Confessions

Summary:

It’s been almost a year since Anakin’s and (Y/n)’s first kiss, and the First Order has yet to take (Y/n) from this time. While waiting for Padme to get ready for a mission Anakin and (Y/n) hang around her house, and as time passes things are confessed.

Work Text:

“Anakin, put me down!” (Y/n) shouted, a tight grip on the sides of the chair seat that was floating. She was regretting telling Anakin that she only saw the force being used for violence, and really wanted Padme to come out and say she needed help packing for the trip to Jakku.

“Not until you have some fun and see the force being used in a gentle manner.”

“Well now I see it can be used gently, so put me down.”

“Are you having fun?”

“No! No, I’m not!”

“Then I’m not putting you down.” He said, before spinning the chair, making his friend yell. “Come on you get shot at; you can’t be scared of falling off a floating chair.”

“Well, I am, I’m afraid of heights.”

“This isn’t very high,” Anakin then raised his arm having the chair go higher in the air, “this is high.”

“Anakin Skywalker, you put me down! This isn’t fun and will never be fun.”

“If you keep shouting, I’ll lose concentration and drop you.”

“Please put me down, you know I hate begging.”

Anakin sighed. “Ok, ok.”

He lowered the chair slowly before getting an idea. When the chair was almost to the ground, he smirked then released his hold making it drop quickly and land with a thump.

(Y/n) glared at the blond. “I’m starting to hate you.” She said teasingly.

Anakin put a hand over his heart, faking hurt. “No. The agony, I can’t take being hated by the star touched angel. Arg!” He fell to the ground, making a bang on the floor.

(Y/n) rolled her eyes. “Real mature Skywalker.”

Anakin pushed himself up. “Oh, come on, we need some silliness in our life; we are serious almost all the time.”

(Y/n) crossed her arms. “I won’t say we need silliness, but I will say it’s a change,” A small smile then crossed her face, “and that dropping an egg on your head was fun the other day. I can’t believe you fell for it.” She chuckled, remembering how he easily looked up when she told him to and how shocked he was when the egg hit him.

Anakin flicked his hand and the chair the former trooper sat in tipped over.

“Anakin!”

“Yes angel?”

“You better get running, cause when I get you.”

Anakin jumped up and went to run around Padme’s home.

(Y/n) was searching for Anakin for a few minutes when she felt a tap on her shoulder. Turning around she saw him behind her. She was impressed that he got behind her without her noticing him. She knew Anakin was getting better with his training with Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan said Anakin was trying harder in the last year, but (Y/n) didn’t think he could sneak up on her, a trained Stormtrooper, without his presence being alerted to.

“I’m impressed you could sneak up on me like that.”

Anakin smiled, feeling a sense of pride he impressed her with his skills. He’s been wanting to impress her for some time and knowing she was a trained soldier and found Obi-Wan’s skill impressive Anakin decided he would try to get his fighting to a higher level so she would be impressed with him. Anakin also had to make sure he was prepared to face (Y/n)’s group. With her group wanting to take her back he had to become a Knight faster, and maybe if he pushed himself hard enough, he could be a Jedi Master before the group came.

“If you think that’s impressive just wait until I show you the other things I learned from my training. I hope it’ll blow your mind.” Anakin said

“Yeah, I would like to see that, just don’t get cocky.”

“Me cocky? Never!”

(Y/n) rolled her eyes. “Never, sure.”

Sensing (Y/n) was about to hit him Anakin jumped back. “To slow!” He said.

(Y/n) growled then charged him, but Anakin dodged her. “Try again,” he said.

Anakin kept dodging her attempts to hit him, making her more frustrated. “I bet if you didn’t have the Force, I would be able to catch you.” The future Stormtrooper said, remembering Force users could sense some attacks.

“Ok, let’s see if you can catch or hit me without the Force. I’ll stop using it for the time being.” Anakin said

“Ok.” (Y/n) got ready to charge her friend, but he ran behind her. She quickly turned around and threw punch at him, but Anakin blocked it, knowing her fighting style and that she would punch him. He moved his legs, avoiding her kicks and after blocking another punch he quickly kissed her then ran away when she was shocked.

Anakin knew he shouldn’t have kissed her again, it would lead him to more trouble, but he had to get some of his feelings for her out. What he felt for (Y/n) was wrong, but he couldn’t help it. She had taken over his thoughts. When he stopped thinking about Padme, he was relieved, until he found that (Y/n) just replaced Padme’s place in his thoughts.

