Work Text:
Gently smacking his head, Chuuya ushered Dazai to be quiet as he left for a sudden job call. The president found a lead on a case they'd been working on, needing Dazai's ability to complete their mission. He warned him to be careful, giving him a quick peck on the lips before the door closed softly. Chuuya tiptoed around the couch where the younger two slept, creeping into the kitchen to make breakfast.
He yawned as he searched Akutagawa's pantry, looking for something he could make. He spotted cinnamon bread, powdered sugar, and syrup, instantly settling on making french toast. He pulled each item out of the cabinets, grabbing butter and a pan. It was ten in the morning, and he figured that the younger two would wake up soon, so he swiftly made their food, trying to be quiet and diligent.
However, Atsushi's heightened senses weren't helpful. The smell of fresh breakfast woke him, eyes opening to a pleasant view of Akutagawa's sleeping face in front of him. He smiled softly, prolonging a kiss on his cheek, before carefully slipping out of Akutagawa's arms and towards the sweet scent. When he entered the kitchen, his eyes were still half-closed and somewhat blurry, barely making out the redhead's face before him.
"Morning," Chuuya spoke quietly, trying to let Atsushi's ears ease into the noise of the morning, "You sleep okay?"
Atsushi walked up behind Chuuya, wrapping his arms around his waist, "Mhm."
Chuuya's eyes widened slightly at the action, smiling when Atsushi placed his head on Chuuya's shoulder. He reached his free hand up to Atsushi's hair, sifting his fingers through strands before chuckling, "Tired baby."
Atsushi groaned and shook his head, "'M not a baby."
Chuuya let out a huff before going back to making french toast, "Whatever you say."
The bread on the pan sizzled against the butter, and six pieces of bread ended up on a plate beside the stove. He turned off the burner, shifting his head to the side to grasp Atsushi in a sweet, lengthened kiss, sighing against his lips. He hadn't felt this at peace in a while.
Chuuya leaned his head against Atsushi's shoulder, not quite whispering as he spoke, "You should wake up Ryuu while everything's still hot."
Atsushi held him tighter, burying his face in Chuuya's neck, "Don't wanna leave."
Chuuya snorted, lightly hitting the boy's arm, "C'mon, then you'll get to cuddle both of us."
Atsushi raised his head at that, rushing out of the kitchen and to the living room. He kneeled next to the couch where Akutagawa laid peacefully, sleeping with one of the most content expressions Atsushi had ever seen. He felt bad disturbing his rest, but he wouldn't want to miss out on breakfast.
He slipped a careful arm up his blanket-covered body, caressing his upper arm while kissing his forehead, "Wake up, Ryuu. Chuuya made breakfast."
The man's eyelids fluttered before his body curled into itself, pulling the blanket with him. Atsushi giggled at the movement, wrapping both arms around him, hoisting him upward and into his arms. The man complained without malice, resting his head on Atsushi's chest.
"Chuuya made french toast, I knew you wouldn't want to miss out on it," Atsushi spoke, cradling his body and kissing the top of his head, "Sorry for waking you up, though."
Akutagawa shook his head, wrapping his arms around Atsushi's shoulders and mumbling, "It's okay."
Atsushi chuckled, shifting his arms under Akutagawa's thighs and lifting him as the older man clung to him like a koala. He walked over to the dining table, placed Akutagawa on a chair, and felt his arms slip off of his body, the man's eyes still closed from drowsiness.
Timely so, Chuuya brought out their breakfast, bringing over the syrup, butter, and powdered sugar paired with a spoon. He sat down across from Atsushi, who gently made sure Akutagawa didn't fall asleep at the table. Atsushi dug into the french toast first, forever having a massive appetite. Akutagawa ate small bites of his food slowly, savoring it while also still being under a sleepy haze. Chuuya ate at a normal pace, glancing at the two and smiling whenever he could.
Atsushi spoke through a mouthful, "Where's Dazai?"
Chuuya cut into his bread as he replied, "He got called into the agency. Said he had a job that required No Longer Human."
Atsushi frowned a bit, continuing to eat. He had wanted to cuddle with him as well, a little disappointed that he wouldn't get to.
This hadn't gone unnoticed by Chuuya. He snickered, "Don't worry, kid, he'll be back in an hour. From what he described, the job isn't that hard."
Atsushi perked up at that, a silent blush spreading across his cheeks, not knowing that he was so obvious.
Akutagawa chimed in, voice still pretty quiet due to his sleepiness, "He always gets clingy the morning after."
Atsushi nearly pouted, crossing his arms, "Like you're one to talk."
