight pressing his legs into the mattress felt oddly unsatisfying.
"Right! Bonne nuit!" Aoyama said and bowed down before going to the door with a bounce in his step, opening it before he went through and vanished. The door clicked shut and Iida let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding.
Then, in a state of utter confusion, he did something he usually never let himself do.
"Fuck."
He cursed.