(Y/n)’s shock and racing heart didn’t last long, and the anger she had for him lifting her chair into the air then knocking her down returned. “Anakin!” She yelled, before chasing him.

After catching Anakin and giving him a few firm hits on the arm the two were on the balcony looking at far away trees.

“What’s taking Padme so long?” (Y/n) wondered.

“She’s been called on a hologram meeting in her room.”

“How do you know this?”

“While I was running from you, she told me. It was a little weird though.” Anakin said, not understanding the odd touches she gave him.

“How was it weird? Was she happy or sad about the meeting?”

“No. She was rubbing my arm and looking deeply in my eyes.” Anakin took (Y/n)’s shoulders and made them face each other saying, “let me show you how weird it was.”

(Y/n) nodded, and though she was expecting him to look in her eyes, she wasn’t expecting the way he did it or how her heart sped up. A shiver ran up her when he rubbed her arm in a gentle and slow manner.

“Anakin, the Republic has called me to a holographic meeting to discuss my upcoming diplomatic meeting with Jakku, so we’ll be leaving a bit later, ok.”

(Y/n) chuckled when he looked up and stared at something in a fondness type of way after speaking. “That is weird; I’ve never seen a person tell another about a meeting in such a way.” She waited a minute before adding, “you can stop rubbing my arm now.”

“Of course,” Anakin pulled his arm away. “I did it too long, now I made it weird, or weirder I guess.”

“Pretty much, it also sent an odd shiver through me. That never happened before.” (Y/n) said, trying to think why she got a shiver when Anakin rubbed her arm, and why she was missing his touch now that it was gone.

“A shiver?”

“Yeah, it was like this.” (Y/n) rubbed Anakin’s arm in the same manner hoping he would feel the shiver.

“I see what you mean. It’s an odd sensation, but at the same time it’s enjoyable.”

“Yeah,” (Y/n) nodded. “Did that happen with Padme too?”

“No.”

“I’m not sure we did it correctly than.”

“I think you’re right… Or it could mean something else.” Anakin said, thinking the shiver he felt when she rubbed his arm could be the attraction and likeness to her he felt, and if she shivered maybe that meant (Y/n) felt the same with him.

“That it’s cold outside?” (Y/n) said

“Maybe,” Anakin said, realizing he could be thinking too deep into a simple shiver.

“We could go inside.” She said, not really wanting to go inside but wanting to run from Anakin. (Y/n) wanted to kiss Anakin then run away. It had been almost a year since their first kiss, and (Y/n) couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was different, and as time passed it became special when she learned more about what kisses were. From what she learned they were given when people were in a close relationship, one full of care, loyalty, and protection. If that was what a kiss was, she would cherish that act Anakin did. However, (Y/n) wanted to show him that she cared dearly for him and that she would protect him and was a loyal friend. Not only that but the kiss, though confusing at first was enjoyable, and the Trooper would like to do it again, but be the one that did it.

“We could, but I’m good with staying out here.” Anakin said. “Looking at trees is romantic for you. I want to do something romantic with you. I don’t care if it’s wrong.”

“How is wanting to do something romantic with me wrong?”

Anakin sighed before looking at the view of Naboo. For a moment he stayed like that debating if he should tell her or not but decided to. He was having a hard time living day to day alongside her without revealing his feelings. Anakin looked at her. “Attachment is forbidden in the Jedi Order, but I’ve gained an attachment to you, and every day it grows. When we’re apart I’m in agony, it’s almost like my heart has left me and only returns when I’m with you. I’ve been haunted by the first kiss I should’ve never given you. I’m kept awake at night when I think about your group coming to get you, and I’m filled with rage when I think about what they’ve done to you.” Anakin then looked at the view then inside the house, having trouble continuing.  Finally, he looked back at her. “You understand me like no one else, you felt like a slave almost all your life with your Order, and I was a slave. I watched my mother die, and you once told me you watched your family die before you were taken. I’m happy that I have someone that knows what I’ve gone through, but at the same time, knowing you went through, also brings me agony.”

(Y/n) was shocked with what he said and felt bad that she was giving him this pain. She knew what it was like to be in mental and physical pain.

(Y/n) took his hand to try and comfort him, but unknowingly made him feel worse.