Akutagawa shrugged, taking a bite of his food, "At least I don't deny it."
Atsushi faked an offended face, eating his food with the slightest bit more vigor than before.
Chuuya smiled at the two, thinking, "Honestly. How did they end up exactly like us?"

As soon as their breakfast was promptly devoured, Chuuya placed the dirty dishes near the sink. He would have done the dishes, had Atsushi not pleaded he come to the couch. He had clung to Chuuya's waist, whining and kissing his neck to convince him. Chuuya had given in as soon as five minutes went by.
The boy was very persuasive when he was cute, okay?
They laid down and put on a corny romantic comedy, the kind you'd only find funny when jokes were cracked and then cringe at the romance. Though, that hadn't mattered. Chuuya, in the middle, cradling both of them in his arms, started conversations and made some jokes of his own, finding Akutagawa smiling at a couple.
Atsushi looked up at him, humming before he spoke, "Do you have any stories of when you and Dazai were working together?"
Chuuya snorted, memories flooding his mind as he shook his head, "God, there's so many that I could spend a year telling you all of them."
Akutagawa nodded, leaning against Chuuya's shoulder, "I was there for some of them."
Chuuya smiled at him before continuing, "I can tell you about the time Dazai got so drunk that he started telling me how much he loved me."
Atsushi practically jerked with excitement nodding enthusiastically and listening in. Chuuya chuckled, sighing with contentment before he spoke, "So, we'd had a long mission, one that took about a month to fully clear, and Dazai needed a drink. I think at that point, we were seventeen? I'm not sure, but he definitely was not old enough to drink. But, you know, stupid kid decisions."
Atsushi nodded as Chuuya continued, "I'm, maybe, three drinks in? And Dazai's already drunk off of his ass. He's slurring, saying things that could barely be considered words, and I had to get him out of there. We shared an apartment then, so when I took him back, he was so clingy that I thought he was never going to let go of me. So, I tried to throw him into his bedroom, and this little shit grabs me by my tie and drags me down onto his bed with him."
"This fucker goes and starts rambling about something that I cannot understand for the life of me, so I grab his face and tell him to be clear if he has something to say," Chuuya doubles over in laughter, and continues through breaths, "And this dumbass goes, 'Oh, Chuuya! I didn't see you there!' And fucking giggles like an idiot."
Atsushi snorts, trying to imagine a scene of a drunk, teenage Dazai. He can't quite picture it, but he still laughs, "I can't even imagine that."
Chuuya shakes his head, "God, you should see him when he gets drunk now. He's so much worse."
Akutagawa nods, wearing a smile of his own, "As he got older, his drunk antics got less and less easy to understand."
Chuuya leans back on the couch, pulling Atsushi into his lap while Akutagawa leaned against his chest, "He started rambling about how much he cared about me, and because we'd only known each other for two years, I pretty much stopped functioning. I'd only known him to make fun of me, so seeing him so openly talking about how he cared for me was so bizarre. There was one thing he said to me that stuck, and I never could bring myself to forget it."
Atsushi looked up, "What was it?"
Chuuya smiled fondly, "He said, 'Corruption has never been ugly. It's always been beautiful, not because of how it looks or how it behaves, it's because it's you, no matter how much you may not believe me.'"
"And I still stand by that today," A voice came from the window, and they all looked up to see Dazai climbing through the frame.
Chuuya's eyebrow twitched in annoyance as he spoke loudly, "Stop coming in through the window, this place is ten floors off the ground, idiot."
Dazai plopped himself inside the house, brushing any stray dust off his coat and giggling, "Aw, is Chibi worried about me?"
Chuuya crossed his arms, groaning, "Fuck you."
Dazai chuckled, a shit-eating grin on his face as he spoke, "When and where?"
Chuuya shot up in anger, chasing Dazai around the living room while the younger two watched in somewhat terror. Atsushi just shook his head and scooted closer to Akutagawa, kissing him gently before laying in his lap, playing with the man's slender fingers.
Their relationship had started off smoother than they had thought it would.
Akutagawa sighed, "Those two will never have a peaceful day in full, huh?"
Atsushi chuckled, twirling his finger around Akutagawa's hair, "Who knows?"
Chuuya smacked the back of Dazai's head, chasing Dazai around the room as he shouted, "Abuse! Chibi's abusing me!"
The shorter man practically growled before yelling, "Mackerel, I swear if you don't get your ass over here."
Dazai whined, slightly out of breath, "What's Chuuya gonna do with my ass?"
Chuuya snarled, "I'll fucking spank you, idiot!"
Dazai snorted, "Kinky."
"You little-"
