Chapter Text
Yor sat in the family room, frantically on her knees wiping spilt water from the coffee table.
Small tears fell down her cheeks as she scolded herself for being so clumsy.
'I'm an (ex) assassin for heaven sakes. Why am I always so-'
Loid walked in from the laundry room, his face paled at the sight of his lovely wife hunched over their coffee table struggling to wipe it clean.
Immediately he rushed to her side, "Honey, what are you doing? Sit down and rest, don't do that." His voice is sweet as the term of endearment he used, scolding her for exerting herself.
"Loid, I'm fine. I spilled it so I can clean it", a hand on her belly she tried to reach further across the surface but the way her stomach pressed against the edge stopped her movements.
He shook his head and offered his hands.
She shook her head, refusing his offer to help her up.
So he decided to do the next best thing to convince his wife to rest.
He kneeled next to her and placed his hands on hers, "Darling, look at me"
She frowns and slowly turns her head to meet his eyes.
His right hand trails up her arm to cup her cheek, "Yor, you need to calm down"
She leaned into his touch and tears streamed down her face once more.
“I don’t like this. I’m so useless that I can't even clean like I used to.”
Gently the pad of his thumbs wipes her tears from her eyes.
Twilight did what he thought best and directed her emotions elsewhere.
“Clean or not our house is almost always spotless unless Anya decides she wants to try her hand at baking. You remember when she made cookies?”
Her heart fluttered at this sight, her husband smiling at the memory of Anya’s cookies that looked horrible but tasted very good. She was definitely just like her father in that department.
“You remember when she tried washing Bond by herself because she put so much glitter in his hair”
Yor smiled fondly at the memory, how could she forget? Her and Loid were busy making dinner and found the apartment to be a bit too quiet. So when she decided to go check on her daughter, she was in the bathroom whispering to Bond what she was going to do if the sparkles wouldn't come out of his fur.
The look on her face when her mama caught her brushing it out, the glitter all over the tiles.
When he was sure he did enough to lighten her spirits he decided to ask her:
"Do you want me to help you up and I can rub your stomach"
She sniffles softly as she nods her head, a soft smile across her lips "But, what about the water I-"
"I'll take care of it"
"Okay." She wipes her face of any unhappiness she felt before and felt a feathery kiss placed atop her head.
He helped her up and directed her to sit on the couch and as he promised he placed his hand on her protruding stomach and rubbed circles.
"Loid" she whispered softly.
"What is it Darling? Do you want anything else"
She shook her head, she released a blissful sigh before leaning her head against his chest.
"It feels nice when you do that"
She placed her hand on his lap and nodded off to sleep.
Her eyes closed he couldn't help but smile at the sight in front of him. This new phase of their life while such a handful because of her stubborn nature he understood that she wasn't used to staying still.
However, not everyday was as easy as today.
Loid woke up the next morning to find his wife not in bed and dare he say for a spy it felt lonely.
He usually woke up first but with Yor’s body changing her routine also changed.
Walking to the living room he found her lying on the couch with Bond.
Her silk like hair strewn across her face, her hand resting atop her stomach.
He slid his hands under her thighs and back, lifting her as carefully as he could so he wouldn't stir her awake but she did anyway.
"Put me down Loid"
She weakly pressed her palms against his chest.
A frown pressed his lips, his eyebrows scrunched.
Her emotions are going to be too much for her today.
"I can't sleep with you, it feels stuffy and suffocating"
Twilight didn't take her words to heart, aware her words aren't coming from a place of malice. He takes a step towards their bedroom, "Then you can sleep with Bond on our bed, would you like that?"
Yor understood then, that he was worried for her. He never allows Bond to sleep with them, even if Anya is at a sleepover and Bond gives them pleading looks he is firm with not crossing that line.
After a while Bond knew he couldn't persuade him to sleep with them unless Anya were home.
"What are you making for breakfast?"
He gently placed her on the bed, He turns to signal to Bond that he may come in.
"Anya is coming home in 30 minutes so I'm making pancakes. Anything special you want on yours?"
He sat on the edge of the bed, his hand placed on her cheek patiently waiting for an answer.
She gingerly wrapped her hand around his wrist, limiting her strength so she wouldn't accidentally break it. Her finger ran up and down his own; she thought about her options, not wanting to make him work any harder she mentaly sorted through what was in the fridge.
"Peanut butter and fruit. Lots of fruit. Whip cream, maybe some chocolate."
He nodded.
As morning passed and afternoon came she sat on the couch with Bond at her side.
Anya in her room playing or reading a book.
She struggled to slip on her usual heels Bond shook his head and slipped away, the pitter patter of his paws against the floorboard he walked into Anya's room.
After a short vision and planning they decided it was best to tell Papa.
They went into Papa's room where he was organizing the room in a way that's convenient for the both of them.
"Papa, Mama is doing it again"
"Doing what?"
"Heels"
His face fell for a short second, processed what his daughter just said, and he broke into a chuckle.
"Papa is broken" Anya whispered to Bond.
He straightened his expression and walked calm but swiftly to his wife.
"What are you doing?"
"I want to go grocery shopping"
Damn, her cute smile and puppy-eyed expression almost convinced him.
Not good.
"I can go grocery shopping, just tell me what you want"
She shook her head, "I want to go, you always do everything now and-"
"I like taking care of you"
He frowned when she started crying.
He could try directing her emotions or attention on something else but doing so too many times would hurt her confidence.
"Im tired of being useless Loid"
She cried harder, the back of her hands wiping her face.
'What am I doing? I'm just causing more trouble for him'
He wraps her in a gentle embrace, her face pressed against his chest,"You're not useless, think of it as saving your strength for when you need to give birth"
She gripped his white t-shirt, "I want to do something more than resting or saving my strength"
"Is Mama and Papa fighting?"
Yor flinched while Loid ignored Anya's words and continued stroking his emotional wife.
'At least she just said that. The last time she said something during these emotional lows I couldn't persuade Yor to come to bed with me all night.'
"We aren't fighting Anya" her voice hoarse from all her crying.
"Are you sure, you're crying a lot Mama"
"I'm sure" she sniffs, "Mama is just-"
"Your Mother's hormones are out of her control because of the baby"
Anya's face morphed in shock, "The baby is controlling Mama, like Princess Honey was controlled by King Candy to-"
"Something like that" Loid couldn't help but chuckle, Anya's inductive reasoning always is entertaining but he didn't want to take his focus off of his wife and her feelings.
She may be laughing but, what about after this moment is over?
He knew he needed to do something or she would ignore what he said at the beginning and wear her heels.
"How about…” He draped an arm over Yor’s shoulder, “...We go shopping for new shoes that make you comfortable and maybe even new clothes…” with his other hand he brushed her bangs back and kissed her forehead, “...Are you up for shopping for yourself instead of for groceries?”
“Anya wants to go to!”
His daughter, as always when it came to shopping for anything, answered first.
“No Anya. This is only-”
“We can have a family outing” She guided the hand on her thigh to her stomach.
"We can do that, I'll call Franky so he can dog-sit for us"
Changing his tune because Yor said so.
That afternoon the trio went shopping for all kinds of things.
Even some things for the soon-to-be new member of the family.