“Do you feel any agony as I do?” Anakin asked. “The agony of these forbidden feelings?”

“Yes. In a different way. I don’t understand these feelings I have for you, but after talking to Padme about them she says I like you, and I must agree. I can’t like you though, not in the way this like is described. My group will come for me, even if they don’t care for me personally, and I will have to go with them, meaning I must leave you. I’m kept awake at that thought, regardless of how much I try to enjoy my time here, I’m always reminded that my time here with you is limited.”

“It doesn’t have to be. I can protect you from your group-’

“You can’t Anakin.”

“Yes, I can, I’ll-”

“You can’t!” (Y/n) yelled, turning away. “I have to go back with them, I can’t stay here, no matter how much I want to.”

“Why can’t you stay? Why do you have to go with a group that makes you feel like a slave?”

“I don’t know if I can tell you.”

“Why?”

“It might change things.” (Y/n) said.

“Nothing you say can change stuff between us. I love you.” Anakin said, convinced everything that he felt for her was love. Why else would he feel like his heart was gone when he left her, and the way his heart sped up at the presence of her.

(Y/n) looked over her shoulder at him. She wasn’t a stranger to the word love, but could this love be a step above the like Padme told her about?

“Anakin, you don’t love me.” She said, guessing this was the same or higher than the like Padme told her. “You can’t.”

“But I do love you, that’s why I’m in agony without you, and why I’m haunted by the first kiss I gave you. It took me awhile to figure out why but now I know that it’s because I’m in love with you.”

“You can’t be in love with me! Love Padme instead.” (Y/n) said, a pain in her chest.

“I don’t love Padme, I love you. Padme and I haven’t done the things we have. Padme and I don’t share the things we do. Didn’t that first kiss mean something to you? Is all the tree gazing just looking at trees and nothing more? You talked to Padme about your feelings to me, you have to feel something more to me.”

(Y/n) sighed, feeling tears build into her eyes. She quickly wiped them away. She hated crying, it was a sign of weakness, and the First Order taught her to get rid of all weakness. Unfortunately, it seems Anakin loved breaking her out of First Order teachings.

“It does mean something to me, but it shouldn’t, it can’t. We- we shouldn’t even have met.” (Y/n) said, her voice cracking, and the pain in her chest increasing. She looked away from Anakin, knowing looking at her best friend would make more tears form.

“What do you mean we shouldn’t have met?”

“I can’t-”

“Don’t say you can’t tell me. You can’t say we shouldn’t have met and not give me an answer to why.” Anakin said, getting angry.

(Y/n) shook her head.

Anakin took her shoulders and turned her to him. “(Y/n) please tell me. I don’t understand this. Is this some sort of defense mechanism to your feelings to me?”

“No, but I wish it was.” She said looking up to him and regretting it instantly. Looking at his concerned face made her break even more. “I’m getting torn apart because of you. You show me freedom, and so many other things and now you make me feel this intense liking to you, all of this will make it harder for when I have to leave you.”

Anakin wiped away the few tears that escaped (Y/n)’s (e/c) eyes. “You don’t have to leave me. I will stop your group from taking you no matter the cost.”

“We’ve already been over this, you can’t, my time here is limited. I don’t want it to be, but we can’t change it. I’m at risk of changing stuff already.”

“We can try to prevent it, me, you and Padme. Padme won’t want you to leave with this group almost as much as I don’t.”

“Why would Padme care if I left with my group?”

Anakin was going to reply but was beat to it by Padme, who came out from her hiding spot behind the wall of her home. “Because you’re my friend.”

The two looked over to find the Senator in the doorway of her balcony.

“How long were you there?” Anakin asked.

“And how didn’t I know? I’m a trained soldier. Phasma would be on me for not noticing you!” (Y/n) said, aggravated in herself. She understood how Anakin could sneak up to her but not Padme.

“I wasn’t planning on eavesdropping I swear and I’m sorry for doing it. I was coming to tell you the trip to Jakku has been canceled when I heard Anakin say he loved you.  I didn’t want to intrude but I wanted to see where it went, but I had to make myself known when you asked why I would care (Y/n). I had to be the one to tell you, let you know I’m with Anakin on this.”

(Y/n) was upset that Padme listened to their conversation and that she was able to listen on so much of it without her knowing Padme was there but couldn’t be to upset about it. (Y/n) had another friend that was willing to try and stop the First Order from getting her. That meant a lot to the future Stormtrooper.

“Thanks Padme. It means a lot you would help, but it won’t do any good.”

Padme walked over and put a hand on (Y/n)’s shoulder making her stiffen before relaxing. “Tell us why, help us understand. Stop dodging the question and answer it. This group has to be stopped, we can help stop it, prevent it from hurting anyone else.”

(Y/n) closed her eyes. She finally figured telling Anakin and Padme wouldn’t be so bad, after all Kylo was going to tell Vader he was from the future so the Sith would help him, so why couldn’t (Y/n) tell her friends. “You can’t stop it, it hasn’t been formed yet, it won’t be formed for years.”

“How can that be?” Padme asked.

“I’m from the future. I was used as a test subject for the Supreme Leader’s time machine. They said if any of the people chosen to test it were sent to the past that they would bring them back to see if the Supreme Leader could be brought back from the past safely. Because of this I must be brought back.”

“Maybe they’ll leave you though, you told me once that you’re disposable to them.” Anakin said

“That’s true, but the Supreme Leader isn’t disposable, they’ll want to know if bringing a person back is safe, and General Hux won’t let them leave me here if they think of stopping it. The General was against this idea from the start, and he thinks my presence might change the time stream.” (Y/n) said.

The three were silent, until Padme spoke a moment later. “I’m not sure if I believe this, but if it is true, wouldn’t that mean the changes you made already effected your timeline? Think about it, you’re from the future then you got sent to the past, meaning you were always here and the changes you made, made the future that then sent you back in time.”

(Y/n) thought on what Padme said, before saying, “you make good points, but the people that made the machine as well as General Hux said any changes made will change the future. The General gave a very long speech about it to us, and the makers of the time machine said my actions will change it, because I was never in this time. If I was never in this time before the machine sent me here, different events happened, events I am now changing with my presence.”

“Let’s say you are changing things, lets get everything you know and stop this Order from happening.” Anakin said.

“But if the Order never happened, how would she be here now?” Padme asked.

“Easy, the Force was the real thing that sent her here, and nothing can change the Force.”

“The Force? It was a machine!”

“It was a selfish man child with a dumb wanting to meet his idol.” (Y/n) said.

“A selfish man child who used a machine.” Padme said.

“The machine was a cover that the Force used.” Anakin said. “The Force must’ve not liked the future, so it sent (Y/n) here to fix it, and while she’s fixing it, she fell in love with me and me with her.”

“Kylo- the Supreme Leader,” (Y/n) corrected “is always saying how the Force is powerful and can do many things. I’ve seen and heard him do many things with it, and the Jedi sure don’t hide its power. If the Force is really as powerful as they say than it can’t be so farfetched that it can send a person through time.”

(Y/n) wanted to believe the Force did this partly so she could be with Anakin and have some form of justification for it, even if she didn’t know what the Force wanted her to change, and the other reason was so she could say if she wrecked the future to say the Force wanted it. And If Padme was right, could it mean she did something that created the First Order? If she did (Y/n) could never forgive herself.

(Y/n) put a hand on her forehead. This talk was starting to hurt her head. Who was right? Was it Padme where nothing could be fixed or Anakin and General Hux where anything she did would change the future?

“Are you ok?” Anakin said, noticing his teammate’s distress.

“I’m getting a headache from this talk. Who’s right and who’s wrong? This is all so confusing.” (Y/n) said.

“How about we go get some dinner and leave this conversation for another day.”

“I like that idea.”

“Sounds good,” Padme said. “I know a little place where we can eat at.”

“Ok. Lead the way, Senator.” Anakin said, then threw an arm around (Y/n) and pulling her into his side.

(Y/n) didn’t know what to do but decided to relax and try to let the previous thoughts go for now. The thoughts were more stressful than running into battle at this moment.

“Breathe,” Anakin said, rubbing her arm in a slow and soothing manner. Another shiver went through her, and she grasped onto that feeling then thought about how she felt with Anakin comforting her, then thought about other stuff Anakin did and how that made her feel. Slowly the stress eased up as her thoughts were filled with Anakin and the nice, silly, ridiculous, or reckless things he did.

Padme led them to the restaurant, disappointed that her feelings for Anakin weren’t returned but hid her disappointment.
